Nuts (Cool):

Large user base, lots of action across all game types and levels (excluding MTTs). Good functional software (if you don't mind the basic look). Superb customer service.

Beats (Suck):

Bonuses are not as generous as other sites on the b2b network. Full ring no limit games are only 8-handed. MTT action is fairly low. Player base is primarily European. Graphics and software are quite basic, but you might see this as good. Truly awful name for a poker room!

Tournament Rake Calculations:
VIP points are earned at the rate of 0.2 for each €1 of buy-in fee for freeze-out & Sit and Go tournaments. For re-buy tournaments, you earn 0.2 VIP points for each €1.

Sometimes you are able to enter tournaments by using VIP points for the entry fee – when you do this, you will not earn any back. I.e., you only earn points when paying for the tournament entry with cash.

Ring Game Rake Calculations:
You earn 1.0 VIP point for each pot that generates €0.31 or more in rake. You earn the point regardless of whether you have actively contributed to the pot – as long as you have been dealt cards.

Instead of the usual percentage based rakeback deal that most other sites offer, BambaPoker offers a “cash back” scheme which is based on the number of VIP points you have earned.

At the start of each month, you are paid a cash amount directly in to your poker account based on the number of points earned in the previous calendar month. The amount you earn is listed in the table below.

Min pts	Max pts	Bonus amount
500	100	€5
1,001	1,500	€10
1,501	2,000	€20
2,001	3,000	€30
3,001	4,000	€50
4,001	5,000	€75
5,001	10,000	€100
10,001	15,000	€250
15,001	20,000	€400
20,001	25,000	€600
25,001	30,000	€800
30,001	(no upper limit)	€1,000

– the strangely titled poker room that is not named after a rather bad 1980’s film depicting the life of Ritchie Valens – is a relatively new skin of the popular b2b poker network. The target audience for the skin is primarily Europe, which is evident from not only the languages available on the website but also the fact that the poker site only uses the €Euro for currency.

If you can ignore the rather silly name of the site and bring yourself to play here, you will have a vast option of game types to choose from. In addition to regular Hold’em, you can play Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card stud, 7 Card stud Hi/Lo, 5 Card draw and 2-7 3 Card draw. No limit, pot limit and fixed limit variants are offered.

The financial side of the poker room does not offer a great choice in deposit and withdrawal options. You can choose from Neteller, Credit Card, Bank transfer or WebMoney for depositing, and when withdrawing you have the same options but also can request a cheque. The minimum deposit for any payment type is €20.

The software client makes a refreshing change from the cluttered graphical and animation intensive poker clients that a lot of the other sites are using. The features and options are all tucked away in menus along the top of the window. This does give the software client a very basic and dated feel, however personally I do not feel this is a bad thing. I play poker to play poker. When I want to be wowed by graphics and animations, I will load up Barbie and the magical unicorn. Um, I mean grand theft auto.

The lobby display could be a little clearer – all of the stats you need such as average pot size and players per flop are displayed, but the layout does mean you have to double check you are looking at the right data as there are no grid lines.

The table graphics are also fairly basic, but I feel they have got the colour combinations spot on. There are other b2b clients that share the same software, but they are all coloured and branded differently. The light blue table with the pale background is extremely pleasing on the eye.

The usability of the site is very good, although it does have a couple of slight oddities – for example when you select the tournaments, you get a whole new window popping up rather than just displaying the games in the usual table display. A 4-colour deck option is available, and you can select other simple options such as disabling animation and altering the chat content.

There is no limit at all on the number of tables you can play at, so if you have dual screens and high big resolution, you could in theory play 8 tables or even more if you could keep up!

The main problem with the site however is that a full handed NL Hold’Em table only seats 8 people. 9 or 10 is usually the norm, and dropping it to 8 does mean you might find yourself having to adapt your playing style. You can also choose to play 6-max if you prefer. If you play pot limit, the tables are 9-handed, and for fixed limit they are 10-handed. There doesn’t seem to be any logic as to why the limit variant should influence the number of seats - but it does.

Sit n Gos at The user base on and the b2b network is not huge, but there is enough action to ensure you will find opponents at most times of the day or night at the level and game type you want to play. The action is spread well across the low and medium stakes, and even at the €10/€20 games there are usually a few tables with players seated. Although the traffic is heavily weighted towards Hold’Em, there is a fair amount of action on the other poker types as well. So if you want to try your hand at 5 card draw poker, there will more often than not be tables ready for you to join.

It’s important to note that traffic is mostly found on the short handed 6-table games, rather than the 8, 9 or 10 seat tables.

There is very little action however in the multi table tournaments, and registration volumes for these are usually disappointing. Sit and goes on the other hand are very popular, and you can choose from either 10 or 20 person games – both of which fill up fairly quickly. But you might want to go and put the kettle on whilst you wait at quieter times of the day, as they sometimes can take a while to start.

Firstly the bad news. There is no telephone support, there is no live-chat support. The only way you can contact Bamba (I’m sorry, I just can’t get over how awful that name is – don’t you just want to cringe every time you say it??) is using their 24/7 email system. They boast that it’s available 24 hours a day 365 days a year and that you’ll receive a prompt reply. But like me, I am sure you’ve seen claims like that before.

But wow – do they live up to their promise. Their email support is, quite simply, outstanding. Send them an email, and expect a full concise accurate reply within 15 to 20 minutes. I sent 3 emails over a 16 hour period, and in each case replies were received in less than 20 minutes. Fantastic!

BambaPoker does seem to have an above average player quality, and the fish rating here is low compared to many of the other sites. However because the lowest limit on the site is €0.10/€0.20, it does mean that any fish are likely to be found at a level which can be profitable. There aren’t any micro limit tables for new players to jump to after graduating from the play money games.

If you play No Limit Hold’em, and are used to 10-max tables however, it might take a little getting used to the 8 handed games.

BambaPoker is part of the b2b network, which means it has a lot of competition in terms of other skins to choose from. When people are searching for a poker room, they are going to look at BambaPoker and think two things.

Firstly, why would I join a site that has such an embarrassing name? When I am at the pub with my friends, and the conversation turns to online poker, do I really want to stand up and say “I play at BambaPoker”?

Secondly, I would look at some of the other b2b poker skins and see what bonuses they have. I would see that others offer a 100% signup bonus up to €1200 and 50% monthly reload bonuses. Then I would look at Bamba and see that they only offer a 30% signup bonus up to €200 and no monthly reload bonus.

Like the other b2b sites, you do however get the following bonuses.

The VIP cash back club pays cash in to your poker account each month based on the number of VIP points you earn in the previous month. The payments are tiered based on the number of points generated, as is shown in more detail at the start of the review in the rake back section.

A friend referral bonus is on offer, which rewards you with €25 and any referred players €50 for each one.

Referral and signup bonuses are cleared by earning VIP points, which are earned at the rate of 1.0 VIP point for each pot that generates €0.31 or more in rake. You also earn VIP points for tournament entry fees. You have 60 days to clear the bonus, and it is released at the rate of €100 for every 2,000 points earned.

Last but not least, the site has a bad beat bonus. To qualify, you have to have your quad tens or higher, using both hole cards, beaten. The bonus is progressive, and the amount that is paid out is based on the stakes you are playing at and other criteria, as explained in full on the Bamba website. Part of the small print however does state that 20% of any badbeat bonus will immediately go in to the pot for the second bonus – so at best, only 80% of the bonus will ever be paid out.
