Nuts (Cool):

Large user base. Recently upgraded their software for even better gameplay. Very nice 'mini view' so you can play 5 tables at a time with no overlap. Rake-free $1.00 MTTs. Nice $1000 welcome bonus! Lobby is very nicely constructed. Online 'Flash' website version of poker software.

Beats (Suck):

Queues for low limit games can get large, more tables do not seem to get created when demand implies they should. Customer support form requires you to enter a lot of information which should be auto populated. Initial deposit bonus can only be cleared if you play at $1/$2 or higher. No player points.

As a part of the Prima Poker Network, shares players with Battlefield Poker, Bet 365 Poker, Crazy Poker, PokerTime, Pokerium and other rooms. It varies from room to room on the Prima network if US players are accepted, however unfortunately Purple Lounge does not accept any US players.

is a strangely named, and not surprisingly very purple, poker room. It is part of the very large Prima Poker network with a good solid user base. In addition to Texas Hold’em, you can find plenty of action on 5/7 Card Stud and Omaha Hi-Lo variants. Mostly everyone will be seated at the low/mid staked NLHE, being spread across currencies. Make sure you take note the currency of the table as you sit down, because $100 NL is much different than £100 NL. You can select either GBP(£) Euro (€) or US Dollar($) as your currency, and you can deposit and withdraw using a very wide range of options, namely NETeller, EcoCard, CLICK2PAY, credit/debit cards, Western Union and FirePay.

There are a variety of tournaments offered at Purple Lounge, including daily $1.5k ($3.5 buyin), $2.25k ($11 buyin), $3k ($16.5 buyin), $4k ($22 buyin), $7.5k ($22 buyin), and $17.5k ($22 rebuy) guaranteed prize pools. They also offer weekly $50k extreme stack ($110 buyin), and $175k ($65 buyin) on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively. You can also register for the Deep Purple $20,000 freeroll on the second Saturday of every month, all you have to do it play at real money tables! The more you play, the better your stack size! You can increase your starting stack from 2,000 up to 10,000 by playing for 20 days (40 hours) in the previous month.

The account setup was nice and easy, although I had to wait for an activation email to be sent before I could complete my registration and connect to the real cash poker games. It took 20 minutes for this email to arrive – not a lifetime, but if I was just signing up to a new site for the first time and was desperate to play, that delay would be long enough for me to go and find another site, join it, deposit money, and start playing. It’s little things like this that can lose a site a lot of potential players.

The Purple Lounge lobby is nicely laid out, and the average $ pot and players/flop are displayed as you would expect from all poker sites these days (but amazingly there are still some that do not provide this). Purple Lounge also recently upgraded their software, so it now runs smoother than ever! This includes improved sound quality and avatars. You can now have your own unique avatar, or if you wish, you can turn them off completely. There is also now a hand replay feature, which can be very useful (acts as a instant HH viewer). Use the hand replay feature to find out what the other players called you to the river with, even if they muck their hand! All of the above features and many, many more are customizable by you the player, meaning the choice is yours as to how you play!

There are plenty of options which you can customize at Purple Lounge, including more common features such as a 4 color deck. This is one of the few sites that offers a “mini view” option for the tables – this is superb – and allows you to play up to 5 tables at a time with no overlap at all. It takes a little getting used to, but if you like to multi table and don’t have a huge monitor, this feature alone could make this site worth playing over any other. With Mini-View you can cut down the graphics on your screen, leaving you with just the important information you need to win. (Tip when using Mini-view: Move tables by clicking in the middle of them!)

There is also a web based “Flash” version of the poker client which means you can play on non-Windows machines, or sneak in a game of poker from the office.

The software runs extremely well and cannot be faulted. You can also save HH files on your computer and use them with Poker Tracker to track how well you are crushing the games!

and the Prima network have plenty of action at all times of day, on all of the different game types, at the lower levels. However don’t expect to find many players at much above the $2/$4 stakes – they are fairly dead. Action across single table and multi table tournaments is also very good, but again concentrated heavily towards the very low limits.

