Nuts (Cool):

Large user base, very busy at all times of the day and night due to heavy European as well as US based players. Good client interface.

Beats (Suck):

Large table views cause big overlaps at anything under 1600x1200 resolution. ECash (financial side) of the client can be very slow, and you have to wait for a pin number to be snail-mailed before making withdrawals.

is part of the large Cryptologic poker network, sharing its user base with other sites such as Littlewoods, William Hill and Interpoker. Cryptologic is one of the few networks that is primarily marketed towards the European user base, but this said it also has a large US following as well. Sites such as PokerPlex are helping to increase this even further.

The site uses eCash direct for its financial transactions. This allows multiple deposit and withdrawal methods but it’s important to note that you have to wait for a pin number to arrive via snail mail before you can make any withdrawals. Supported finance types are Credit/Debit card, Neteller, Firepay, Citadel, eCheque, Cheque, Bank transfer/wire.

Games supported are Holdem, 7 Card Stud, Omaha High, and Omaha High/Low.

The interface is very nice to use. The lobby is neat and tidy and the table listings are very well laid out. Player/flop % and average pot size is displayed, and by selecting a table you can see the list of users – but not their stake size unless you view the table. One slight complaint is that the table stats are not updated very quickly. Often a table will say “8/10” players, so you click “join” only to find that it’s full, which gets annoying if you try and join a few tables in a row and the same thing happens. You can use the waiting list option and join a table with at least x amount of players, but when you do this you obviously lose the ability to find a table based on player/flop and pot size.

Accessing Ecash can sometimes be very slow. You cannot see your account balance from the lobby and therefore have to go to the cashier option if you wish to check this or your bonus status. You cannot access the cashier whilst you have cash games open (but you can whilst you have tournaments open), which is a little annoying.

The only other complaint is that the poker windows are fairly large, and without running at 1600x1200 or higher, you will have a fairly large overlap with even just two tables. A mini view would be an extremely useful and welcomed addition to the software.

Overall though, the client software is extremely good and apart from the few items listed above is one of the nicest to use of all the poker rooms.

The action at (cryptologic network) is very good. There are usually around 7,000 players on the network with a good split between cash games, SNG and multi table tournaments. Whatever your game or level, you can always be assured of plenty of action.

There is also a lot of action on the non Holdem tables, although the bulk of the traffic is, as you would expect, on the Holdem games. There is action all the way through the different limits both on the cash and tournaments games, and often you may find yourself in a queue waiting to join a cash table in the evening.

Support at Poker Plex is fast and efficient. There is no live support option, you have to telephone or email with any questions or problems. The live support button is there on the client, but when you select it you are greeted with a “we have temporarily disabled live support”. This seems to be consistent with all other Crypto sites, but as it is something that many other sites offer as standard – and the function is there – it should be implemented.

Telephone support seems to be handled by an off shore call center. When I spoke to them they were very hard to understand and seemed to be following a fairly basic script. I may have just been unlucky, but I felt the need to say “thank you, I will send an email” and get off the phone with them as quickly as I could.

Poker Plex email is definitely the best way to contact the site, they are manned 24 hours and reply within approximately 1 hour.

The lowest cash game on PokerPlex is $0.15/$0.25 or £0.15/£0.25. Therefore, this is where you will find the beginners – and hence there is plenty of money to be made. By not offering micro limits and forcing fish on to what would be considered “medium” level games on other sites, many good players can be found on these tables making a fairly healthy profit.

Both cash games and tournaments are equally as weak. The £1 SNGs are however hard to beat purely because of the bad level of play, and although I managed to turn over a profit at them, I saw many painful suckouts. The £3 and £5 (and equivalent $ SNGs) have a good balance of weak play and fish without too many suckouts.

Again the £2.00 MTT’s are extremely fish infested, and as they regularly attract 300+ players, you have to get fairly lucky to make it ITM. The blinds in the SNG and MTT games increment every 10 hands, so – especially in the SNGs – they go up very quickly in the latter stages.

has a few nice bonus offerings for its players. First off, they offer a 100% up to $500 for all new players! Simply signup through the links on this page, and enter the Poker Plex Bonus Code NPB500 when making your first deposit. You then have to earn 10x the mount of your bonus in MPPs. So if you deposit $500 for the full amount, you would have to collect 5,000 MPPs. You have one month to earn the points, or the bonus becomes invalid.

After you take advantage of the first time deposit bonus, Poker Plex still has more for you. They also made it easy for everyone, you can earn up to $200 every month without ever making a deposit! (They also removed bonus codes for these reload bonuses.) So what do you do? Just play! Every 400 MPPs you earn in the calendar month, you will net $50 into your poker account! Repeat this up to the max for $200 for 1600 MPPs. You can do this every single month, and that is up to $2400 extra per year without ever making another deposit!

Earning the MPPs is pretty easy, and here is how it is broken down: 1 MPP is earned per hand at cash tables when the rake reaches one unit ($/£/€), which is a 20 unit pot. One quarter (1/4) point is earned for every pot where the rake reaches .25 but is less than 20. You also earn 3 MPPs for every $1 (or other unit) in tournament fees. The bonus you choose is paid out in full, so make sure to earn the required MPPs for that month! This is one of the best websites for monthly bonuses, so make sure if you're grinding, you're at least making some nice bank!
