FTR1000 The Winning Poker US Yes

There has been a lot of talk recently about the possibility to intrastate regulated online poker. With the recent crackdown by the Department of Justice against PokerStars, FullTilt, and CEREUS Poker it seems these talks have gained a lot of steam. While no states have passed legislation specifically allowing online poker there have been many who are in the process of doing so. However some states seem quite adamant against online poker making it quite the uphill battle for state regulation. One of those states is Georgia. The southern state with a conservative population could make it quite difficult for Georgia Online Poker to become regulated.

Ironically enough the player most credit with the poker boom in the 2000’s was a orgia native. Chris Moneymaker, born in Atlanta, won the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event for a staggering $2,500,000. Moneymaker outlasted a huge field before beating high stakes professional Sammy Farha heads-up for the title. What made his run even more impressive was the fact that he qualified for the tournament through a $39 satellite on PokerStars. Turning just under $40 into millions for an every day man was enough to create quite the boom online. Since then online poker in the United States had been growing at a huge rate until the FBI indicted six site owners as well as five others involved in payment processing.

The future of the game remains unclear but for now a lot of attention will be on states looking to regulate intrastate poker. Those looking to play Georgia Online Poker will need to put in a lot of effort with their lawmakers in order to get any legislation passed. It seems the state is currently vehemently against most gambling mediums including all card games, slot machines, and other table games. In fact, Georgia does not have any legally licensed casinos. They are against home poker games even if the host does not earn any rake. The only type of gambling which exists in Georgia is lotteries and on casino boats. These boats must travel miles out into international waters in order to circumvent Georgia gambling laws. It seems at this point Georgia Online Poker is merely a pipe dream.

It does appear there are plenty of players in Georgia who enjoy playing online poker. Currently online poker is legal but if legislation moves to the state level it could be interesting for states that appear to be against gambling. Most of these states have a strong religious following and these groups have been fighting against gambling for some time now. It will be up to the poker players in order for Georgia Online Poker to be regulated. If players can band together and make enough noise the lawmakers will take notice and hopefully appease them. With more than 9,000,000 current residents Georgia is the 9th biggest state in the United States and could potentially have quite a large player base. This important as intrastate regulation will work best in bigger states that can support multiple online poker rooms. While Georgia has the population and is in need of an economic boost Georgia Online Poker could provide it seems there will be plenty opposition in hopes of regulating the game. Only time will tell, while state regulated online poker is a last resort it could become a viable option in the near future.
