SunPoker.net is a small free play poker room to help you start off your online game. Compared to other poker rooms, SunPoker.net is pretty much non-existent with only about 50 average players connected, but if you enjoy a smaller game it might be right for you. I only noticed three no-limit hold'em tables active, and the players were loaded with chips. There currently were no sit & gos or multi-table tournaments offered.

SunPoker.net occasionally gives away great opportunities and freerolls. In 2006 they gave away $15,000 for a WSOP main event seat and spending money to one lucky player. They may offer more special giveaways so make sure you check out SunPoker.net for more details.

Tournament Rake Calculations:
Players get rakeback on all of their tournament entry fees.

Ring Game Rake Calculations:
Players get rake back whenever they are dealt cards in a raked pot whether they play the hand or not. If a rake is generated in a hand then this is split equally among the players on the table that were dealt cards. The rake back is a percentage of the rake generated attributed to their playing, so if you have 10 players and all receive cards, and a rake of $1 is generated then each player will effectively have earnt $0.1 in rake. Since our players get 30% rake back then in this scenario our player would receive 30% of 10 cents or 3 cents even if he or she folded pre-flop.

Sun Poker has worked with FTR to provide a 30% rake back to any of our players. You must be new to and sign up through an FTR link to join the rakeback program.

Sun Poker provides a web page to monitor your rake amounts so you can always check your own statistics, whenever you want. Visit to check your rakeback amounts.

Sun Poker has really made a bold move to allow our players this deal. They basically are giving up 50% of their own profits and giving it to you! Because of this, I would expect Sun Poker's player base to start increasing which is also good for you!

, brought to you by Peak Entertainment, is a CryptoLogic software skin, sharing the same tables and players as and William Hill Poker. Sun Poker is also known as Sun Poker or SunPoker.com. At Sun Poker/SunPoker you can choose to play Texas Hold 'Em, 7 Card Stud, Omaha High and Omaha High/Low. They also have daily tournaments where you can test your skills against the best from all over the world.

Here is what they say about the Sun/SunPoker banking options:

's software has a nice look to it, I like the red color theme. Sun/SunPoker offers tons of options for the user to personalize the look and feel of the Sun poker room. You can choose what background color you want to see for the cards - the choices are red, blue, black and light blue. You can also choose between a 4 color deck and a regular deck. I like leaving the default "Choose At Game Time" option for showing/hiding winning hands and showing/hiding losing hands. Normally I don't like to show my cards. However, once in awhile I'll show a bluff I think it will help me up and/or loosen up the table. The Sun Poker display has checkbox options for Bet Amounts, Hand Value, Play Money Tables, Location, Card Animations and Chip Animations. I like leaving all these checked except for the Play Money Tables. I have the chat set to Normal Messages with the Show Player Chat and Show Observer Chat options checked. There is one thing odd about the Sun chat that I noticed in a Multi-Table Tourney - chat is not disabled when a player is all-in. Other rooms tend to disable this feature when a player has moved all chips in.

When using sound I leave the Dealer Voice, Chip Sound and Card Sounds options checked. However, the Sun Poker window must be the active window on your desktop for the sound effects to take effect.

One drawback with the SunPoker Log Viewer is that it only goes back 25 hands or 30 minutes on the main screen. However, the options let you keep all logs so it is confusing to know what choices there are in checking old hands.

The poker player notes seem to work reasonably well but I never did see a fish finder.

It is nice to know that the Sun Poker room tries to protect players by cracking down on collusion. Here is what they say about it on the website:

What is done about collusion?
The Sun Poker™ Room has various methods of monitoring play at tables.

Should card room administrators believe that players are playing in collusion, the players in question will have their accounts suspended immediately and permanently.
The Sun installation was interesting, but very easy, you download the usual setup.exe and then it downloads more software packages to install. If you prefer not to download the poker software, you can also play right from their website. Sun Poker recently launched a no-download version of their amazing poker software. This means that all operating systems can play at Sun Poker, Windows, Mac, or Linux! Players will not loose graphic quality with the new Flash version. The graphical richness remains identical with the ability to resize the poker table to your preferred size without sacrificing quality. If you have a Mac computer and are trying to find a room, look no further than Sun Poker!

