Poker.com Overview
has, undoubtedly, the easiest to remember and most expensive domain name of all the poker rooms on the internet. Does the rest of the experience live up to the name? Read on.
The site and software underwent a major overhaul in May 2005. Poker.com currently however offers just two types of Poker, Holdem and Omaha. They do state on their homepage that others will be “coming soon” but there is no indication of when this will occur.
Supported financial methods are Neteller, Click2Pay, Credit/Debit Card, wire transfer and Citadel. It is important to note however that withdrawals can not be made back to credit cards.
Poker.com Software Interface/Usability
The
client software is nicely written, neat and clear. At first glance it comes across as being very easy to use and has lots of functions. When you dig deeper however, there are some flaws which will make it awkward for some more experienced players.
First, there is no “number of players connected” display. So without scrolling through the tables, you can’t be sure whether there are lots of players online. Secondly, the poker software limits you to a single window. Want to launch 4 tables? No problem. Want to see 4 tables? No way. Instead, you get “tabs” along the top of the window which you have to click on to jump from one table to another. This invariably leads to confusion and hitting the wrong button on the wrong table.
Other than these two problems, the interface is nice to use. If you only play a single table at any one time and don’t care how many other players are online, you will have little to complain about here. The table graphics are nice and clear, and there are the usual options such as 4 colour deck.
Poker.com Poker Room Action
The site appears to be fairly busy, but without any “number of players currently connected” display some estimation has to be done.
The lower level limit cash games certainly always seem to have plenty of action and full tables. As you work your way up the limits, action deteriorates very rapidly. Over several sessions I did not see anybody sitting at a table with blinds higher than $1/$2 for no limit.
Tournaments fill up very quickly, even the higher limit ones, for both single table and multi table.
Overall, this site would suit low limit cash players and low to high limit tournament players.
Poker.com's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
The players on
range from fairly weak to extremely good. Even at the lower levels you can find some very tough opponents. Around the $0.10/$0.25 no limit tables, player/flop percentages usually average below 40% which indicates a tighter level of play than you would normally expect at this level.
I sat at a number of tables for a number of hours over a number of sessions, and although there were quite a lot of bad players, the number of fish weren’t as high as you would like to see.
This is one of the tougher sites to play at without a doubt.
Poker.com Coupon Code, Bonuses, and Promotions
has a 100% initial match deposit up to a maximum of $200 if you enter the Coupon Code: 100FIRST1K. To clear the bonus, you must earn “comp points”, and you will receive $1 of bonus for each 150 points that you earn. You need to clear the entire bonus before it will be paid however.
You can earn comp points a number of ways, and the calculations are fairly complicated. You earn different amounts for playing tournaments and for playing cash games depending on the level you are playing at.
When using this Coupon Code, you also receive 1 free entry into any $1,000 freeroll!
The friend referral bonus is very good. You receive $25 in your bonus account when they make their first deposit. The referred player then needs to play just 100 raked hands and the $25 is released in full to your account. You do not need to clear the bonus yourself.

Poker.com Customer and Technical Support
Technical support is a real major let down of an otherwise very good poker room. There is no live support, and no telephone support. Therefore you have to resort to email which they claim will be answered with 30 minutes. However, out of three emails that have been sent over a 2 day period, only one was answered – and the reply took 36 hours.
This apparent lack of support is disturbing – I only dread to think what would happen if I had a real urgent issue and all I could do was email their black hole support desk.
