Nuts (Cool):

It is easy to qualify and clear Empire's initial deposit bonus. They occasionally offer redeposit bonuses to members. Has a familiar Party Poker interface and software. Recently added a VIP program which has some decent benefits.

Beats (Suck):

Does not offer a useful friend/fish finder. Sadly does not accept US players. Support desk can be pretty slow at replying. EmpirePoker doesn't offer very many promotions.

The online poker room, , is a part of perhaps the most well known poker room, Party Poker. Party Poker owns the network and has Empire Poker as a skin to share traffic. Unfortunately, both rooms do not accept US players and this really slowed the growth of these one time massive rooms. You can't play here in the United States, but this is still a great room to check out if you're located elsewhere!

Take advantage of both great poker rooms and sign up to both! Read our sign-up guidelines for EmpirePoker to learn how!

Like PartyPoker, Empire Poker is licensed and regulated by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, is easy, safe and secure, offers prompt payouts and lots of games (Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo) at many different limits. These start off as low as $.02 - $.04 and go all the way up to $25 - $50. Even though they lost their US player base, there are still plenty of players and action across all levels. Of course most are playing NLHE, mainly in the low-mid stake range, but you will always see quite a few tables all the way up to 5000 nl. The other games offered such as Omaha always have a decent amount of traffic as well. I noticed about 30 active tables ranging from $.10 - $.20 up to $10 - $20 of PLO during the morning (Eastern Time) which is great for Omaha. Also about 10 tables of Stud, and as Stud is pretty much a dying game these days that is a decent amount.

Empire Poker's tournament and sit and go's are grown a lot since in the last few years. Party/Empire were the tournament dominators back pre-UIGEA, but that has since gone over to PokerStars and Full Tilt. However, you can still find a wide variety of tournaments every month. Their biggest tournament is their Sunday $300,000 guaranteed which has a $215 buy-in. This is one of the better Sunday tournaments out there as it always seems to have an overlay and there are constantly satellites running starting as low as $3; this adds a lot of fish to the player base! As for other tournaments, the offer various MTTs ranging from $1 ($1000 guaranteed rebuy), $5 ($500 guaranteed), $11 ($2,000 guaranteed), $22 ($5,000 guaranteed), $33 ($10,000 guaranteed rebuy), and so on up to their largest buy-in $530 ($50,000 guaranteed) throughout the week. The player base isn't as large as it use to be, with an average of 50-500 players usually for Empire's MTTs. There is a wide variety of sit and go's offered at Empire. Starting as low as $1, up to $5000, finding one for your bankroll won't be hard. There are hundreds running during all 24 hours, most under the $100 level. Empire offers 10 player regular and turbo, 6 max regular and turbo, heads up, satellites, and STEPs for their sng selection.

's software is very easy to use and offers some nice features. EmpirePoker.com's interface is identical to PartyPoker's, except the color scheme is different (blue!). In the Lobby, it's very easy to find the game and stakes you are looking for. EmpirePoker has a "Hide Full Tables" option so you can choose to see just the tables that have available spots, or all tables. You can also sort the list by the size of the average pot, which is very important in your table selection strategy.

The Empire Poker table game interface is solid. Although not the prettiest to look at, the software is very stable and has some nice features, such as right clicking on your opponent and taking notes, and right clicking on yourself and seeing your session's statistics. When you take notes on an opponent, a little yellow sticky note appears on the corner of your opponent. If you sit down at a table, and some of your opponents have that yellow sticky note, then you know you've played with them before and have notes on them. Unfortunately, you must go through the extra step right-clicking on the opponent to read your notes. The statistics is also a nice feature, but the statistics only report for your current session, and you do not have control of keeping those statistics averaged over several sessions. Another nice feature while playing at the tables is the ability to resize. You can make them smaller if need be on a older monitor that doesn't have very large resolution.

Betting is very easy on the no limit tables, there is a slider that you can use or a text box to type in your bet. The bet amounts and pot amounts show the actual dollar amounts under the chips so it is very easy to see the dollar amounts and calculate your odds.

There are three action buttons during play - fold, check/call, and bet/raise buttons. The buttons change depending on the action, but I do not like how the check and call buttons share the same placement. On one occasion, I had meant to check my hand, not noticing that the player right before me placed a huge bet. So, instead of checking, I actually called his bet. Dumb move on my part, but it can happen so be careful (although this might have happened to me at PartyPoker and not EmpirePoker...can't recall!)

Empire Poker does lack a good buddy finder (or fish finder). It would be nice to maintain a list of players to keep an eye on, and have EmpirePoker tell you what tables they are playing on. EmpirePoker's Buddy List will inform you if a certain player is logged in, but not where they are at. Considering the multitude of tables at Party, it's very difficult to target your fish.

