Pacific Poker.com Review
Pacific Poker is operated by Cassava Enterprises (Gibraltar) Ltd. which also owns and operates Casino-on-Net.
Casino-on-Net is one of the leading Casinos on the Internet. Since its official launch in 1997, over 10,000,000
people have experienced Casino-on-Net's exciting gaming action on the World Wide Web, making Casino-on-Net
the leading Online Casino.
offers a nice variety of games and stakes to its players. PacificPoker.com offer low stakes
options for both cash games and tournaments, with tons of No Limit Holdem Tournaments with buy-ins ranging between
$2.50 + .25 and $200 + $15.
PacificPoker.com accepts Credit Cards,
Deposit by Phone, Checking Account deposits powered by Citadel,
Neteller, Fire Pay, ACTeCASH, PrePaidATM,
Wire Transfer and other deposit methods.
PacificPoker.com offers the same games as Party Poker and Empire Poker - Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo,
7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo, Sit & Go tournaments, and Multi-Table tournaments. And PacificPoker.com has
recently added No Limit Texas Holdem cash games!
Pacific Poker does not have the amount of players as Party Poker and Empire Poker. However, Pacific Poker
still has plenty of action; I never seem to have trouble sitting down at the $5 + .50 No Limit Holdem Tournaments.
has about 4,000 players, so the action
is a bit better than many other online poker sites (ie - Full Tilt has about 1,500 players).

Pacific Poker.com Software Interface/Usability
Pacific Poker has a decent interface. Personally, I think it is a bit sluggish - the cards
seem to come out slower than at other poker rooms. For me, the speed is kind of annoying
but I'm sure there are folks out there who prefer to have the cards come out slowly
more like the brick and mortar games.
The PacificPoker interface is fairly simple and straightforward, and the layout is pretty standard
and intuitive, making the transition to playing at PacificPoker very easy.
In the PacificPoker client, the cash games have tabs on top in the following order:
Holdem
Omahi Hi
Omaha H/L
7 Stud
7 Stud H/L
1 On 1
The tournaments have tabs on top in the following order:
Sit & Go
Multi Tables
SPECIAL
The buttons in the lower right corner of the Pacific Poker interface are Chat, View Lobby and Leave Table.
People don't seem to use the Chat as frequently as in other poker rooms.
In the left corner the Sit Out Next Hand checkbox can be used
and the Auto Muck Losing Hands checkbox is checked by default.
The current and future blinds are in the upper left corner.
This is nice late in the tournaments when the blinds are sizable.
PacificPoker offers full 10 player tables. This is a welcome change from the 9 player
tables at Absolute Poker and Poker Stars, as well as the 9 player tables in the California brick
and mortar casinos.

PacificPoker.com Poker Room Action
At the original time of this writing
did not have no limit Texas holdem ring games. However, we've sinced updated our Pacific Poker
review to reflect that they've added this long-awaited poker game!
Editor's Note January 1, 2005: Pacific Poker.com now offers no limit ring
games for Texas Holdem! Many of us have been waiting for this to happen for a long time!
PacificPoker.com offers no limit Texas Hold'em tournaments, so that is where I spent my time.
Unfortunately, I could only play one tournament at a time since PacificPoker.com does not
allow multi-tabling.
I like playing the $5 + .50 No Limit Holdem Sit & Gos.
These 10 player tournaments are easy to find at Pacific Poker, and I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to take a seat.
There is also plenty of action at other levels
like $2.50 + .25 and $10 + $1.
It goes up to $200 + $15 on the Sit and Go tab. There is a respectable amount of players and tables,
and I didn't have much problems finding the games I prefer.

Pacific Poker Customer and Technical Support
The Support button is easy to see in the Pacific Poker interface.
It is nice to see support options available 24/7 so that
you can ask for help even if you're playing in the middle of the
night on a Sunday.
Players in the US and Canada can call 1-800-480-5186.
I've used the support number myself to ask about a withdrawal.
The person I spoke to was very professional and very helpful.

Pacific Poker's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
In most of the Sit & Go Tournaments that I've joined there seems that
about 1/3rd of the players are really bad, about 1/3rd are decent
and about 1/3rd are somewhat good.
The 1/3rd that are really bad tend to go out fast.
They unnecessarily risk all their chips early when the blinds
are small and not worth stealing.
Now that PacificPoker.com has NL ring games a lot of people are taking notice.
It reminds people of the old days with Party Poker
where tons of loose fish are ready for the taking. Here are some excerpts from various
threads in our poker forum:
FishMagician talks about the bad Pacific Poker players in the
NL Players Fish Alert thread:
Posted: 22 Jan 2005 02:58 pm Post subject: NL Players - Fish Alert
I just signed up for Pacific Poker since I heard they were now offering NL ring games,
and I have to say the NL players there are by far the worst I've seen on any site.
The 25NL players at Party would be sharks here. I don't know what else to say to
describe the general play there. It's just awful. Extremely loose/passive.
Most of the tables I'm playing show around 60% of players seeing each flop...
very little pf raising...all that good stuff.
Downside is that you can only play one table at a time, but I would highly recommend that if
you like to multi-table you have one of these open in addition to whichever other site you are playing.
This is based on about 5 days of playing .50/1 and 2 days of playing 1/2.

