Fortune Poker.com Overview
is a relatively new poker site. It is part of the large Boss Network, which means there is a good solid user base already in existence.
Three different currencies are available for Fortune's cash games: United States dollars, Euros, and Great Britain pounds. The main currency in use is the Euro. Different tables have different flags against them as well, so when looking at Euro tables you can choose a German flag to play with Germans or any other countrymen that happen to be there.
Fortune Poker offers Hold’em, Omaha, 7 card Stud, and 5 card Draw variants of poker. The usual No-limit, Pot-limit and fixed Limit game types are on offer, with a good range of Sit & Go and Multi-Table scheduled tournaments. By far, the low stake games are the popular ones at Fortune Poker. For the cash games, once you get past the 2/4 stakes (no matter which currency) it is rare to find a table in action. The higher buy-ins for Sit & Goes reveals the same story. The multi-table tournaments are the only ones that seem to have players taking their chances at the higher stakes.
Fortune Poker has recently introduced a VIP Player Program that awards Frequent Player Points for hands played. These FPPs can be used to buy into special FPP tournaments and to make purchases from the Fortune Poker Gift Shop. Players will receive 1 FPP for every $.25 in rake paid. FPP tournaments will run 5 days a week (Sunday through Thursday) and for as little as 50 FPPs you can earn some of your money back. The Sunday FPP freeroll "costs" 200 FPPs, but the prize pool is an Apple iPod!
One note for players who earn rakeback at Fortune Poker: Rakeback players are not eligible for the FPP program. You will still earn FPPs but if you choose to spend them, either on items from the Gift Shop or on tournaments, your rakeback will be deducted at $.25 per FPP.
This program is still very new, and Fortune Poker promises to add more in the near future. In fact, they are looking for ideas on what players would like to see as part of the VIP program. Just go to the Fortune Poker page and find the VIP area to submit your suggestions.
Financial options are processed through WebDollar. Depositing options are fairly limited, allowing Credit Card, Neteller, Click2Buy, MoneyBookers, ClickandBuy, Bank Transfer, PaySafeCard or Bank Draft / Check. Withdrawal options are further restricted. While Neteller, Click2Buy, MoneyBookers, ClickandBuy, Bank Transfer or Bank Draft function fully, Credit Card withdrawals exclude MasterCard and are limited on Visa. Withdrawals take anywhere between one and four business days to process.
Fortune Poker.com Software Interface/Usability
The software is pretty basic but nicely laid out. Games are easy and quick to find. Under the Quick Play tab, quick filters can be set to find the exact games that you want. In the main lobby, the choice is also given whether or not to hide certain tables. By eliminating those you know you do not want, there is less of a mess to sort through when you want to look at your options.
Different settings are also available. Tables can be viewed either in full screen or windowed mode. Full screen is nice, but not for multi-tabling. To conveniently play more than one table, Fortune Poker has provided the option to start the tables in mini-view. Just check the option box at the bottom of the tables screen before entering the table. However, once you are at a table there is no way to switch from one view to the other. Decks can be chosen to be viewed in either two or four colors for easier distinction. Five languages are available on Fortune Poker, but the only language available when downloading and installing is English. Afterwards, you may change the language to English, German, Spanish, Italian, or French. This is nice for international users.
The best part of the table graphics is the circular colored countdown timer around each person’s username. This is very nicely done and is much better than the counters on almost all of the other poker sites. The username is as personable as Fortune Poker lets you get, though. No avatars are available, so players must choose a good name to express themselves.
The only thing that may be a bit confusing about Fortune Poker's software is where the hand history is located. At the lobby, it is located under the Support tab. At the table, it is located in the menu under Live Help.
FortunePoker.com Poker Room Action
is part of the Boss Poker Network and shares a fairly large user base with the other skins. There are many larger sites out there but there are also many much smaller sites around too. This is certainly a middle of the pack site.
Like the majority of sites, most of the action is concentrated at the Texas Hold'em tables. That isn't to say that there is no action for the Omaha, Stud or Draw games. There is a decent amount but nothing out of the ordinary.
