Classic Poker Update
UPDATE: Classic Poker is not recommended as their links have proven to be unreliable. We recommend that you read our InterPoker Review. InterPoker is on the same poker network as Classic Poker, and InterPoker is solid.

Nuts (Cool): |
|
Good volume of traffic. Very nice client software. Lowest stakes are quite high, meaning fish are available without dropping to micro levels. |
|
Beats (Suck): |
|
Sometimes hard to find full tables on NL ring games at some times of the day, and often there are no queues so a full table can break up very quickly. Customer support is poor. Traffic is heavily weighted towards limit rather than no limit games. |

Classic Poker Rakeback Calculations
Tournament Rake Calculations:
Players get rakeback on the tournament entry fees. It follows the same scale for ring games shown below.
Ring Game Rake Calculations:
Players get rake back whenever they are dealt cards in a raked pot whether they play the hand or not. If a rake is generated in a hand then this is split equally among the players on the table that were dealt cards. Rake in ring games is total rake/total players given cards, example 6 players with $3 rake= 3/6= $.50 attributed rake, and you get your percentage out of this. Depending on how much you play and how many MPPs you earn raises your rakeback from 20% up to 50%. For example, if you are at 20% rakeback (the starting point) you would earn $.10 in rakeback and at 50% you would have mad $.25 in rake. Here is the MPP - Rakeback chart:
0 - 99 MPP - 20% Net Rakeback, 15.5% Gross Rakeback
100 - 599 MPP - 30% Net Rakeback, 23.25% Gross Rakeback
600 - 1,199 MPP - 35% Net Rakeback, 27.13% Gross Rakeback
1,200 - 1,849 MPP - 40% Net Rakeback, 31% Gross Rakeback
1,850 - 2,499 MPP - 45% Net Rakeback, 34.88% Gross Rakeback
2,500 - And Above MPP - 50% Net Rakeback, 38.75% Gross Rakeback

Classic Poker.com Review
is one of the newer skins on the Cryptologic network. Sharing its user base with many existing large established skins such as William Hill, Littlewoods, Betfair and Interpoker, this site immediately ranks fairly highly in terms of player volume.
ClassicPoker offers a choice of Hold’em, 7 card stud, Omaha High and Omaha Hi/Low poker variants. A good range of single and multi table tournaments are available, included a section dedicated to Heads up (called one on one here) games.
Financial transactions are handled by the widely respected ECash system. You can deposit and withdraw using Credit Card, Neteller, FirePay, Citadel, ECheque, Wire Transfer, or standard Cheque. Deposits are instant, but withdrawals are manually processed and will take several working days to reach your account. In addition, you need to wait for a pin number to be snail-mailed to you before you can make a withdrawal – this can take over a week to arrive.

Classic Poker.com Software Interface/Usability
The
client software is quit simple, but very nice and easy to use. I personally play almost exclusively on the Crypto networks because of the client software it does it’s job extremely efficiently.
The lobby provides all of the information you need, such as players per flop and average pot size, and the information is well laid out and easy to get to.
On the tables, there are no flashy graphics, novelties or avatars - but the display is clear, you can select features such as card back colour and 4 colour deck, and the animations are fast.
There is some room for improvement however. Features such as a mini view or resizable tables would be welcomed, as the poker window is a little on the large side. Unless you have a high resolution monitor, overlapping even two tables without overlap is impossible.

