Virgin Poker.com Overview
is part of the Boss Poker network. It is important to note that due to the current legislation in the United States they do not accept US customers.
At Virgin Poker, you will find a merger of a poker strategy site with a poker room. They have several articles on how to play the different games on offer, video tutorials and even a live poker school, which is run three nights a week. While playing at the school a resident pro will give you tips on how to improve your game and may even point out some leaks you had no idea about.
At Virgin Poker you will find the following games: Limit, Pot-limit, and No-limit Hold’em; Limit, Pot-limit Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo; 7 Card Stud; and 5 Card Draw. As with almost every poker room today, you will find most of the people playing No-limit Hold’em. The number of Omaha and Stud games that were actually being played was scant, and they were only at the smaller stakes. That's not to say things won’t change. As for No-limit Hold’em, there was a table running for every limit, high and low.
Virgin Poker’s Sit & Go tournaments have a much higher player base than most other sites today. It is not surprising to see over 200 running at any given time. There is always a wide variety of stakes in action. However, most of the Sit & Goes in play are for buy-ins less than €50 + €5. Few of the higher stakes games were running but most were still awaiting players to register. If you're dedicated to higher stakes, you will probably have to wait a while.
Virgin Poker has quite a schedule of Multi Table Tournaments as well. With buy-ins ranging from €0 to €100 daily, you can expect to find a game for your bankroll. They even offer buy-ins as high as €1050 for those who really want to get their game on. Or for those that just have a few cents, how about the Virgin Cheapskates 10 cent re-buy tournament? Virgin has a nice game selection for their MTTs, with several re-buy and guaranteed events. Every month sees exciting guaranteed tournaments that are sure to keep the poker player coming back for more.
Virgin Poker you will award you ‘V*Points’ when playing at real money games. For every raked hand you play or tournament fee you pay, V*Points are earned. The higher the stakes you play, the more you will earn. Their site has a chart of approximately how many VPs you can earn in a month at any given limit, for example:
If you were to play five single table tournaments per day, with a €50 buy-in, you could earn 2,190 V*Points per month.
V*Points can be redeemed in a variety of ways. One V*Point is equal to either 1 pence or 1 Flying Club Mile. This way you can redeem your points for either cash or miles to travel. You can also choose to donate a matched contribution to Virgin Unite or use your points to get a Virgin Experience, which are awesome adventure or pampering packages. V*Points can be exchanged for Virgin Vouchers which can then be used to purchase items at the Virgin Megastore. Virgin Vouchers are only used for the currency of pounds sterling.
Virgin Poker.com Software Interface/Usability
has a nicely organized lobby, making it easy to find which game or stake you’re looking for. One IMPORTANT thing to take note of is Virgin Poker has many different currency games running at the same time! For example, they have many $1 - $2 tables running along side of €1 - €2 and £1 - £2 games. The tables at Virgin Poker are 10-max, or 5-max for every limit. Playing for pounds and playing for dollars are significantly different amounts.
The play here seemed much slower than other poker rooms. Even after all the action is complete, there seems to be a long pause before a new hand is dealt. Players are given much too long to click the muck or show buttons, which can really hold up the game. Other options besides mucking or showing your cards are viewing the screen in full or mini mode, what language you use, using a two or four color deck, and sound effects.
Virgin Poker does have instant hand histories available, however they are not easy to find. For whatever reason, hand history options are located under the “Live Help” tab at the table. It takes a while to notice this. Instead, there should be a unique tab to review hand histories. While viewing them you can choose a text or picture format for every hand played.
Virgin Poker Room Action
The number of players at averages around 5000. However, they claim that during peak hours they can have as many as 30,000 people connected. As mentioned earlier, Virgin Poker would be a great site to expand your game and increase your skill.
One thing that brings more people to Virgin Poker is playing in different currencies besides just USD or EUR. This eliminates unnecessary exchange rate conversion charges when depositing in your local currency.
Whether you’re a ring, Sit and Go, or tournament player, you should be able to find a game at Virgin Poker.
Virgin Poker's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
Expect an average number of fish at . You will always be able to notice 2-3 whales at every table you sit down at, but there are also a few solid multi-tablers at various limits. Since Virgin Poker does not allow US players to play, the number of fish will go down compared to sites that do. However, don’t be afraid. With a basic strategy you will be able to beat these games.
