Sportsbook Poker.com Review
is a skin on the Cake Poker Network and currently accepts US players from all states. Sportsbook Poker offers Limit, Pot-limit, and No-limit Hold’em; Limit and Pot-limit Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo; and 7 Card Stud in regular and Hi/Lo variations. Stakes range from $0.02 No-limit up to $200 No-limit. If your main focus is low-to-mid stakes Texas Hold’em ring games, you will have no trouble finding some action. Most players are playing in the $.25 - $.50 range and also the $1 - $2 range, where numerous tables will be found for those limits. Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo have active tables, although not an extraordinarily high number. Most of the action for Omaha is concentrated at the lower stakes. The least popular games at Sportsbook are 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo. Don’t be surprised to get a “no games found for this selection” result if you go searching for Stud.
Sit & Go tournaments are quite popular at Sportsbook Poker. At any given time you can usually find 100+ running, with most of the games in the $5 - $20 range. Unlike the ring games, the SnGs at Sportsbook see a good amount of action at the higher stakes. The different SnG games offered are heads-up, 10 player regular and turbo, 6 max regular and turbo, various shootouts, and bounties. The most popular tournament is the $12 + $1 turbo at 6 max, and the most unique is the $20 + $2 bounty. When you register for this tournament, half of your $20 buy-in goes to the prize pool and the other half is over your head. If you knock out any of the opponents during the match, you receive $10. Some other rooms also offer bounty tournaments but usually they are multi-table and not Sit and Go.
Multi-Table tournaments also are quite popular at Sportsbook Poker. They are starting to build a larger player base with their daily and weekly guaranteed tournaments. Everyday they have tournaments with guaranteed prize pools ranging from $1500 up to $10,000. They host a weekly $100,000 guarantee and a monthly $250,000 guarantee. All of their popular tournaments are No-limit Hold’em, with a few Omaha and Limit Hold’em. Other various tourneys they offer are bounty tournaments, giveaways, and freerolls throughout the week.
While playing real money ring games or tournaments, you earn ‘Frequent Player Points’ (FPPs) at Sportsbook Poker. For every $1 in rake you can earn from 1 FPP up to 3 FPPs per hand. You also earn 7 FPPs per $1 in tournament fees. While earning FPPs, you also earn ‘Gold Chips’. The amount of Gold Chips you get depends on the amount of FPPs earned in a certain month. The more points earned, the easier Gold Chips are awarded. Progress towards Gold Chip accumulation is kept track of on a Gold Chip Meter. This shows how close you are to earning your next Gold Chip (based on the amount of FPPs you still need). Currently, Gold Chips can be used to buy into special freerolls which have prize pools ranging from $1200 up to $3000. You can also buy into special WSOP Main Event giveaways with Gold Chips. FPPs are also used to track bonuses, which are described in detail below.
Another unique promotion that Sportsbook Poker offers is called the ‘Gold Card’. Once a set rake has been reached at a table, a golden card will be generated at the end of the hand. If that card happens to match any of the players' hole cards, even if they folded, they win that Gold Card. If no one had a matching hole card, the process will continue until someone wins a card. Gold Cards can lead to more winnings in the Gold Card Daily Lottery, the Gold Card 500 Weekly Race, guaranteed cash prizes, and a $52,000 Grand Prize to those players that can collect all 52 cards in the Gold Cards deck.
Currently, there are only two methods for depositing at Sportsbook Poker: Visa/Mastercard and Cash Transfer. They really need to offer more options in the near future, as many people are rejected when trying to deposit with credit cards.
Sportsbook Poker.com Software Interface/Usability
The lobby at is laid out very nicely. You can select between Ring and Tournament games at the top of the screen. When searching for ring games, you can sort tables by any manner, limit, stake or type just by clicking on the category headers that are across the top. You can also select Rewards or Cashier to view current promotions and to check your bonus status. A separate tournament lobby button at the bottom of the original lobby will display more detailed information about a highlighted tournament. One thing that may confuse some people is you must select “Sit 'n Go” in the tournament lobby to find the SnG tournaments and “Scheduled” to find the regularly scheduled MTT’s. To assist in finding your game, you can opt to hide full tables and completed/running tournaments from view.
Sportsbook Poker offers 10-max full ring tables and 6-max shorthanded for every limit. When you first create your account, you chose a nickname and a real life avatar to go with your account. There are several different life-like avatars for you to choose from and they can be changed at any time. Avatars are optional, so if they’re not your thing you’re not forced to have one or view them. One neat feature is that you can change your username once every 7 days. You can select the color of the card deck and opt to have a four color deck. There are two different table skins to choose between. Sportsbook also has unique betting option buttons: 1/2 Pot; Pot; and All-in. These really help speed up the action when multi-tabling.
Hand histories are instantly available at the table. You can click “last hand” to bring up the viewer. One thing to mention is that the hand histories are not displayed in text: they are in a picture format. Some may find these hard to read and difficult to follow the action with. However, you can save hand histories to your computer in text format and review them that way.
SportsbookPoker Poker Room Action
There is some pretty decent action at . It isn’t near the top 10 of most popular poker rooms, but you can definitely find a game for your bankroll. The average number of players connected is around 5000, with more during peak hours (holidays, weekends, and evenings). As stated before, most of the ring game traffic is Hold’em and mainly No-limit Hold’em. If you are looking for Omaha, there is a decent amount of traffic during peak times. Otherwise there are fewer than 4 tables running at each stake up to $1/$2. Up to $5/$10 there is only about 1 table running at each stake. As for 7-Card Stud, they rarely, if ever, run. Definitely check elsewhere for Stud games. However, the player base has grown substantially and continues upward each day!
Sportsbook Poker's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
There seemed to be an average number of fish at . Because this poker room still accepts US players you would expect it to be swimming full of fish, but this isn't the case. The few depositing options limit the amount of weak players at their poker room. If there were more deposit options offered there would definitely be more whales. You will always notice some weak players that can be exploited, so it is definitely worth giving Sportsbook Poker a try, especially considering the nice deposit bonus.