ClassicPoker.com Poker Room Action
Action on this site, and obviously the rest of the cryptologic network, is very good. The number of connected players is often in the 7,000-8,000 range, although out of peak hours it can (and does quite frequently) drop to around 1,000.
The main problem on this site (depending on your point of view of course) is that the action is heavily weighted to fixed limit games. This is because of the lobby layout – the NL/FL/PL games are all listed on the same page, and you have to scroll down firstly past all the FL games, then past the PL games, before you hit the NL games. You can choose to order the games by stake rather than limit type, but because this is the default settings, a lot of new players (and probably existing players) don’t realise this. So, a new player will scroll down the list, suddenly see that the stakes are at $150/$300, then scroll back up – not realising that just below them start the $0.15/$0.25 PL, and then after the high stake PL games, the $0.15/$0.25 NL tables.
In busier times this isn’t a problem and you get a good range of players across all game types, but even then if you like to quad table you might find it hard to find four full tables. If you do find four tables to sit at, you will frequently find empty seats popping up or occasionally tables collapsing completely. At lower levels this is not too much of an issue, but it does become frustrating when you play at anything above $1/$2. Again, this is only true on NL, and not Limit.
Action in tournaments is very good, although sit and go’s above $10 can take a while to fill up. Annoyingly, when a sit and go starts, it gives any “sitting out” players a ridiculous amount of time to turn up – something like 2 or 3 minutes. So you will often find your table opens, everyone is seated, and then nothing happens for ages and ages. This is frustrating, but on the upside you might find a couple of people on tilt just from the wait, who then go on to bust out very quickly.

Classic Poker.com Customer and Technical Support
Technical support is rather poor, as is the same across all Crypto sites. There is no live support option – actually technically that’s not true, there is an option, but you are told that no operators are available and it’s “temporarily disabled”. However it has been “temporarily” disabled for over a year! Basically the software feature was included but the poker network has decided not to employ staff to man a live help system. Again, this is common across all Crypto poker rooms.
Email support is disappointing. Replies often take in excess of 24 hours to be sent. If you don’t get the answer you need first time and you have to enter in to an email conversation, expect it to take several days before you get a resolution.
You do however eventually get replies and the answers you get usually are accurate, and there is always telephone support available for really urgent issues. So ClassicPoker does not get bottom marks for customer service, but it’s pretty close.

ClassicPoker's Ease of Game, Ease of Making Money, Fish Rating
Because the lowest limits on are relatively high compared to other sites offering micro stakes, you do get a fairly easy game low down. For Limit, the stakes start at $0.25/$0.50 – for NL, the lowest limit is $25NL ($0.15/$0.25).
There are some good players lurking down at the low limits (me, for example…!) but the user base is far from stagnant. This means that new players, and more importantly new bad players, pop up on a daily basis. You can use the chat facility on the poker tables to ask them to send you their money directly to you through Neteller, or just play good poker against them. Either way the results will be the same.
So yes – there is plenty of money to be made here, just leave some for me ok?

ClassicPoker.com Bonuses and Promotions
Use bonus code FTR25 at
for a 25% initial deposit bonus, with a maximum of $100. So to claim the full bonus amount, you must deposit $400.
To clear the bonus, you must earn MPPs (My Poker Points). MPPs are earned based on the size of each pot. For a pot of $20 or higher, you earn 1 MPP. For a pot of $5 or higher (but less than $20) you earn 0.25MPPs. For pots lower than $5, no points are earned. You need to earn five times your bonus amount in MPPs for it to clear, and the release is not staggered. So to earn your $100 bonus, you must earn 500 MPPs. This is not as bad as it sounds – I cleared a $100 bonus in just 2 days. There is no expiry date on the bonuses however so you do not need to rush, and a neat bar graph and percentage display in the cashier section shows you exactly how many points you’ve earned and how many more you need before the bonus is completed.
At present, MPPs cannot be used for anything other than bonus clearing. Very very occasionally you can enter a small MTT with them, but other than that they will just build up in your account and sit there. A “coming soon” section does promise promotions based on MPPs but there is no scheduled launch date – so check the website for the latest offers.
There is also a progressive bad beat bonus. To qualify, you must play on a cash game (not a tournament), and have your quad Jacks or better beaten. You must use both hole cards to qualify. The amount that you receive is based on the stakes you are playing. 25% for $1/$2 and lower, rising to 100% for $5/$10 and higher, and a few other levels in between.
There is no monthly reload bonus, something which many of the other Crypto sites offer. There is also no friend referral bonus in place.
Don't forget to use bonus code FTR25 at
