Nuts (Cool):

Very small stake ring and tournaments. This is only 'nuts' if you are a new / low limit player ' it's a good learning site. The $1 multi table tournaments are rake free.

Beats (Suck):

The card graphics are blurry, like the contrast has been turned up too high. Not comfortable on the eyes during a long session. Constant 'please wait' display messages appear as you navigate around the site and the login process seems fairly slow. Extremely low user base with very little action at anything much above $0.10 tables.

is one of the lesser known poker rooms. It is small and independent, not a part of any of the larger poker networks, but (according to the marketing) growing in users rapidly. Everest Poker claims it is aimed at Europe, Asia and US markets – but being internet based this is largely irrelevant.

The client interface suggests that it supports Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, and 7 Card Hi/Lo. However, apart from Holdem, all of the other tabs are greyed out. This is the case for both real money & play money, and cash and tournament games. So it looks like they haven’t quite gotten around to implementing those other games yet, suggesting the site is still almost in a construction stage. As you navigate around the site, there are other places that are greyed out or say “coming soon” (such as the potential player points area), which again shows the infancy of the site. It does, however, appear extremely well put together and could definitely become a very popular poker room if it gets more users.

All of the usual banking facilities are available, and you can deposit as little as $5 with no fee – just about the lowest minimum deposit we have come across on any site. For beginners, you can’t get much better than this in terms of being able to dip your toe in the water cheaply. Deposit methods are the regular ones, Neteller, FirePay, Credit/Debit Cards, Eco, Moneybookers, IPS, Paysafe. The financial transactions are managed by IBS (Internet Billing Services), a very well established and trusted organisation. Currency is restricted to $USD only.

Everest Poker Texas Hold'em Table

The lobby is excellent and contains all of the information you need in a very easy to use format. Your account balance is there on screen, as is a list of all the tables in a scrollable and sortable list – no messing around with selecting your limit or table sizes, just scroll to the one you want. There is a “seat finder” option as well which lets you select your limit, stake and table size, and it will find you an empty seat – a nice feature, and neater than having to find a full table and joining a waiting list. When highlighting a table in the list you are instantly shown all the people on it, including their stack size, a feature which should really be standard by now on all poker room lobbies.

There are however a few bad points. The login seemed very slow compared to other sites – and when you navigate round the site, you often get windows popping up with annoying “please wait” timers. You soon get used to these though, but they can get frustrating especially when you hit the wrong button.

The table view is not so nice. At first glance it looks nice and neat – but then you look at the cards. They are blurry, small, and look as though somebody has turned the brightness and contrast up too high. Playing for 2 hours was uncomfortable on the eyes. The layout of the table and the graphics are not bad, and the ability to spin the table is quite clever. The chat is nice and clear, and all the usual functions such as 4 colour deck and auto muck are available.

There is no poker tracker support, and with the client in its current format this is unlikely to ever appear. Hand history is limited to you reading back what is in the chat window, and the card suits are represented by graphics rather than text. They are not stored on your hard-drive and not available by email or any other way. Because the user base is so small at present, don’t hold your breath for external application support any time soon.

The table has a “your statistics” option which shows you fairly comprehensive stats on the percentage of times that you have played, checked, check-raised, called, bet, raised, re-raised, folded and won at the point of deal, flop, turn and river.

Another fairly novel feature is the “Poker Tutorial” area, which trains you how to play poker from scratch. This site is clearly aimed at the beginner, evident by the heavy promotion of this tutorial function.

At the higher limits on there is hardly any action at all. Look on the $0.25 tables, actually let’s make that singular – table – there were 7 out of 10 players. I will repeat that – ONE TABLE with 7 players. At $0.50, there were 3 tables – one with 10 people on it and two empty ones. The story is similar all the way up to the top, with as many people playing at $5/$10 blinds (ie, one or two tables).

Tournaments are very quiet. You will find action only really at the lowest stakes, which for limit tournaments is $0 (yes, free) with a guaranteed prize pool of $0.10. Move over to no limit and the single table SNGs start at $0.04+$0.01. By the time you get up to even $1.00 tournaments, you have to wait quite some time for a full table. Once you get higher than $1.00, the players die off almost completely. In the MTT area, the only tournaments that get busy are again the freerolls. 367 players registered for a no limit tournament where the prize was a “bronze token”. They also have freerolls where you can win “bonus money” (that you have to clear), and the occasional $30 prize fund freeroll. MTTs that require you to pay an entry fee were extremely quiet. A $2 MTT had attracted 4 entrants by the time it was scheduled to start, and a $10 had only 1 entrant signed up.

