| TigerGaming.net Review
TigerGaming.net is one of the most exciting free play rooms online today. They may not be as large, but they still have plenty of action with over 1,000 people connected. I find them to be the most exciting because of the variety of games offered; the standard Texas Hold'em, Omaha, and 7 Card, and also Guts, Big2, PAN, and Chinese Poker are all available for free play. They even have freeplay blackjack tables available if you're in the mood for doubling down. If you are not sure what these unique games are, it is the perfect opportunity to learn it for free; and they also have instructions on their website.
Playing at TigerGaming.net can also land you some serious bucks, and maybe even a vacations. They are currently running a free promotion for your chance to win a $5000 Vegas Getaway. 'We will fly you and a friend to Las Vegas from just about anywhere in North America. Buckle up and enjoy the flight to Sin City! The flight also includes transportation to and from Las Vegas Airport to your hotel.' You receive free hotel, dinner, special tours, and cash. Check out their website to learn how to qualify.

Tiger Gaming Rakeback Calculations
Tournament Rake Calculations:
Yes, players entry fees are counted towards their monthly rakeback.
Ring Game Rake Calculations:
We take rake from the players on every betting round, so if you contribute to the rake we will count it for your rakeback, otherwise you will show no rake on the hand and no rakeback is given. This is more fair than some other online rooms who share the rake with everyone at the table because the money you pay towards the rake is the only amount calculated for rakeback. Although it may be nice to get rakeback when someone else is involved in a pot, it isn't as nice when other people (especially people not as active) get rakeback from your action!

Tiger Gaming.com Review
is a poker room full of people throwing their money at you. They may pretend they're trying to play poker, but really all they are doing is giving you their money. Tiger Gaming is a nice site, with pleasing graphics and a nice interface. The bonus is very nice and the customer support is helpful. Traffic is low, but it is not hard to get three or four tables going at the smaller stakes. Tiger Gaming is also unique in that it offers a number of different games that you will not find anywhere else on the internet. These include the "poker" game of Guts (very loosely called poker), the classic card game Big 2, as well as Chinese Poker and Pan. If you are a fan of any of these games Tiger Gaming is the place to be.
In early 2004 Tiger Gaming started to advertise aggressively in Canada, putting commercials on all poker programming airing on TSN, Rogers Sportsnet and The Score. Presumably they considered Canada a reservoir of poker players that was not being fully exploited. The aggressive campaign which is still going on right now has resulted in a poker site full of Canadians, many of which really can't play poker very well at all.
Tiger Gaming's parent company Action Poker Gaming Inc. is a subsidiary of LasVegasFromHome.com Entertainment Inc., a publicly traded company "dedicated to producing the finest online multiplayer gaming technology."
In addition to the unique games already mentioned, Tiger Gaming offers tables of limit and no limit Texas Hold'Em, limit and pot limit Omaha and extremely low traffic 7 CardStud tables.

Tiger Gaming Software Interface/Usability
While 's software is nice to look at, it is not particularly functional. There is a total lack of hand history accessibility and a very small numbers of options and features.
Tiger Gaming has the requisite advance action buttons. One thing I liked was that in the no limit games the advance action buttons "call any" and "raise any" disappeared. This is very nice because those buttons are not utilized at all in no limit and they become extraneous. Their omission in NL games streamlines the software.
Tiger Gaming's chat interface has the option of viewing dealer chat, player chat, both or neither. This is convenient enough and it is my preference to keep both of them on. There is also a four colour deck available which makes multi-tabling easier and prevents the "Oh my God I just went all in and I don't have the flush I thought I did" moments.
One odd feature of the software is that when you want to bet you can either bet the minimum amount or you have to press the "bet other/raise other" button. Then once the bet/raise other console pops up it automatically is set to bet the pot. This may sound complicated but the system actually works pretty well. I am not sure whether I like the fact it is automatically set to betting the pot. This is often convenient when you are the one betting, but I think it causes other players to play a more strategically proper game a lot of the time. On another site, a guy might bet three or four dollars into a ten dollar pot, but at Tiger they will often just bet the pot because it's so easy to do. This in turn destroys your odds at drawing and you have to fold.
Tiger Gaming does not have proper table stakes. Players are able to take money off the table at any time by simply leaving the table and then buying back in for what they want. This is a feature I like, but many people do not like hit-and-run artists and this "feature" will anger them. Tiger Gaming also has different buy in schemes for their no limit tables than most sites. Instead of a normal 100BB maximum-10BB minimum, Tiger has a 40-50BB minimum (changes at different stakes) and the normal 100BB maximum. I believe this is a good feature since it keeps the table full of players with money, and keeps the guys who buy in very short away from the table.
The Tiger Gaming lobby is a bit small for my tastes. Even at 1280x1024 on a 19" LCD it is small. For people that don't read small type very well it could cause some problems. The games list is quite functional, with the ability to sort by all the normal criteria with the exception of hands/hr. Unlike a lot of other sites the lobby regularly refreshes, once every minute or so when you are active in it. And one other feature is absolutely priceless. Many, many poker sites have had real issues with this feature. It's the dreaded waiting list system. On most sites putting yourself on a waiting list is a crapshoot at best. At Tiger Gaming, it is 100% functional. If you want to play four tables and they are all full, just click on the table in the lobby, click "join waiting list" on each table on the sidebar in the lobby, and when a seat comes open on each table you will be notified and if you want to be, you will be seated. I have yet to find a problem with the system. Getting myself on the max number of tables on a site has never been easier. Five minutes after joining the waiting list on each site just once I am playing on all four. The lobby also houses all the site's options, as well as access to the real time bonus tracker and real time cashier.