Just three months ago the average user count on Prima was around 7,000 – today it is over 9,000 – which shows that with the introduction of more and more skins like Purple Lounge, the user base is growing at a very healthy rate. It obviously is not the biggest poker network around, but it’s certainly impressive enough to make this a viable choice instead of the huge networks.

One slight criticism is that at the lower limit tables, the queues can often get silly – at the time of writing there is a $10nl table with a queue of 12. Sometimes new tables are simply not available, and other times for some reason people will not join an empty table and try to get it going even though there might be 20 or 30 people in the queues for 3 or 4 full tables. You also find that if you do spot table with 8/10 or 4/6 players, by the time you’ve joined it, the seats are full. You really do need to enter all tables (unless they are almost completely empty) by using the waiting list feature.

There are a few ways you can contact customer support at Purple Lounge. One is by using the “support” link on the lobby menu, and filling out a rather poorly designed help form. It stars by asking you your Name, your username, your last deposit amount for security (?), your email address, then finally your subject and message. Now I’m sorry but if I am already logged on to your poker site, and have hit this “support” link, surely you should already know who I am. You can also contact them via a form on their website, or by sending them an e-mail directly:

E-mail: support@purple-lounge.com

Despite this, the speed and quality of reply is very good, but as they are now a very large poker network, they should invest in a live online support feature, or at very least tidy up the support form so you don’t need to enter useless information that they should already know about you. Live support is great at other rooms and would be a huge plus at Purple Lounge.

The quality of action at Purple Lounge and the Prima Network would most accurately be described as “average”. There are much easier poker sites out there, and there are much harder poker sites out there. This site seems to have a nice balance of good players and fish, which means you should theoretically experience fewer suckouts. Good poker playing on this site will be rewarded.

Because they don't accept US players, this will be one of the fishier Prima sites. Purple Lounge definitely won't have as much as a selection as some of the pro US giants, but I guarantee you will find more donks! Tournament play however does seem to be of a good standard – even at the low limits – and hence this is probably not the best site to choose if you are a below average tournament player, there are many easier SNG/MTT networks to play on.

When you sign up at , you can take advantage of their 100% initial deposit match bonus up to a maximum of $1,000! This is a HUGE bonus, however you need to play at the $1/$2 tables or higher in order to clear it – which you do at the rate of $1 per 20 raked hands. This is one of the fastest clearing bonuses available, but the high limit restrictions can really hold a lot of people back. You need to be able to play limit or have a decent sized bankroll to sit at the no-limit tables. Tournament play does not clear the bonus. In addition to the $1000 match bonus, you will also be given $10 free for any deposit you make. Even though $10 free isn't much when you make a $1000 deposit, it's still $10 of free money that will appear in your account within 24 hours! The $10 free bonus can be cleared simply by playing 100 raked hands.

There is also a bad beat bonus which increases all the time until it is won, the current value is shown in the lobby at all times.

You do not need to enter anything into the Promotion Code field during the registration process, these bonuses and promotions will automatically get applied to you if you click through our links to sign up to Purple Lounge. So don't worry about leaving the Promotion Code field blank, you'll still receive these great sign-up bonuses!

Other bonuses are often available, for example they are currently holding a Mad Dash For Cash contest. Basically, all you need to do is play, and play a lot. If you happen to pay the most rake in the month, you will win a cool $3500! If you play the most raked hands, you will have 8000 reasons to be happy, with a huge $8000 bonus! They also award the top 50 players, so make sure you play as much as you can to win some cash!

“Outstanding” by dBigMac, 04 Mar 2008

Interface:  3/5   Action:  5/5   Support:  4/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  5/5

Things have changed since the last review I guess! Tons of tables, TONS of FISH everywhere. Good bonus offer and some very interesting tournaments inc a $20,000 freeroll where you get more chip depending on the amount you have played in the previous month. Not too sure about the lobby, but once your sat at the tables it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

I can't attest to the rest of the site, as I'm a bottomfeeder. At the low limits ($3/6 and lower) VERY few fish from what I was used to. If you want quality oppos, this place will give you a battle. Also, few tables w/only 6ring games. Bonus is good, and the site is very well designed for multitabling, however the low limit games all seemed to be Turbo pace on default, so multitabling takes some skill.