So in summary – if you are looking for action at anything other than extreme low level micro limits, this site is not for you.

This area definitely needs major improvement. A simple email query took 24 hours for a reply, and the reply was generic and did not answer my question. There is no telephone number listed in the “help” section of Everest Poker, nor any live chat feature. Therefore if you have an urgent issue, there isn’t much you can do other than send an email using the “web form” and wait for a reply the next day. This is very poor.

The level of play is very loose. Down at the $0.02 no limit tables, you can see flop% of 70-80 regularly, with average pot sizes over $1. Move up to $0.10, and the flop% is still a very fishy average of 50% with pot sizes around the $3-$4 average area.

Because the site is clearly aimed at beginners, you find a lot of them there as you would expect. Obviously this means bad beats and suckouts, and you can forget trying to get somebody off a pot by giving them bad odds, but if you open up 5 tables and play a good solid game there are plenty of people ready to hand you their stack as long as they have bottom pair and a low – hang on what’s a kicker again?

The tournaments are the same story – with entry fees starting as low as $0.04 + $0.01 for single table SNGs, the fish rating is almost obscene and you will see all-in moves and calls with any two cards higher than a Joker. The freeroll MTT’s with small prize funds are the same and there is very little skill involved.

The signup bonus is simple – you get $200 free for opening an account even if you don’t deposit any money. The cool thing about this bonus is you will earn $200 whether you deposit $20 or $200. However, you do have to deposit funds and play with that in order to clear the bonus which trickles in to your cash account in $1 increments. This $200 flat bonus is exclusive to FTR so make sure you sign up with the links on this page and use the Everest Poker Bonus Code FTR200 when signing up! If you do not correctly signup with the links on this page the bonus will not be applied and the code will not work. You must enter the bonus code within 7 days of registration. Make sure you enter the correct bonus code, FTR200, for the improved $200 bonus!

To clear the bonuses, you have to collect Summit Points at the rate of $1 per 14.28 Summit Points earned. So to clear your FTR $200 free bonus, you need to earn a total of 2856 Summit Points. If you play at higher limits this isn’t too bad, but down at the $0.01 games you would probably have to play for about 17 years before clearing the bonus. You have 30 days to clear this bonus before it becomes invalid. Tournament entry fees do count towards wagering, but only the ones where a house fee is charged.

They also have a friend-referral bonus where you receive $50 for each friend that signs up based on a referral from you (up to a maximum of 100 per 180 days). The terms and conditions are fairly lengthy but there is no mention of the friend having to deposit money or play a certain number of hands before the bonus is released to you, all you have to do is clear the bonus in the same way as the initial deposit bonus.

With all the possible bonuses available to Everest poker players, and the ability to "stack" these bonuses, you can set up your own Everest Poker Rakeback program yourself! Click here to read more details on how to get your Everest Poker rakeback.

“Everest Poker On the Rise” by coldhearted, 15 Apr 2008

Everest has come a long way from a few years ago. Many of the older reviews are outdated for Everest Poker. Everest has been surging outside of the US, and its network has substantially grown since 2006. Everest is now the main advertiser on the felts of the 2008 World Series of Poker poker tables!!! It may be time to check out Everest - it's always been a soft network for experienced players, but now with the WSOP advertising, it's sure to grow and collect more noob's. Have fun and good luck!

STAY AWAY! I made a deposit, no problem. But on my third cashout I get demand for ID verification. I had no problem with this when it came to sending copy of driving licence and utillity bill, but they wanted copy of my credit card when in fact I used moneybookers to deposit. When I told them this, they then ask for screen shot of moneybookers account, which I sent them, but I edited out my balance and transaction history, as they had said that they only wanted to see my name and email address linked to this account and my balance etc was none of their business. they refused to let me access withdrawals untill I sent them unaltered screen shot, which I reluctantly did. So what do they do? they block my access to my account completly, and do not reply to any emails I send them. From the looks of the previous post, it looks like Everest Poker have started a nice little scam for themselves. Well they stole over $400 of my money. BE WARNED!

I must say I am very disapointed with Everest poker. They have no player support. There is no telephone number and they dont reply emails. They blocked my account 2 days ago, I wrote couple of emails, but still no answer. It looks like they just want to take my money.