And long-time resident and pro, Fnord, also speaks highly of the PacificPoker NL tables in the
following

PacificPoker.com Bonuses and Promotions
offers one of the better bonuses you will see today. By signing up through FTR, you can take advantage of their 100% up to $400 initial deposit bonus! So if you have $400 to toss on the site, they will give you $400 to match it! What is even better about this, is $100 (25%) is instantly deposited into your account! That means you will have $500 to earn the additional $300. This is pretty rare when it comes to bonuses as many rooms require you to earn points to collect the entire bonus. It just makes it a little better and quicker to earn, which is a great thing!
As for earning the additional $300, you have to collect Comp Points. For every 14 Comps you collect, you will receive $1 in bonus funds. So this is a total of 4200 Comps for the full $300. Comps are earned by playing real money cash games, for every $10 wagered on a raked hand, you will get 1 Comp. This bonus expires 30 days after you deposit, so don't wait around too long!
Try it for yourself, join here.

“You can't go wrong.” by IslandAK, 04 Aug 2006 |
Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
While I'm waiting for Party's next
reload bonus, I decided to try earning a
bonus somewhere else. Well, so much for
that. The bonus is nearly impossible to
earn. I'll probably end up with $5 out
of a potential $100.
Don't play here for the bonus. Play
here because the players are the worst
I've seen. I play a mix of $10NL and
$25NL. The reason for the mix is I play
the best tables I can find. What do I
mean "best table?" I shoot for 60% to
the flop and average pot 40% - 50% of a
full buy-in. I find these tables even at
1:00 am Hawaii time.
I was going to just pass through, but I
will likely stay until I am fully rolled
for $50NL, then move back to Party.
Interface: The poker client gets slow
sometimes, and I can't see the action
buttons once in a while (until I move my
cursor to where the button should be,
then it appears). But on the whole it
seems pretty solid. I game is so soft
it's worth a slightly less sexy
client.
Action: I don't seem to have a problem
finding a table when I logon. However,
I'm not terribly picky about my table.
I look for loose, action tables, but
sometimes I have to settle for less in
one or the other. I still find table
with about 50% to the flop, and high
average pot sizes.
Technical support: I got a quick
response from one email I sent. The
staff was prfessional. There's even a
24 hour number to call. The second time
I wrote, I didn't get an answer, but I
didn't get my confirmation email
either. I probably filled out the
comment form with the wrong email
address.
Ease of game: Where to start. Party
players are better than Bodog players,
Bodog players are better than Pacific
players. That's my opinion. 15.75
bb/100 (only 5 days, don't read into
that too much). Still, I get my good
hands paid off a lot. Sure I have to be
a little tricky, but with the nuts
staring them in the face, some of these
guys still CALL! Yes, call. Sometimes I
get lucky and they bluff into me, but
they also CALL. Go figure.
Bonus: Sucks. For every $10 wagered "in
a raked hand" (not wagered in all
hands) you get 1 point. 100 points earns
you $1. So, for every $1000 wagered in
raked hands you get $1. In aproximately
12 days (2-3 hours per day) I have
earned 230 points or $2.30. I'm on par
for the $5 I guessed.

“things are changing” by Kobold, 22 Apr 2006 |
Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
Hi! Before start, take notice of the
post date (just one poster before me
posted this year:) ). First of all, you
should know I am from Europe, so I
can't have any nettelter or firepay
accounts. I have been playing for real $
for 1 month now, and the reason I chose
them to kill my money is because they
were the only company in about 10 I've
tried that would accept my credit card.
I also appreciate their bonus system as
other posters, but, good people, things
are changing for the better. I cahsed
out and I received my money to my credit
card in less than 48 hours. Support is
ok, though not that fast as Party's
support team. I saw many people
complaining about disconnects - it only
happened to me when I was listening to
music on my pc (which is 7 years old
:)), downloading a movie AND someone was
downloading some materials from me.
However, there is a tendency to lag
while playing at 4 tables in my case,
and if it disconnects, your seat is
still available for you for some time.
That's right, playing at 4 tables. At
first, I have noticed one couldn't play
at multiple tables, but after a few days
I actually did that. I thought there was
a small bug the first time I've tried,
but now I am certain they didn't have
the feature the first time I tried. The
only thing bothering me is being fewer
players comparing to, let's say,