Empire Poker, like many other poker rooms, offers your hand histories which you can save to your computer. In the past you had to request these via e-mail which was a big hassle. You can now automatically save them and import with Poker Tracker for easy progress.

Overall, I'm pleased with the software interface and usability. I'm very comfortable with the software and have been using it for a quite some time now.

Back in the day, was referred to as the largest poker room in the world with its partner, PartyPoker. Since the ban of US players, this has changed drastically. They were on the verge of 50,000+ constant players connected, but this has dropped to around 8,000. During peak hours, 12,000+ are pretty common but a majority of its older base was the US market. However, Empire Poker is still one of the largest non-US sites in the world today. Just because they aren't in the 100,000 range doesn't mean you shouldn't try them out. Peak hours really vary here since their traffic is all over the world, and there is a pretty consistent amount all throughout the day. There are always hundreds of active cash tables running, tons of sngs, and a decent amount of tournaments. Even though Empire isn't as big as they once were, they're still a very large and well known online poker room. Traffic is not a problem.

I haven't had any major issues with EmpirePoker.com, so I haven't had to use their support very often. The cashouts have been easy and prompt. Empire Poker.com's support staff is always vigilantly battling online collusion efforts, tracking any player trends and IP addresses that are suspicious. After I signed up to EmpirePoker.com, I actually received a phone call at my house because I was already a member of PartyPoker, so they just confirmed my information. This effort makes me feel very comfortable playing at EmpirePoker. I know that one person cannot be playing two spots on my table, because EmpirePoker has the technology to ban that. The best kind of support is when you don't need any.

As for e-mail support, they seem hit or miss in my experience. It's odd that sometimes I receive a reply within an hour with questions, and other times it can take days. They also have a live chat feature but you need to be a VIP member to use it.

E-mail: info@empirepoker.com

I believe Empire Poker (and Party Poker) has the most fish than any other online poker room. And not just because it has the most players, but I think the percentage of fish to the rest of the population is very high. Party Poker and Empire Poker are recruiting new players at an incredible rate. And most of them suck!

Of course with such amateurish play, you can plan on taking some bad beats and swings, but overall it's been a very consistent money maker for me. In fact, this is what Empire/Party are most well known for - being the fishiest poker site online. This still seems to be the case in 2008 even without US players!

has a 20% initial deposit bonus up to $100! If you'd like to take advantage of this, just join through any of our Empire Poker links, and use the Empire Poker Bonus Code: FTR120.

Earning this bonus is a piece of cake. The amount may be small, but it is one of the best and most popular bonuses in terms of earning it. To clear it, you need to play 5x the bonus amount in raked hands. So if you were to get the full $100, you would have to play 500 raked hands. This is one of the easiest earned bonuses out there! Depending on how many tables you play it can be cleared in just a few hours. This bonus expires 30 days after it is issued so be sure to clear it before then!

“could be better” by tabascoman50, 09 Apr 2007

Interface:  1/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  1/5   Fish:  3/5   Bonus:  3/5

Hangs up all the time. Can't leave room and come back without it locking up. Can't leave game without turning off computer half the time. Internet interruptions everyday, all day long, throughout the day.

 “Technical/Customer Support” by raydermundo, 13 Oct 2005

Interface:  4/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  1/5   Fish:  3/5   Bonus:  3/5

EmpirePoker customer support sucks!!! They do not have a telephone number so you can talk to someone when you have a concern. I have invited 3 people to join the site for the "invite a friend" bonus and have NOT recieved my bonus for it. I also signed up for the reload bonus for Oct and have not recieved it. I have emailed numerous times and too no avail no response. I plan on leaving this site because of their customer service. The bonus system would be great if they honored it.

“Empire Poker is No Longer a Party” by ttanaka, 11 Oct 2005

Interface:  4/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  3/5   Fish:  2/5   Bonus:  5/5

Looks like the party is over for Empire poker. Empire Poker and Party Poker has gone their separate ways. This does not bode well for Empire Poker, since a majority of the players and traffic on the network came from Party. Although the interface and software is the same, Party Poker's customer base moved on to its own network. Instead of a bustling poker room of 40,000+ players, Empire had about 8,000 when I last checked. This will affect the action and the fish rating for Empire. Time will tell if Empire will still be a good place to play, but it certainly isn't my favorite any more.

