    He layed it down.
I'd like to milk his stack more from my straight. Perhaps double up.
Just smooth call, then push on river would also be appropriate?
Did I reraise him too much?
Villain hesitated alot before laying it down.

Both smooth calling and betting the river or minraising the turn are good choices here imo. I would be convinced my hand is good and it is very unlikely he is holding two diamonds.

-I was more wondering if you think the flop was good because you hit?

not a fan of chasing the gut shot.
not a fan of the push. you're better off doing a min-checkraise.

    Oh, I'm sorry.
I meant at the turn. As events played, I hit my straight. he made aggressive bet, I made more aggressive re-raise.

Which was OK, I think he would have spewed some more chips if you had:

    -minraised
    -smooth call and lead river

-Do you really want to be calling the flop there? How often do you just lose those chips as opposed to hitting a straight (basically the only hand you can make to be competitive with this pot.)

You are right though, but it was a very small bet.
I considered it an acceptable risk.
If that 4 wouldn't have dropped on the turn, I'd bail out.
Plus, his stack was twice mine. If i hit, I could double up, provided he wasn't drawing for a flush.

Also, since he minbet, I put him on leading for the sake of leading. Maybe he had the goods, say an overpair. He should have made it expensive for me to draw.

Shrug, on one hand it's a cheap price to hopefully hit and take a bunch of chips from some big hand. I think your mindset is ok if you have a better drawing hand where you have a better chance to hit the cards you need.

Sure you're getting priced 4.5:1 to catch here but I think you are like 8% to hit that card on the turn. How often do you think you hit AND stack off on this guy? Them are slim pickens.

What happens to your EV for the rest of the tournament if you call the flop here and miss/fold the turn?

You are right. And me saying that i had a "feeling" that that 4 would hit isn't a proper argument.
Ah well, then I got lucky. I won't do it again, I promise
