Pacific Poker Sit & Go Tournament Hand History
Playing Sit & Gos with bonus money can be a lot of fun, especially when they start out the way this one did.
Normally with AT suited I'm hoping to get the nut flush and I have mixed feelings when
an Ace comes on board. The Ace could be good or I could have a second place hand
if I'm outkicked by AK, AQ or AJ. The hand below was interesting because my being suited
didn't matter at all.
This is the very first hand of a $5 + .50 No Limit Holdem Tournament on Pacific Poker.
The blinds are $10 - $20 at this point and everyone starts with $800 in chips.
AT suited is a good hand, I limp in as do many other players.
I flop 2 pairs, there are 2 spades out there so I need to protect the pot from people drawing out the flush.
I bet half pot ($70) to make people pay for the flush
2 players decide to call the half pot bet.
The turn gives me a full house, what a card.
Any time the board pairs someone could have 4 of a kind but I have one of the tens so this is not possible.
Since we know there is not 4 of a kind I am one off the nuts with the second best possible full house.
If someone is holding rockets they have a better full house but this is not likely.
Number one, the odds of getting AA are only 1/221. Number two, one A is on board so it would only be possible for one person to have AA. Since everyone limped in pre-flop it would also mean that the person slow-played the aces.
I decide to play it as if I have the nuts. I decide not to try and get them all in on the river.
Instead I bet $300 on the turn hoping at least one player will stick around.
Both players call, I'm feeling really good now!
I bet my remaining $410 on the river, hoping they'll feel pot committed and call.
Both players call. Perfect!
Nothing like tripling up on the first hand of the tournament!
I held the chip lead most of the tourney. Unfortunately my cards weren't good head up
and I ended up taking 2nd place.