“Empire Bonus Scam” by Andy, 23 Jun 2005

Interface:  1/5   Action:  1/5   Support:  1/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  1/5

I have been playing on Empire for about a year now as well as some other websites. I have not had any problems until recently. A couple days ago I received an e-mail saying that I was eligible for a 100% redeposit bonus up to $100. In fact, I got a pop-up saying the same thing when I signed on. After depositing, I received an e-mail confirming that the bonus amount was added to my bonus account. However, I noticed that the bonus status was "elapsed" and contacted customer support. Here is the first problem with Empire Poker, the Customer Service is at best Terrible. It is impossible to get immediate assistance. There are is no telephone support therefore, I was relegated to e-mail. Upon sending my e-mail, I received a response about an hour later, saying that I could not collect my bonus as I withdrew from my account 7 days ago and management just enforced this new rule effective immediately. NOTICE: This was no where listed on the disclaimers that all bonuses had. So, of course I replied saying how I thought this was "poor customer service, ete." To make a long story short I am about 7 e-mails into this process and have not received any adeaqute responses. In fact, one e-mail said I would have my bonus by the end of the day, while another about an hour later said the most they could give me was $10. That should give some insight into how bad customer serivce there is. I suggest people go to other websites. When it comes down to it, there are a lot of fish on a lot of different sites, so the little things, or big things LIKE CUSTOMER SERVICE really matter. True Poker seems to be a good site. Nice skin and good immediate customer service (like you were using AIM). Plus, they got heads up games which are a nice touch.

“Stop 'rigged site' nonsense” by Nobody, 13 Jun 2005

Interface:  2/5   Action:  5/5   Support:  2/5   Fish:  4/5   Bonus:  3/5

Guys, please stop this nonsense about rigged sites. The only (proven) way sites stole player's money is much simpler than making biased shuffle - PokerSpot was the most prominent example. I'm 100% sure that _none_ of the big rooms is intentionally rigged. Once I've made a thorough statistical check of my hands on PokerStars - and came up with nothing beyond statistical expectations. So until somebody will provide a mathematical proof (rather than emotional "he got one-outer, it should NEVER happen, at least not to me") - I won't even consider such a possibility. Face it, guys - bad beats is an integral part of poker. And those who cannot deal with it, just should not play poker, ever - there are other ways to have fun in life.

“Didn't even get a foot in the door” by USAPokerpoker, 27 May 2005

Interface:  3/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  1/5   Fish:  3/5   Bonus:  3/5

All I have to say about Empire/Party Poker is that their customer service people are incredibly snotty. I wanted to play there. I tried to play there. After actually being called stupid right to my face by their wonderful customer service personnel, I decided to just keep my money under my mattress.

“a good word for empire.” by nomofoshobro, 25 May 2005

Interface:  3/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  3/5   Fish:  3/5   Bonus:  3/5

some of the reviews below have left me scratching my head. taking advice from reviews like that is like getting your news from supermarket tabloids. it should be pointed out to MJD15826R that 3 hours in a live game compared to 3 hours online would produce a ratio of hands played of about 1 to 5. possibly higher when taking into account that you can play 4 tables at once online. therefore the 8 to 40 flushes seen is mathematically correct. people will play questionable hands, and a certain percentage of the time they will win. that is part of the game. And, WhiteShark, are you smoking crack? the hands at party and empire ARE the same. empire is a skin of party. when you are playing at an empire table you are playing against party players as well. the site in general is good. the best feature is the availability of games. you can find any kind of game at any level pretty much 24/7. this is a huge plus and gives you many different levels of player. if you can't eventually make money on this site, you should probably go back to washing dishes at the diner.

“Stay away from this site” by MJD15826R, 14 May 2005

Interface:  2/5   Action:  5/5   Support:  3/5   Fish:  3/5   Bonus:  4/5

The frequency of monster hands that come out at this site are ridiculous. Straights and flushes come out with much higher frequency than live games. Often on showdowns two players will hit flushes. This site reels in the fish because idiots that don't know how to play hit monster hands and that encourages them to keep playing. So often the so-called "fish" are the big winners. You will not improve your poker skills here unless you go play the very high limit games. If you play tournaments you'll find players will call with crap and often win. It's not uncommon for some ass with 4-6 suited to hit a flush all in while two other players with high pocket pairs will get beat with 3 of a kind after the flop. The first night I played here I played a combination of 10 (6) 10/1 , (2) 20/2 and (2) 30/3 sit and go's , winning 5 of them and having a top 3 finish in 8. I withdrew half my winnings and over the next month won only a single $250 multi table tournament in about 30 tournaments (only 2 final tables) and finished first in a 10/1 sit and go table only once in maybe 25 tries. Thinking maybe it was me I went to a live tournament 100/20 in Atlantic City and had a money finish first time out. In three hours of live play maybe 8 flushed came out. At Empire in 3 hours you'll see maybe 40. An example of a ridiculous beat would be Having 3 kings prior to the turn and having a player with pocket 7's hit a 7 on the turn and then the river. If you are going to play here , then put a lot of money in and don't make withdrawals for a long time. If you keep putting in the $50 minimum every so often , you'll never win. The only positive thing I can say is the graphics at the table look nice. Also expect frequent disconnects and long waits when you're in the top 40 of a tournament waiting on other tables. The initial bonus is easy to get.