The action at is better than what I've been used to at FastPoker and BoDog. It is nice to be in a room again where one can find good cash games and Sit and Gos all throughout the day. Don't get me wrong, they don't have as much action as Party Poker and Empire Poker, but Sun/SunPoker is party of the Crtypologic network, so this room has players from InterPoker and William Hill.

Sun Poker has live chat on the web site for support. The live chat in the poker interface says it is temporarily disabled. The chat is kind of strange in that the most recent statements go at the top of the window instead of the bottom. I used the chat feature to ask about my bonus, the transcript is below(again I think it is great that they have live chat but it is very difficult to read it after-the-fact since they have it upside down):
Eric: thanks for your help.
Eric: ok
charisma: so give them a call
charisma: our Ecash team will be able to help you for sure
charisma: No that I know of sorry
Eric: is there any place on the website that talks about the different currency used?
charisma: you can contact them at TOLL FREE 1-888-872-2238 or International 00-800-2872-2238
charisma: as they deal with all of our finances
charisma: may I ask that you contact our Ecash team for that information
charisma: I'm sorry but I am not sure of the conversion
charisma: you can check th elog viewer in the games menue to see how you are doing with your wagers
Eric: can you tell me the approximate value of the dollar to the pound to the other currencies?
Eric: also, I see that different currencies are used for the games.
Eric: ok, is there any way for me to check through the interface or do I have to contact support each time?
charisma: Please accept my apologies for this
charisma: therefore I am unable to tell you your status
charisma: because you just set up the account I don't have the details until tomorrow
Eric: yesterday
charisma: when may I ask did you set upi this account?
charisma: just a sec
charisma: I'll use your Username
Eric: my login name is ERockDog, where do I go to get the acct num?
charisma: may I have your account number please
Eric: where do i go for that?
charisma: sure
Eric: I want to check on my bonus status
OPERATOR: Hi Eric, how can we help?

The players I faced at Sun Poker/SunPoker were a little bit better than the players I faced recently at FastPoker and Bodog. I'm not saying the Sun Poker players are superstars, but they seemed to have an idea as to when they were beat and when they should lay down a hand. For those of you who prefer to play against players who have somewhat of a clue, this is not a bad place.

I took second place out of 14 in my first MTT at Sun/SunPoker. Click here to see the Sun MTT Screen Shots.

The stakes are a little bit higher here at Sun Poker/SunPoker, not offering any of the micro-stakes that some other poker rooms offer, so the players might be a bit more experienced.

In summary, has some nice bonuses, and they don't even require a deposit! First, for all new accounts, you can earn $500 free on any deposit amount! All you have to do is be register a new account through the links on this page, sign up, make a deposit (any amount), and earn MPPs. You can earn up to $500 your first month at the following rate:

160 MPPs - $20
400 MPPs - $30 ($50 total)
800 MPPs - $50 ($100 total)
1200 MPPs - $50 ($150 total)
1600 MPPs - $50 ($200 total)
5000 MPPs - $300 ($500 total)

One important thing to note is that to earn the last $300, you MUST e-mail NewPlayerBonus@sunpoker.com AFTER you have earned 5000 MPPs on your first month. Earning the first $200 should be fairly easy to do in the month, but it's the extra $300 with 5000 MPPs that might be difficult. Also, you can potentially earn $500 even with just a small $10 deposit, but I wouldn't recommend trying unless you could play at lease 50nl (with around $1000 deposit). Otherwise it may be impossible to take full advantage. Now, if you are not a first time depositor, don't worry, you can still take advantage of Sun Poker's $200 free no deposit bonus every month! You earn this the same way as described above, except you can not earn the last $300. No bonus codes are required for any bonuses.