TigerGaming.com Poker Room Action
Traffic is definitely an issue, especially at the 50NL+ and 1/2+. But if you are a low stakes player, finding a table at NL5 or NL25 is usually very easy. It is common for there to be between three and six NL25 tables open and between four and eight NL5 tables. Finding a NL50 is harder. If you are lucky there will be one open, on rare occasions two tables. Finding no limit games higher than this is next to impossible. Sometimes there will be a NL100 available but very rarely. I have never seen the NL1000 table populated in my time at the site.
Traffic at the other games is downright awful. They offer Seven Card Stud tables but nobody, and I mean nobody, plays them. I have never seen any of the stud tables populated. Omaha is almost as bad. Usually though there is one table of Omaha going on, usually of the .1/.2 pot limit variety. As for the exotic games, at peak hours it is not hard to get a game going. Since Tiger is the only place for these games out there, there is reasonable traffic. The classic gambling game of Guts usually has two or three tables going, with minimum bets of between 10 and 50 cents.
Overall the action is not good, but if you are a lower stakes player it is not bad either. If you play above 1/2 or 25NL though, I would look elsewhere for a site to play on.

Tiger Gaming.com Customer and Technical Support
Tiger Gaming has 24 hour live online support. They are usually reasonably prompt in responding to an inquiry. The staff is helpful, and the information you request is given to you in a timely manner.
The cashout process to Neteller is not unlike other sites'. Cashouts take 24-48 hours but my experience is that it is always 48+ and never 24. Something odd about cashing out is that they do not process the cashouts on weekends so if you cashout on a Saturday, the money will not be in your account until Wednesday.

TigerGaming.com Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
The players at Tiger Gaming are very bad. They are among the worst you'll encounter. Out of all the online poker rooms I've played at, only Sporting Bet Poker has worse players than Tiger Gaming. Tiger Gaming is full of people who do not play poker very well at all. It is very easy to take their money if you are a good player. Most of the players were loose weak at the 25NL tables I played and would call big raises with very poor cards. Bluffing these players is pointless, as they love to call you down all the way. A large majority of the players do not understand pot odds at all, and will call a pot sized bet on the turn when drawing to an inside straight.
|
|
TigerGaming.com Bonuses and Promotions
offers an unlimited 100% bonus. For each bonus dollar you have to earn 12 POP. 10 POP are earned for each dollar in rake you contribute. Playing a tight style at the NL25 tables, you can expect to earn about 10 POP/table/hour. This is quite slow and the bonus is quite difficult to clear at these levels but definitely not impossible. Moving up to NL50 or NL100 would make the bonus go much faster. Although the low traffic at these levels makes that difficult.
Updated May 10, 2006 - TigerGaming has changed their POP system. Tiger Gaming now uses a percentage of the rake which is equal to the percentage a player has contributed to the pot. This means that if a player has bet and then folded, they will still earn points for the hand. This ultimately means players can clear bonuses faster. Tiger Gamins is also giving 10 POP for each whole dollar of house fees on tournaments. So $10+1 earns 10 POP. $30+3 earns 30 POP etc.

