Via a press release this past week, Lock Poker purchased the Cake Poker Network, with plans on re-branding Cake into Revolution Gaming Poker. According to Lock Poker CEO Jennifer Larson, Lock Poker will be moving away from the Merge Gaming Network, to form their own identity in the online poker world. Current Lock Poker players should experience no issues during this move, except for a small software update at the end of May. Between now and the end of the month, players can continue processing cashouts via the Lock Poker Cashier.
On June 1st Revolution Gaming Poker will launch. The site will be customized with input from all of the LockPRO Team, which includes poker giants such as Annette “Annett_15” Obrestad, Bryan “PrimordialAA” Pellegrino, and Casey “bigdogpckt5s” Jarzabek. These players will join the rest of the LockPRO team to help put a player’s touch on the new poker room. Larson expanded on this, saying “We are very excited at the prospect of driving the product, marketing and overall vision of the network. It is a dream come true.”
Before the move, Lock Poker was the largest poker room on the Merge Network. They are currently the largest poker site still serving American players. Along with a newly launched casino, Lock also offers Mac support, SharkScope integration for SNG grinders, and the backing of famed tournament professional Eric “Rizen” Lynch as their Poker Room Manager. With the buyout of Cake Poker, along with the creation of Revolution Gaming Poker, it seems Lock Poker is intent on cornering the American poker market. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on the new network.
Lock Poker addressed the concerns of it's current players by assuring them nothing would change about their player balances or VIP rewards already in place. The only thing that would be required is a software update that will take place on May 31st. Everything that people “love about Lock” will remain the same or be improved. The Lock Cashier which currently is the fastest on Merge will remain and there will be better VIP rewards in the future although the statement released by Lock does not detail on how the VIP system will improve.
The statement released by Larson further details that Revolution Gaming Network will offer “driving technology, marketing and player rewards”. It goes on to say that “Merge was a great stepping stone for us, but we've outgrown them”, whether this has to with Merge Gaming's cancellation of LOCKOPS remains up for speculation.
Finally it is currently being speculated that since the largest US poker site in the world (Lock Poker) is leaving the largest US poker network in the world (Merge) that the new Revolution Network will soon be the largest US Network in the world. What effects this have on Merge Network are currently being speculated as well but presently no concrete conclusions can be made.