Earning MPPs is fairly simple, just play like you normally would and you are rewarded them base on the rake or tournament fees. If the rake is .25 or lower, no MPPs are awarded, .25 - .99 = .25 MPP, 1 - 3 = 1 MPP. This shows that points are earned MUCH easier at higher limits, since you earn just 1/4 point when the rake is under 1 unit, and 1 point when 1 unit or above. 3 MPPs are also earned for every $1 in tournament fees paid.

Sun Poker also offers jackpots to its players!

The Bad Beat Jackpot will never drop below the minimum of $2,500.00. Every morning at 12:00 AM EST, the jackpot will increase by $150.00. Four of a kind Jacks or better must be beat to qualify.

“rakebake v bonus” by dabill, 06 Feb 2008

Rakeback:  2/5   Interface:  3/5   Action:  2/5   Support:  4/5   Fish:  2/5   Bonus:  4/5

ive beeb playing at sun a couple of months, partly because of the rakeback program.however beginning of january i thought i would reload with $200 to take advantage of the monthly bonus plus 50% rakeback.after reaching 500 p/points $200 bonus was credited to my account at this point there were about 10 days to wait for my rakeback, so i went to ladbrokes, where earning points for rakeback/freerolls is very easy. the rakeback at sun arrived in my a/cc 5february.however it was no where near what i was expecting,as sun explained in the email all bets used to clear a bonus (which is most of the time)do not count towards your rakeback dollars.i did not see any explanation of this on their website before hand.i was under thr impression if you reload each month you received 50% of your rake, plus your bonus if cleared.the reality is you get a small % of rakeback if you reload and clear your monthly bonus.i hope this will be of help to those of you who are enticed by such bonuses/rakeback as i was with sunpoker rakeback 50%?.afterall the pokersites ambiguous marketing is for a reason!

“New Rakeback” by DeezNutz, 15 Jun 2007

Rakeback:  5/5   Interface:  4/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  5/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  5/5

I for one am excited for this new rakeback scale coming on July 1st. I play a lot of hands there and for the mid to larger player, the rakeback is going to be significantly more money back in my pocket. With the $1,000 bonus and $500 no deposit bonus, it's going to be easy to come out way ahead with this poker room every month. I just wish they had more high limit games available at non-peak times. That's about my only complaint with this room. Anyone looking for a great room that's not one of the Big boys, this should be your first stop. And be sure to get rakeback with FTR before signing up at Sun. It's too easy!

“Sun Poker Review” by Frank, 15 Jun 2007

Rakeback:  3/5   Interface:  2/5   Action:  2/5   Support:  3/5   Fish:  3/5   Bonus:  4/5

What? Sun Poker just decided to change their rakeback policies to screw existing rakeback players? I don't get it. Things were so good for a long time. Supposed to occur on July 1, 2007 - so we'll see what happens, I'm not sure exactly what's going to happen, but I did receive a heads up. I hate to see sudden changes in the terms and agreements, especially when they're meant to benefit the poker room and put more money in their pockets. However, Sun Poker is a good place to play, with great bonuses, reloads, service, etc... I'm on the fence whether to continue playing there, I guess it all depends on what happens to my rakeback over the coming months. Good Luck!

“Carribbean Sun shines Brightly” by Berksmickey, 15 Nov 2005

Rakeback:  5/5   Interface:  4/5   Action:  4/5   Support:  5/5   Fish:  4/5   Bonus:  5/5