Interface:  3/5   Action:  3/5   Support:  3/5   Fish:  4/5   Bonus:  4/5

3/4 of the players at Empire are fish. period. If you decide to play in the larger money tables most players will call no matter what the bet. Overall, I give the site good ratings. Customer support has been good during my two occurrences.

“Another Empire” by Mr. X, 28 Jan 2005

Interface:  2/5   Action:  4/5   Support:  2/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  5/5

In my first half hour of Empire I was playing NL and saw AA vs AA preflop, which I have seen very little in the thousands of hands I've played online. Then to top that off there was an AA vs AA vs KK preflop, which I have never seen. In the midst of all this I got pocket Qs losers twice, that were cold called preflop by low suited connectors. It really made me think about the party poker juiced deck theory. Eventually, however, the low level of play came to my advantage as I was able to cash in against a slow played pocket pair with a flush on the river that I didn't even have to to pay to see and that was called all in once made.

Im not sure what it is about empire that strikes me. Ive played on a few sites in the months ive been playing but non of them gave me the sence i wanted to go back and invest more. (i was a little wild in the early days). The VIP section is something to really aim for and im looking forward to getting enough points. Interface is simply, which is really all im looking for, and the lack of stats i actuall find good, makes you pay more attention to the action. Best was is to just try for yourself.

“Empire Poker is the best!” by Rickshaw, 30 Dec 2004

Interface:  4/5   Action:  5/5   Support:  5/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  5/5

Empire poker is just a skin on the Party Poker network. I'm sure most of you know that by now. But just when you think you can't improve on perfection, Empire Poker comes out with better player incentives - bonueses, freerolls, and VIP player points. Empire has made a good thing better. If you are playing at Party Poker, you should switch over to Empire. The action is the same but there are more player benefits.

“Empire Poker Review” by SeriousPlayer, 27 Dec 2004

Interface:  4/5   Action:  5/5   Support:  4/5   Fish:  4/5   Bonus:  5/5

I like Empire Poker the best of all the Party skins. In fact, I like Empire Poker more than any other online poker room at the time of this writing. I know people mention the interface is dated, and maybe they are right, but really, how pretty does a poker table need to be? Does that even really matter? The only issue I have with the interface is that the lobby does not show pre-flop %'s, only average pot size. With regards to the action and fish, Empire has the most... although it has become a better mix of fish and skilled players. Hopefully, you find the fish because they get eaten up pretty quickly. The bonus is great and easy to earn. Empire also occasionally has reload bonuses and player points for a VIP section.

The site is part of the Party Poker skin. There is always plenty of action but also plenty of very skilled players. It is a place where one time you sit down with beginners and the next table it is highly skilled professionals. Decent bonus. With the amount of money they are bringing in I wish they would invest it in a more appealling software.

“Party Is Good 4 Fish Only” by Nemo, 18 Dec 2004

Interface:  2/5   Action:  5/5   Support:  1/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  3/5

Interface is one of the worst in the industry. Support almost non-existent. Action is good (especially fish is good). But if U want to have fun from play or U want to improve your skills - Party is not a good place to go.

Interface:  5/5   Action:  5/5   Support:  4/5   Fish:  5/5   Bonus:  5/5

Interface and Usabilitiy of this poker room is top notch. If you have ever played at party poker this is an identical setup. The poker room action is great with around 35-50k players on at any given time. The table sorting function is very easy to use so you can find any game you want in a couple of seconds. Also has a feature to hide full tables which is nice. Technical/Customer support leaves something to be desired. Could be a lot worse but you dont get a personal feel when you email back and forth with. 95% of responses seem to be pregenerated which is to be expected with as many players as they have. They do hook you up though if you bug them and will often give you a bonus code simply by asking for one if you dont have one available at the time. For this reason they get a 4. If it wasnt for that they would get a 3. Bonus setup is very sweet. They often have redeposit bonuses and the intial 20% up to 100 initial deposit bonus cannot be beat. You only have to play 5x the bonus amount in raked hands which is the easiest bonus out of all poker rooms to clear by far. You can clear your bonus your first day with very little difficulty. With playing 4 tables at the same time it can be done in 3 hours. Ease of Game is also very phat at this site. At the 25NL tables they are loaded with fish. I cant speak on their limit games but their NL games are very lucrative. I have been playing there for 5 months maybe now and the fish continually get replaced with new ones. Havent noticed any increased difficulty there. Maybe people get better and move up and limits and I just keep taking the rolls of all the new players. Makes no difference to me I have done very well there. Check it out for sure it will be worth your time!!!

EmpirePoker is awesome. Although it's the same software and poker room as PartyPoker, there is one difference. EmpirePoker offers FreeRolls and other nice amenities like a VIP club to it's loyal players.
