is a part of the Boss Poker network. It is important to note that due to the legislation in the United States they currently do NOT accept US customers.

It seems that Virgin Poker is trying to merge a poker strategy site with a poker room. Although some sites have pro players that write articles for them, Virgin Poker has its own blog with various article and strategy’s on different types of poker. When you login, you get displayed by “Poker Pal” which shows updates from their blog and other various news about Virgin Poker. Most of the advice is sound, especially for a new player trying to learn the game.

At Virgin Poker you will find the following games; limit, pot-limit, and no-limit Hold’em, limit, pot-limit Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, and 5 Card Draw. As with almost every poker room today, you will find most of the people playing no-limit Hold’em. However, I did notice above average numbers for Omaha and Stud games. Many times there were over 30 active tables of Omaha, most in the $50 pot-limit stake. As for no-limit Hold’em, there was a table running for every limit, high and low.

Virgin Poker’s Sit & Go tournaments had a much higher player base than most sites today. I was surprised to see almost always over 200 (sometimes many more) running at any given time. Also, there is always a game running for your stake. Although most of the games running were $11 and below, there were always many high stakes tournaments being played. I even noticed quite a few $2000 SnGs running, so even if you play super high stakes, you should be able to find some competition!

Virgin Poker has quite the schedule of Multi Table Tournaments as well. With buyins ranging from $1 to $100 daily, you can expect to find a game for your bankroll. They have various guaranteed prize pools ranging from $3000 ($35 buyin) up to $30000 (their weekly $40 buyin). Every prize pools always exceeds the limit, especially the Sunday $30,000 which always has satellites running for as little as $5.

While playing real money games at Virgin Poker, you will earn what they call V*Points. You earn V*Points for playing raked hands or paying tournament fees. The higher the stakes you play, you more you will earn. Their site lists a chart of approximately how many VPs you can earn in a month at any given limit, for example:

At $.25 - $.50 playing 2 hours per week, you would earn approx 150 per month. At $5 - $10 playing 10 hours per week you would earn approx 8,000 per month. (Full details available on their website).

With VPs, you can purchase many different merchandise, frequent flyer miles, or even exchange directly for cash. They have a store setup through amazon.com, so you should be able to purchase virtually anything you can think of with your VPs. If you chose the cash route, 1 VP = approx $.01.

If you’re outside the US, has the following deposit methods; Visa/Mastercard, Bank Wire, Neteller, Click2Pay, Paysafecard, Moneta.ru, or Personal Check.

has a nicely organized lobby making it easy to find which game or stake you’re looking for. One thing to take note of is Virgin Poker has many different currency games running at the same time. For example, they have many $1 - $2 tables running along side of $1 - $2 GBP and EUR games. There is a filter at the bottom of the lobby to only show your currency so you do not accidentally join the incorrect table.

The tables at Virgin Poker are 10-max, or 5-max for every limit. The first thing that I noticed was play seemed much slower than other poker rooms. Even after all the action is complete, there seems to be a long pause before a new hand is dealt. Players are given much to long to click the muck or show buttons, which can really hold up the game. Also, there are basically no options you can customize on the table for it to suit you. There is no preferred seating, 4 color deck, or any option to change the table size. The size of the tables is larger than standard poker sites, and you can not fit 4 on your screen without overlap running 1600x1200 resolution. This makes multi-tabling more difficult.

Virgin Poker does have instant hand histories available, however it is not easy to find. For whatever reason, hand history options are located under the “Live Help” tab at the table. It took me a while before I even noticed this and I wish they had their own tab to review hand histories. While viewing them, you can look at them as a text or picture format for every hand played.

I found the average number of players at to be around the 5000 mark. However, their support had informed me that during peak hours they can have as many as 30,000 people connected. As mentioned earlier, Virgin Poker would be a great site to expand your game to other types as more than average numbers play games other than Hold’em.

I believe one thing that brings more people to Virgin Poker is different currencies than just USD being used. This eliminates having to possibly run into charges converting between currencies while depositing.

Whether you’re a ring, sit and go, or tournament player, you should be able to find a game at Virgin Poker.

I had dealt with support a couple times and they were always excellent. I had sent them two e-mails with questions about their site and both were responded within 30 minutes. In addition to e-mail, they also offer live chat which is built into their software, and phone support. If you need to contact Virgin Poker, their information is below:

E-mail: support@poker.virgingames.com
Phone: 0800 2790 681 (Toll free for UK)

I experienced an average number of fish at . You will always be able to notice 2-3 whales at every table you sit down at, but there were also a few solid multi-tablers at various limits. Since Virgin Poker does not allow US players to play, the number of fish will go down compared to sites that allow US play. However, don’t be afraid, with a basic strategy you will be able to beat these games.

Virgin Poker now has a 100% up to $100 bonus! When they first launched one of the downfalls was no bonus being offered, but that is no more! To take part in this $100 bonus, you have to create a new account and be a first time depositer. The be released in increments of $10 for every $30 that is paid in rake. So you need to pay a total of $300 in rake to fulfill the bonus. This isn't too bad, and acts more like a rakeback bonus then it does a deposit bonus. You have 180 days to earn it or the bonus will expire, which is more than enough time.

You can also take part in their $25 refer a friend bonus, by getting your friends to sign up and make a real money deposit. This is a nice extra way to pick up some additional cash.

If you're looking for some other ways to get some bank without using your own, you should look into their freerolls. For starters, they have a $35 daily freeroll that you can play in with no buyin or restrictions. Also, they have a 25,000 V Point freeroll every Tuesday Thursday and Sunday. In this special freeroll you can play for Virgin air miles, store vouchers or cold hard cash!