“Software ruins the experience” by NONE, 15 Oct 2005 |
Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
The software is awful and the
disconnects are frequent. I've played
at three
other poker rooms and never seen one
quite so many problems. The
software is clunky to use, the buttons
are in awkward spots, there is no spot
that shows the total 'pot' including
the current bets (only the previous
round
of betting). The software frequently
disconnects you about twice an hour, and
there is not all in protection, your
hands are immediately folded when you
disconnect. I found myself tilting
simply due to the disconnects. It
disconnected me and folded my nut hands
on a few occasions costing me a
few big pots. The software also limits
you to playing/viewing only one table
at a time, this kills your hourly rate
and makes table selection more
difficult.
It's been posted that the players are
very fishy here. Its true, however i've
noticed that the fish typically sit down
with the minimum buy in, and if they
happen to double up, they leave the
table and go to a new one, where they
can buy back in for the minimum.
The only redeeming value here is the 25%
sign up bonus that you get upfront
as soon as you deposit.
My suggestion is to try some of the
bigger poke sites where you'll find
just as
many fish, but have a better overall
experience. |
“Trash Site” by Bizzle, 11 Aug 2005 |
Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
Pacific Poker is, in my opinion, the
worst online pokerroom. The interface is
just aweful. It looks like a seedy dive
casino, complete with vomit-coloured
seats and ghetto playing cards. Don't
kid yourself: appearances make a
difference when you're playing
countless hours at the same site. The
actual software is horrendous. The
pop-up info bar (listing the winning
hand and amount won) overlaps the Post
Blinds bar for a few seconds, so you
only have a few seconds to manually post
your blinds. The clock is also terribly
inaccurate, as I've had my hands folded
with 2-3 seconds left on the ticker. The
game options are terrible: you have to
bet whole dollars, so you can't match
the pot properly once they've raked say
$0.40 from an $8 pot, leaving $7.60. I
find that annoying. Also, they have no
option to automatically list the size of
the bet or the pot unless you hover over
it, which is pathetic. The bonus is good
for a first-time deposit, but then it's
nothing special. You can't even
multitable on this site: I guess having
more than 1 table open would make your
screen look so ugly it would shatter.
Honestly, this is the trashiest poker
site on the net, and I'm puzzled why so
many people play there, other than the
fact that it was one of the first online
pokerrooms. No new player should look to
this cardroom. You'll thank me later. |
“Very Good” by Jigsaw, 03 May 2005 |
Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
If you are looking for a place to make
money, don't look any further!
In the lower limits, 70% of the players
seeing the flop is not uncommon, and
that without much pre-flop raising. Even
on higher limits, you have percentages
of up to 60% seeing the flop, which is
unbelievable.
It is very nice that the bonus is
available immediatley available, so you
can play with it from the beginning. Of
course, to withdraw it, you have to
wager 20 times the bonus-amount, but to
be able to play with the bonus
immediately is great. |
“Buggy as hell” by bffcfm, 12 Apr 2005 |
Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
Signed up for Pacific 1 or 2 days ago.
Jumped in on the play money to test out
the interface, and it was terrible.
Felt like everything was moving in slow
motion. I wasn't planning on playing
there, but this morning I got an email
from Pacific Poker telling me there was
$10 waiting for me in my account. I
logged in, and sure enough, I had $10 in
my account.
Since I now had some free money, I
figured I'd play some NL$10. The game
was laggy as all hell. I play on a high
speed cable connectin (5mb/s down, 512k
up) and there were multiple occasions
where I was forced to fold my hand
because I ran out of time. This would
be fine, except the timer wasn't
moving, and then all of a sudden it
showed zero and my hand was folded
without warning. I had nothing else
running on my computer except the one
table I was playing on.
The first time my hand was folded, I
had QQ and flopped trips. As I'm
adjusting the betting slider (maybe took
7 seconds at the most) my hand was
automatically folded without warning.
There was no bet to me, and instead of
making me check, it made me fold. Then
the 2nd time I flopped a full house, and
the EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. My hand
was folded because I ran out of time
(even though I didn't) and it folded me
instead of letting me check.
I would have been super upset if I had
actually deposited money and this
happened to me.
Besides the interface sucking, and the
game timer being buggy, Pacific is
great. |
“sure, the players suck...” by JJDylan, 02 Mar 2005 |
Interface: Action: Support: Fish: Bonus: |
---Ive been playing on Pacific Poker for
about 2 days now, and already ive
encountered more problems than on any
other site ive played. The
Interface/Software is horrible...ive
been disconnected in the middle of hands
about 5 times in 2 days, i NEVER had
this problem with other sites. The
Interface is outdated and makes gameplay
hard to follow.
--- However the action in the rooms is
great, i couldnt believe how bad the
players were. Pacific is definitley easy
money
---- Havent dealt with Customer support
yet, so i cant comment right now.
--- Like i (and many others in these
reviews) said before, this place is a
fishbowl, easy money to be found in any
game.
--- The bonus is the reason i started
playing on Pacific, 25% up to 100 for
the initial bonus, but you have to wager
20x the bonus in gameplay before you can
cash it out...it seems like this could
take a while, but i wouldnt know, cause
theres nowhere on the site to find out
how far along you are in clearing that
mark.
