If you have been watching the WPT and tournament circuit, I am sure a certain bad mouthed professional player stuck in your head. No not Mike the Mouth, someone who can be even more intense at the tables; Tony G. Tony Guoga (known as Tony G) is a professional poker player from down under, who has been playing since before it was legal for him to play. As more online poker rooms are being launched everyday, Tony G decided to use his name and bad guy reputation to create a player base. So far, it has worked.
Tony G Poker recently joined the ever popular iPoker network, and traffic has been increasing everyday. At Tony G Poker, you will find limit, pot-limit, and no-limit Hold’em, limit and pot-limit Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, and 5 Card Stud for all stakes. Most people are playing across all stakes of no-limit Hold’em, but I always saw many tables of Omaha and Stud running as well. Cash games are the bread and butter at Tony G Poker, with an average hovering around 1000 tables open at any time. One of the things that sets Tony G Poker apart from the other online rooms is you will definitely be able to find a game for your bankroll. Out of the average 15,000 users connected they are playing every stake and limit, and I even noticed a couple nosebleed tables running as well.
Tony G Poker knows how to host tournaments as well, and their Sit & Go structure gets a lot of traffic. For as little as $.12 you can play against a table of villains all waiting to give you their chips. Some of the games they offer are; regular, turbo, super turbo, jackpots, winner take all, and WSOP satellites. Of these, the most popular are the regular and turbos around the $20 + $2 buyin, and there are always multiple games running at once. However, don’t worry if you’re a high stakes player because I noted there were many $55, some $109, and a few $215s running as well. Their jackpot tournaments vary from buyin to buyin, but the basic idea is to win 6 in a row to take down the jackpot (rake is much higher.) Also, one other interesting structure was their super turbos, which I would think were designed for people who want to play 500 tournaments in a day! Blinds go up every one minute, making these last for a maximum of 15 minutes.
Although not as popular as cash games or sit & go tournaments, the Multi Table Tournaments are growing every month at Tony G Poker. They now offer various guaranteed prize pools from $500 ($3 + $.3 FO) up to $20,000 ($10 + $1 rebuy) daily. Also, on certain days (usually Friday – Sunday) they offer special $50,000 up to $100,000 guaranteed prize pools, with $55 up to $215 buyins. Most of their smaller tournaments ($1 - $20) pull in about 300-600 players many times throughout the day.
While playing real money cash or tournaments, you will earn TonyGPoker Points. TonyGPoker Points are used to earn bonuses, and also players can also use them to enter some of our tournaments which accept points as buy in. Earning more TonyGPoker Points will also help you attain higher VIP levels, which will entitle players to more generous promotions, bonuses and privilege. You earn up to 9 TonyGPoker Points per hand at a cash table and you receive 18 points per every $1 in tournament fees paid.

’s lobby is very well organized and tables can be filtered or sorted by any means. They also have a built in quick search feature which can quickly bring you to any table or tournament rather than searching through yourself. One of the best features in their lobby are the Filters which can be enabled or disabled at anytime. You can filter out certain stakes, seats, players, or even type of table.
The table layout they offer for every limit are 10 and 8 player full ring, 6 max shorthanded, and heads up. They always have many different options and enhancements you can enable to make life easier when multi-tabling. Some of these include; all-in buttons, normal mini or full screen tables, 4 color decks, and warnings. Some of these warnings include popping up a display when making an unusual bet to ensure it isn’t a mis-click – which is very helpful! Built into the tables are one of 10 avatars you can choose from in the options menu. (These can also be turned off.)
Play seemed pretty fast compared to other online poker rooms. There is little animation and players have little time to make their decisions. You can also adjust the game speed in the options menu to suit you. Also, you can enable fast play which will reduce all animations and speed up the games for you.
While playing at Tony G Poker, hand histories are instantly available at the table. Just click on “history” in the chat window to bring up the viewer. You can also have all hands saved onto your desktop, or alternatively have support e-mail them to you.

is action packed! With an average of 15,000 users connected, which can reach 20,000+ during peak hours, you will have no problem finding a table. Also, you can find a game other than no-limit Hold’em, which is pretty unusual for online poker rooms today. SnG and MTT traffic isn’t as high of a volume as their cash games, but there is definitely enough players that want to donk their chips off to you!

It is pretty much assumed that with 15,000 or more players, the fish volume will be large. And that is the case at Tony G Poker. Especially in the lower limit cash games, you will find a large amount of people who will call you down with anything and make outlandish bluffs. In order to take advantage of the full bonus, you must deposit $400 then play real money games to earn TonyGPoker Points. TonyGPoker Points were mentioned earlier, but here is an in depth description on earning them:
“At ring games, Points are awarded to players for each hand in which they participate, as long as the hand is raked, no matter whether the player contributed to the pot by placing a blind or a bet, or whether the player folded. Points are also awarded based on the fees paid by the player when buying-in to a tournament. How many points awarded per ring table depends on how much rake was taken out:
$.25 - $.50 – 1 Point
$.50 - $1.00 – 2 Points
$1.01 - $1.50 – 4 Points
$1.51 - $2.00 – 6 Points
$2.01 - $2.50 – 7 Points
$2.51 and up – 9 Points
At tournaments, 18 Points are awarded for every $1 in fees paid by the player.”
Bonuses are then released according to the number of points earned; 600 points = $5. So for the full $300, you would have to earn 36,000 TonyGPoker Points; which in tournament fees is $2000. This bonus is cleared much fast at higher stakes ring games, and is fairly slow at lower stakes. It also isn’t the best bonus if you’re a sit & go player. However, if you have some time, with the large amount of traffic it isn’t a bad idea to try it out! (Bonus must be earned within 3 months or it becomes invalid.)