Everest-Poker is the best site for european players. I've played there for one year now. At the very beginning there were only very few players and it was hard to find a table, especially above the micro-limits of fixed limit. But Everest reacted and reward limit-players with freerolls and other promotions. Even the higher SnG and MTT are running now 24/7 with lots of entrants. Of course the traffic is not that high as it is at Pokerstars or other major sites, but you will always find a table or more. The main reason for playing at Everest are crowds of fishes. Even at higher limits you will find players that hardly can spell P-O-K-E-R. 60% seen flop and huge average pots. They also improved the software. So you no longer need to re-login after you've been disconnected. The graphics and sounds are also very good. The only thing I miss are resizeable tables. The support is not that good. It took 3 days until my last request was answered. But at least I can communitcate in my language - German. I hope that Everest will keep up the good work. It has lots of potential to get a really big one.

my .02, as it seems this article hasn´t been updated for a while. the software is still functional, they had an update for the cards and it´s now possible to play more than 2 hours without getting eye-cancer. the avatars are a bit annoying and on 4 positions at the table you can hardly see the button behind them. turn them off. the number of players online isn´t displayed, but i´ll estimate it close to titan poker. the days of only one running $25NL table are over, now you´ll find up to 50 (6max and full ring) the fact, that the tables are rotating and you´re sittin on the same seat at every table makes multitabling much more easier, it takes a short look and you dont have to look for your seat when an active table pops up. the competition at the low-stakes is (even for that limit) really soft. in peak hours there´s lots of raising and all-in action going on, you´ll see hands shown down i wouldn´t even have pushed in my first party-play-money games a year ago. lean back, take their money. sng and mtt players have to adjust their early stages play, as the initial M here is 66 (i remember party was 33) and you have to get used to start with 100 chips. one BIG NUT: since i´m playing there (6 months now) one bonus i chasing the next one. i received $100 sign up, followed by 25, 75 and right now i´m clearing another $100. i don´t ask why, it´s free cash. the technical support is great, you´ll get fast and detailed replies. two beats left: u cannot resize the tables, which is really annoying with more than one table runnig and my last vashout into neteller took 48 hours.

“Hand Histories on Everest” by Anosmic, 16 Feb 2006

Mainly just want to offer a clarification of the hand history issue on Everest. The Hand History option is not great here, but still better than e.g. Pacific. While one cannot get anything other than the 'chat' format with the graphical suit illustration, it IS possible to access seperately from the tables chat function. One can go to the "My Account" section and see tables from the last year and hands from the last three months. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

I do not play cash tables... STT, H2H, or MTT. That having been said, here is my take on Everest Poker. Overlook the clunky lobby interface, its functional. They have a "filter." Name the stakes, game, and number of people. It lists those tables. At the table lose the avatars, otherwise it's too crowded. The table rotates so you are at bottom center, no more, "Where the hell am I?" when your MTT table breaks. The software functions well. The slider is not on steroids or in warp drive. You can type in a bet. Bets and chip stacks are plainly shown. When "folding" they animate the pocket cards as being mucked on the table. No problems cashing out, less than 24 hours into my Neteller. Never dealt with tech support so I dunno. As far as finding games well, I play STT's, H2H, and MTT's I never have a problem finding something going on. Bonuses, nothing to shout about, but the best feature, the one that keeps me going back: you NEVER make an actual cash deposit to make a cashout. You don't have to play a Freeroll with 500 fish only to bust out after 2 hours and miss the money. They offer a free buy in 10 top limit game. Pays 5 cent, 3 cent, 2 cent for 1-3. Take your nickel, go to the 5 cent NL ten top. Win that, go to the dime table or even the twenty cent table. Win that... go to the fifty cent table. Win that and go to the two dollar table. Get the idea? I started on the free table, played 6 hours and cashout $25.00 Not a lot of money... but I never made a deposit. I had a great time and some very challenging games. You could take your winning and go to the cash tables but if yer thing is STT's then Everest is a blast. They also offer daily MTT for $1 and there are always 200-300 or more in that. Start at the free table and earn you entry fee. The only drawback is that you have to get used to starting with 100 chips. The blinds start at .50/1. Just move the decimal and think that its 1000 with blinds starting at 5/10 if you like, but trust me, once you get used to it, it makes playing NL a whole new game. Once you are past the free table, the blinds go up 10 minutes, very generous compared to some places. The only place with blinds longer is Poker Stars with their 15 minute blinds (that I know of). The other biggie is their "Satellite Tokens." Most place, you win a satellite, you are tied into a certain tourney, at a certain time... win that, you are again forced to play when they decide in the semifinal and so on. You play for "Satellite Tokens." These are used to play in a tourney of your choosing at a day and time convenient for you. They do not expire. You even may accumulate them and then use a group of them to buy into a big buy in Sattelite. Imagine starting completely free table and work your way to a $100 Satelite to the WSOP. Imagine winning that. You think you can play poker? Start with ZERO and win your way to the WSOP. Everest Poker is a hidden gem. You simply must try it.
