Poker Plex Overview
is part of the large and ever-growing iPoker network. Although this is definitely good news to many, it also means that U.S. citizens are not welcome to play.
Poker Plex offers Texas Hold’em, 7 Card Stud, 5 Card Stud, Omaha High, and Omaha High/Low. iPoker is the 3rd largest network in the world and is full of busy cash and tournament tables. There are a large number of low and mid stakes tables running all the time, with consistent action up to the $.50-$1 level.
Their Sit & Gos are also very busy, although not quite as much as the cash games. Most of the players play for low to mid stakes, and there are multiple tournaments running up to $50 + $9. The scheduled tournaments are also popular. They have scheduled events ranging from $.50 up to $500. Many players are drawn in by the excellent selection of guarantees. There are daily guarantees as high as $45k, and a weekly Sunday $250k event.
Poker Plex offers a wide variety of rewards for its poker players including the Poker Plex VIP Club. The VIP Club consists of six levels and a player's placement is determined by their point average (referred to as Poker Plex Points) during the previous three months. Poker Plex Points (PPPs) are earned by playing in ring games and tournaments. As with other VIP Clubs out there, the higher the rank, the faster the accumulation of points.
Poker Plex VIP Club Levels:
1 Star - All new players begin at 1 Star. They receive standard PPP accumulation, access to a monthly $500 Freeroll, and a 20% up to $100 reload bonus during promotional periods.
2 Star - In order to qualify at the 2 Star level, players must maintain a monthly PPP average of 1500. They earn PPPs faster than 1 Star, have access to the monthly $500 Freeroll, and receive a 30% up to $200 reload bonus during promotional periods.
3 Star - 3 Stars must maintain a 3000 PPP monthly average. They also get to participate in the monthly $500 Freeroll, accumulate PPPs even faster, and get a 40% up to $300 reload bonus during promotional periods.
4 Star - 4 Stars players maintain a monthly average of 7500 PPPs. At this level, PPPs accumulate at an even higher rate, members are entitled to a 50% up to $400 reload bonus during promotional periods, and they also participate in the monthly $500 Freeroll.
5 Star - To be called a 5 Star, players must step it up a notch and keep a monthly PPP average of 15,000 PPPs. They receive PPPs faster than any of the previous star levels, are able to compete in the monthly $500 Freeroll, and get 70% up to $500 reload bonuses during promotional periods.
7 Star - The 7 Star level is at the absolute top of the chart, where players average a whopping 40,000 PPPs per month! They play in the monthly $500 Freeroll, accumulate PPPs faster than anyone else, and get a 70% up to $1,000 reload bonus during promotional periods.
Poker Plex Software Interface/Usability
The interface is very nice to use. The lobby is neat and tidy, and the table listings are very well laid out. Player/flop percentage and average pot size is displayed, and by selecting a table you can see the list of users and their stack sizes. One slight complaint is that the table stats are not updated very quickly. Often a table will say “8/10” players, so you click “join” only to find that it’s full, which gets annoying if you try and join a few tables in a row and the same thing happens. You can use the waiting list option and join a table with at least x amount of players, but when you do this you obviously lose the ability to find a table based on player/flop and pot size.
Accessing Ecash can sometimes be very slow. You cannot see your account balance from the lobby and have to go to the cashier option if you wish to check it or your bonus status.
Poker Plex is great for multi-tabling. Here you can play up to 16 tables at once, and change the table size to large or mini. This is a great feature for people who play multiple tables and like to stack them up.
Overall, the client software is extremely good and, apart from the few items listed above, is one of the nicest to use of all the poker rooms.
Poker Plex Room Action
You will find plenty of action throughout . If you're a low to mid-stakes player you'll be spoiled for choice. Although, if you're a high stakes player you may struggle a little. Their various tournaments also get plenty of registrants, with fields between 100 and 800 during the day. They also have some nice deals going that you might want to check out.
Poker Plex Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
The lowest cash game on is $.01-$.02 and there are loads of tables running at this level. You get a lot of action in the ring games up to $.50 - $1. This is where you will find the beginners at this site and there is plenty of money to be made. Many good players can be found already sitting at the mid-stakes tables making a fairly healthy profit, so be careful.
Both cash games and tournaments are equally as weak. The $1 SNGs are hard to beat purely because of the bad level of play, and although you can turn over a profit, be prepared for many painful suckouts. The $3 and $5 have a good balance of weak play and fish, without too many suckouts.
Again the $2.00 MTT’s are extremely fish infested and, as they regularly attract 300+ players, you have to get fairly lucky to make it ITM. The blinds in the SNG and MTT games increment every 10 minutes.