“TigerGaming - Very nice, smaller room” by Frank R, 29 Nov 2005 |
Rakeback: N/A Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
I check out this room, it's quite nice.
The software interface is still lacking
some features, but it's playable for
bonus whoring. The bonus is pretty easy
to earn, but even easier, is playing
against this competition. I'm not sure
where these players came from, but it
wasn't FTR!!! Overall action and
traffic is still low, but I like the
fish. Worth trying out, earning the
bonus, and then you can decide if you
want to stay longer and take more from
the fish.

“It can Bite” by Pinora, 10 Oct 2005 |
Rakeback: N/A Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
interface - simple & functional
action - never had a problem finding a
game
support - awesome, live support & quick
response to email
fish - 10 handed at $50 NL - average 3
sharks : 7 fish
Bonuses - very easy and quick, easy to
track your progess, have made $125 in
reload bonuses
The fish are plentiful, that is true,
but they can put your lights out. I
can't count how many time I've lost AK
to A rag because the guy has paired his
kicker. Preflop raising doesn't disuede
the fish from calling and hoping to hit,
and they do it often enough that you
have to be careful. A lot of complaints
from the sharks when it happens about
the software, and that it's all rigged.
But, lol, I see the exact same
complaints on the reviews for other
sites. PP vs PP, set over set, AA vs KK,
runner runner to make a back door flush
or gutshot. Its wild, and with no
concept of pot odds, the fish will hang
on with grim determination. Really, the
sharks should know better than to get
angry about it. Doyle is the first one
to say "NEVER bluff a weak player!".
All in all, its probably the same at
most small stake games, I just find the
layout the simplest and least cluttered.
So where is this review coming from, to
help you decide if it is useful at all.
34 year old rank amateur, playing on
line since February, tried a few other
sites, like this one best. I have
withdrawn $2K (quick problem free
payouts)from an original $5.00 promo
bucks they gave me. Tight aggressive
will win out in the long run, but in the
short term, the shark will choke on the
school of fish and have to cough it up
every now and then. Bottom line is, nice
site, friendly fish, great support, no
hassle payouts, easy bonus system. As
for on line gaming software in general,
I have asked myself, if I owned such a
site, and someone showed me how to
"juice" the software for more action
to increase the rake, would I? Yes, I
probably would. But I don't know of any
scientific studies that have proven it,
so I will just assume that just like
anything else in life, the odds favor
the house. |
“Very Quiet, Bankroll Builder” by Bizzle, 10 Aug 2005 |
Rakeback: N/A Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
TigerGaming is a great place to play if
you love fish & huge deposit bonuses.
There are easily 2-4 fish on every
table, even at the higher no limit
stakes of N/L $50 & N/L $100. The
deposit deposit has no ceiling, so you
can clear bonuses of $500 to $1,000 (or
more) if you multitable the higher
stakes games. The in-game graphics are
very appealing and the lobby has a good
organization of games and limits.
The Betting The Pot option actually
works to your advantage because fish
will bet hands like 'top pair trash
kicker' hard and it is easy to trap
with sets and straights.
The traffic is very poor. It is rare
that you'll find more than 3 or 4 full
tables of middle/high stakes games (N/L
$50 or up; L$3/6 or up).
There's also a lot of table talk on
this site - more than I've seen on any
other site. If you like chatting, this
may make your poker experience more
enjoyable. However, for those who think
it slows down the game, you'll cringe.
You can always turn off the players
notes (but people will still take the
full time limit to play their hands
while chatting away).
One thing that drove me absolutely crazy
was the amount of disconnection cheating
at the low/mid limits (N/L $25 often,
sometimes N/L $50). Players are provided
with 2 all-in protections every 24 hours
and some POS use both of them every day
by disconnecting from the server when
faced with a difficult decision (for a
fish, this would be folding middle pair
to a moderate bet). Allowing a cheat to
see the turn & river for free (and
sucking out on you) when you know
you've just been robbed is extremely
irritating. Be prepared for this...
It's a nice site to play on to build a
bankroll, but it's very quiet. I
wouldn't recommend it as your sole
online pokerroom. |
