PokerStars, the most popular poker room in the world, features a player-friendly rake schedule. For the most part, PokerStars will take 5% out of every eligible pot. They will not take money out of pots that do not see the flop in Hold 'Em or Omaha, prior to fourth street in Stud, or before players draw in Draw Poker.

Limit players playing $1/$2 and lower will be following a strict 5% PokerStars rake structure.. For example, if you were playing $1/$2 Fixed Limit Hold'Em and the pot was $20, PokerStars would take $1 for the House ($20 x 5%). Thankfully, PokerStars caps the amount of the rake at an amount equal to or near the amount of the Small Blind. For $.5/$1 and $1/$2 the maximum amount is reduced to the amount of the Big Blind.

High Stake limit players, above $1/$2, will follow the same 5% rake format with a few variations. Games playing 3 handed or less enjoy a significant rake break. The maximum amount that can be raked is just $1. Games with more than three players but less than six players will be capped at $2 rake via the PokerStars' Rake Schedule. A Fixed Limit game with six or more players will be subject to a rake of $1, unless the pot exceeds $70. The maximum PokerStars rake for these full games is $3.

Low limit No Limit Hold 'Em players, $0.10/$0.25 and below, are encouraged to take advantage of the low PokerStars rake. Similar to Limit, PokerStars will take just $0.01 for every $0.20 in the pot. This compares favorably to Full Tilt Poker who rakes $0.01 for every $0.15. If you're playing Heads Up the maximum rake at low limits is $0.50. At a full table, the maximum rake is $3.

High Stake players will be raked at the same 5% as their lower limit counterparts. Five percent of the pot is going to the house. Also, the amount of rake taken at Heads Up and full tables is identical ($0.50 and $3). If you're lucky enough to be playing at $50/$100 NL/PL or higher, the maximum rake increases to $5.

Check the table below, which shows the PokerStars rake for all no-limit and pot-limit games:

PokerStars Rakeback does not exist, but the PokerStars VIP Program offers players a better way to recoup their rake. In addition to instant cash injections for your bankroll, dubbed Stellar Rewards, players will earn FPPs they can use in the PokerStars VIP Store. Players can use their FPPs to buy tournament entires, acquire cash bonuses, and buy books, iPods, and gaming consoles. Don't be disappointed there is no PokerStars Rakeback. The VIP Program and low PokerStars rake are two primary reasons why more people in the world play at PokerStars than any other online poker room.