Rakeback Program - Admittedly i accidently signed up directly, instead of through the link, but a couple of emails to the admin folks of FTR and another one to the website directly and I was ready to go. The customer service folks were 100% helpful and friendly and a response was lightening quick in all instances. Interface / Usability - Pretty good, no fancy graphics or anything, just solid easy-to-browse table lists showing stakes, players involved, average pots etc. Room Action - Most tables are always busy, at all levels. I am still a newbie so only play the lower stakes, but i've still made over $100 in profit off just a few hours a weeks play at $0.25 / $0.50 Technical / Customer Support - This is where these guys stand out for me. They respond amazingly fast to emails, and i mean within an Hour sometimes. NTL have still not responded to an email i sent months ago!!!! So, you can feel 100% totally sure that if you have a problem, these guys will step up and help and so far i have always had an agreable resolution. Ease of money / Fishy's - As i 've only played at low levels its hard to give a good estimate, but as stated above i have made $100 profit in 2 months, only playing a couple of hours a week at low level stakes, and im $10 away from making my 2nd $100 bucks. So, take from that what you will. Bonus / promotions - The rakeback program is awsome, my first payment came through recently and i was amazed it was soo high considering how little i felt i'd played. This is an absolute must if you are going to sign up. Good matching bonus too, i deposited $20 and got another $20 back within a the month (playing 100 raked hands). Overall, this has been my favourite site so far (i've played at 3 in total) and i thoroughly recommend it for both Newbies and Seasoned hands alike!!! Get playing!

“Caribbean Sun - It's Ok” by SeriousPlayer, 07 Jul 2005

Rakeback: N/A   Interface:  2/5   Action:  2/5   Support:  3/5   Fish:  2/5   Bonus:  4/5

It's ok, the recurring bonuses are great. Players and games are a bit limited, but this is a place worth playing.

“Mediocre room” by Nobody, 13 Jun 2005

Rakeback: N/A   Interface:  1/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  2/5   Fish:  4/5   Bonus:  3/5

Mediocre support, crappy software, mediocre action, not-so-bad bonuses.

“Underrated” by Badger, 23 May 2005

Rakeback: N/A   Interface:  5/5   Action:  5/5   Support:  5/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  5/5

One of the most underrated rooms on the Internet. The action here has increased substantially over the past few months because of all the marketing attention the Crypto rooms have seen. Their stock price has skyrocketed. You're going to get a lot of novice players here because of Caribbean Sun's sister property the Sands. A lot of blackjack players will try their hand at poker because it's hot and they just get eaten up. If you have any experience playing poker, you won't have much of a problem earning here, although a lot of experienced players are now catching onto this room also because of its killer bonus structure. One of the few poker rooms to give ATTAINABLE bonuses every month. None of this deposit $5000 and get $50 B.S. They give you an honest $40 straight up every month. Good luck!

 “Ok I guess” by mattperkins26, 28 Apr 2005

Rakeback: N/A   Interface:  2/5   Action:  2/5   Support:  5/5   Fish:  3/5   Bonus:  4/5

I find the pace of the games on this sight to be a lot slower than the Party Poker skins. Also, I don't know if it is just me, but the tables hurt my eyes a little when I have 2+ tables open at the same time. The players are ok, but there are definitely some wild players at the limit that I play (NL 0.5/1.00) who will go all in on a flush draw or high pair. I don't find the quality of players any better than PP, and maybe even a little worse. Tourneyment selection is also a little weak. I find I have to sort by number signed up and have to take what's available at the time. This sight needs more players.

“Caribbean Sun Poker” by Frank R, 28 Mar 2005

Rakeback: N/A   Interface:  3/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  3/5   Fish:  3/5   Bonus:  3/5

Caribbean Sun Poker is a Cryptologic skin, so same as InterPoker. These are very solid and decent rooms. My experience has been that overall the players are not bad. I like playing here because I'm not going to get sucked out on a runner-runner as often as a total fish bowl poker room.

“Great Poker Room!!!” by TopGambler, 21 Mar 2005

Rakeback: N/A   Interface:  4/5   Action:  4/5   Support:  5/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  5/5

An up an coming Poker room. Software is good, but when it comes to the important stuff, they know how to treat the poker player. Their staff is always there, and with the bonuses, Caribbean Sun is the first to deliver with their low hand requirement. Only 500 hands required for $40. This is EVERY 500 hands. Great bonus. Straight up and to the point! Not like these other sites that have all the fine print. I'm consistently up on this poker room every month. There are so many fish there it's ridiculous. Crypto rooms and this one in particular are noted for their fish. Take the path less traveled and you'll be happy.