Action at the low limit tables is rife. Even at non-peak times you can be sure of finding several full tables with good stats. Once you are seated at a table, it’s very rare for the table to break or continuously have empty seats. Most tables constantly have a queue of at least one or two people waiting to take any empty seat that may appear.
However, action at the mid and higher level games is almost non-existent. The same goes for the tournaments – at the very low level limits there is plenty of action to keep you busy. The upper level games see scant action and the tournaments seem to be the only place where the players are willing to play at the higher stakes.
Fortune Poker's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
The ease of making money on and the rest of the Boss network is very good at the low limits. There are a lot of fish and poor players, so if you sit tight and wait for premium hands you get paid more often than not. Expect a high level of suckouts if you overplay TPTK though. There will usually just be too many people in the pot for you to win with a single pair and you really want to be looking for two pairs, a set, or higher before putting too much money in. People will chase inside straights and flushes with absolutely awful odds.
What lets the site down is the lack of players at the mid and higher level limits. If you are happy grinding away with multiple €25nl tables open, this site would suit you. However, if you prefer to play one or two tables at higher limits you will either only find good players or, more often than not, simply no players at all.
FortunePoker.com Bonuses and Promotions
has recently started adding some great bonuses and promotions for its members. In addition to the 30% rakeback which you will receive by signing up through FTR (explained above), you can take advantage of their 200% initial deposit bonus up to €1000!
This is one of the largest bonuses offered anywhere today and is the max allowed on the Boss Network. Please note that you must deposit at least €20 to activate the bonus. Think of the money you will be earning with the deposit bonus + the rakeback! All you have to do is play real money games.
For every €70 paid in rake, you will release €10 until your full bonus amount is collected. For the entire €1000 you have to pay €7000 in rake and don't expect to do this overnight. This is quite the grind, especially for smaller staked players, so it’s highly recommended that you are rolled for 100nl or higher. The bonus expires 60 days after your deposit, so start grinding quickly!
In addition to the initial deposit bonuses, Fortune Poker also offers reload bonuses to its members. It rewards 100% up to €500. This is earned the same way as the 200% up to €1000, so you could potentially earn €1500 in bonus money; plus all the rakeback while grinding. They also offer several tournaments, freerolls, and rake races.

Fortune Poker Rakeback Review
The rakeback program on Fortune Poker is fairly standard and offers exactly what you would expect – 30% of your rake automatically transferred back into your poker account at the start of each month for the previous month’s rake. This 30% is the largest amount offered on the Boss Media Network. Considering that there are other Boss Network poker sites that offer no rakeback at all, Fortune is definitely a poker room to consider if you like their network/interface.
Fortune Poker Rakeback Calculations
Tournament Rake Calculations:
No rake is received for tournament registration or entry fees.
Ring Game Rake Calculations:
Rakeback is earned whenever a player is dealt cards in a raked pot, regardless of whether or not the player actually plays their hand. If rake is generated in a hand, then this is split equally among all players that dealt cards (even if they simply fold preflop). Each player then receives 30% of their part of the rake.
For example, if the rake paid in a pot is $1 and ten people are dealt cards, this rake is divided by the ten players, which equals $0.10 each. You then receive 30% of this amount, which is $0.03.
Fortune Poker.com Customer and Technical Support
The customer support on is second to none. It is absolutely superb. You have the option of live (in-client) support, web support, email support, telephone support, and they would probably even accept a carrier pigeon if you happen to have access to one.
Email support is handled through a proper ticketing system. This way you can check the status of the ticket. We never had to wait more than 24 hours for an email response. The Fortune Poker live support is also excellent. You are told the average “answering time” so you know how long you are going to have to wait (which is usually around 60 seconds) and once in the chat you are given prompt, helpful advice. A little icon at the top of the screen tells you what the service agent is doing (i.e. “reading your message” or “waiting for your next message”) so there is no awkward silence whilst you’re unsure if they are waiting for you or vice versa. This is extremely well done and has obviously been created by somebody who has experience of using live chat systems themselves. Other sites could learn a trick or two from these guys.
