Nuts (Cool): |

PokerWorld still accepts US players! Nice initial deposit bonus up to $500. Weak players and great tournaments/satellites. Also, love the addition of a straddle and chop button in the game. Support desk is decent. |

Beats (Suck): |
|
Horrible traffic, and little to no action in any of the games across all stakes. Poker World's MTT schedule is very bad and rarely any tournaments above $22 (most MTTs get under 100 players). Player Reward points can't be used for much, and their store only has a few items. |

Poker World.com Review
started off small and has since moved around quite a lot to various networks. You never know if they are going to stay put indefinitely, but for now they are located on the Gold Chip network. This is a newer network with a lot of smaller poker rooms that still accepts US players from all locations. That's nice and all, but they really need to work something out to get more traffic to their site.
At Poker World, you will find no limit, pot limit, and limit Texas Hold'em, pot limit and limit Omaha/Omaha 8, 7 Card Stud, and a unique game of no limit 3 Card Poker. Because traffic is limited (300 connected players in the afternoon on a Thursday) don't expect to find anything besides no limit hold'em running. In fact, you're pretty lucky if you can even find a few tables of your limit. Usually the highest limit you will find running is 100nl, with an occasional donk fest 400nl table running. They offer a range of stakes from $.02 - $.04 all the way up to $25 - $50, but I've never seen a high stakes game running once. It is possible to play at Poker World if you're into cash games, but I wouldn't expect to have more than 3 tables of any stake running at once.
If however you're into tournaments, I'm just going to say stay away from Poker World. Sit & Gos are completely deserted, and I only saw a few $5.50s running at once. It will be impossible to play at Poker World if you want to grind out SnGs. The same can be said for their MTTs, but they are a bit better. They offer some guaranteed prize pools, but some of them are pretty laughable. For example, they have daily $10 ($1 buy-in) and $20 ($2 buy-in) guaranteed; yes that is TEN and TWENTY dollar guaranteed prize pools! Think about this, they have $1 tournaments were the guarantee is for 10 players max, what are they scared of an overlay? They also host some better daily guarantees, such as their $10 + $1 ($500 gtd), and $25 + $2.5 ($1000 gtd), which can have some overlays because usually there is never more than 50 players in any tournament.
While playing real money games, you will collect PokerWorld Points. They are given out at the rate of 10 points for every $1 in rake, so 1 point per 10 cents in rake. You earn points whether or not you see a flop, just as long as you are dealt cards. For example, if 10 players receive cards and the total rake for that hand is $2, each player's involvement rake or contribution to the rake will be $0.20 or 2 points. Basically, the main use for these are to earn bonuses, but they do serve some other minor purposes. They have a merchandise store, which only has 4 items; 500 piece chip set, Super System 2, a PokerWorld hat, and business cards. Yes, you can get a business card that says you're a professional poker player at PokerWorld; weird! Also, you can use them to buy into special freerolls which are offered weekly.

Poker World Software Interface/Usability
I actually like the layout and software at
. It isn't anything flashy, and doesn't have a lot of the features you will find at larger rooms, but it works. The lobby is layed out nicely with tabs and checks to find and filter games/limits. Also for tournaments it pops up a separate lobby, which I liked a lot. You can then search through the cash games and tournaments at the same time. Other than that there isn't much to talk about in the lobby as there aren't any "ground breaking" features, it just serves its purpose finding the games.
While at the table, play seems to be about normal speed compared to other rooms. Players don't have a time bank, but are given 30 seconds to make a decision on every street which is more than enough (sometimes too much and people can be very slow, which is frustrating). The tables are in 9 max full ring, 6 max shorthanded, and heads up for every limit. Almost every single active table will be 6 max so make sure your shorthanded game is up good! You can play up to 6 tables at once, which is plenty based on the traffic. They also have a mini-view (see above) but it is so small that I find it really hard to follow the action.
There are only a few options you can adjust, such as 4 color deck, enable/disable animation or sounds, and you can change the background image to whatever you would like. There also is a preferred seating option, but for some reason is grayed out and I couldn't get it to work. The graphics are pretty nice, very crisp and flashy looking. Like I said before, nothing too special at the tables just your basic 2D overhead display but it works.
Hand histories are not instantly available at the tables. You have to request them via the lobby. I also could not find an option to have them automatically save to my computer, so if you want to have them you have to request them all. This is highly inconvenient.

PokerWorld.com Poker Room Action
Action? What action? Seriously, the one thing that is keeping Poker World from being a good poker room is the players! There just simply isn't any... During peak hours you are lucky to see 800 players connected, and even that number is pretty high. When you compare this to a room like PokerStars who has around 150,000+ during peak hours, you see just how small this is. With an average of only 400 or so players connected, you can't expect to find any games other than no limit hold'em. A few (and I mean few) times I saw an Omaha game running, but I wouldn't count on it. I explained how bad the MTT and SnG situation is earlier, and cash isn't much better. I'm not sure what is holding the Gold Chip network back. They accept US players, have some nice promotions, decent software, and good support; they just need to get their name out there. Until the traffic increases, it's hard to recommend PokerWorld to a serious player.

Poker World.com Customer and Technical Support
I did have some problems when I unregistered for a tournament entry I won through a Poker World satellite. The technical support seemed foreign to the concept of giving out their 'tourney bucks' in exchange for the tournament entry, but after complaining up the chain, they did make it right and give me a little something extra to compensate. Seems this poker room has the same problems as others, the lower level of support is not always in the communication loop. But as a whole, the company wants to give a fair, enjoyable site for poker. If you have a problem, they have live chat built into the software which is very helpful. If you prefer, you can also e-mail them. In my experience e-mails can be timely, but overall PokerWorld had a good support desk.

PokerWorld.com Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
Very, very easy. This site seems to cater best to weak players. With the lack of some options such as instant hand history, the ability to save HH files, and no have Poker Tracker/HUD support this keeps the good players away. Even though traffic is slim, the fish percentage is plentiful. Now if only the traffic would increase, this would be a huge fish fest!
