Default Target Cash % in Low-Limit SnG?

    Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a target cash % or win % you should aim for when playing SnG? Or maybe a target ROI? I recently started tracking my own stats to see how I do & make notes of each SnG to see if I am making the same mistakes constantly. Is 33% cash % too high? (Playing full ring SnG - top 3 get paid out, so I just did the simple math)

Side Question: I've read the standard SnG strategy to sit tight early, play aggressively mid-game & try to steal blinds as often as possible. It could just me being much too tight early game, but I find myself with about 1200-1350 chips entering 50/100 blinds. Does this sound about right? Or should I open up my game a little? (I'll still play premium hands aggressively of course, but fringe hands are normally mucked)

    Thank you all.

It's been ages since I played regularly, and the games have changed (for the worse) since Black Friday, but I do seem to remember that a reasonable long run ROI at lower buyins was somewhere around 10-15% with ITM around 40%. May have changed since then though.

On your side question, the strategy you describe has been the winning formula almost since SNGs were invented and is really just good poker strategy adapted to the SNG structure.

You should look to maintain your stack above 20bb, preferably 30bb+. With 30bb+, I loosen up and try to put people in tricky spots. Between 20bb and 30bb I'm comfortable and looking for good spots to build my stack further. 10-20bb I'm looking to double up with a tight range, and under 10bb I'm looking to double up with a loose range.

I don't know if this is a particularly good SNG strategy, it serves me well as a vague guidline in MTTs. But for sure if I were regularly looking at 15bb stack when blinds get to 100, then yeah I'd be thinking I'm doing something wrong.

Keep an eye on the average stack. That's a rough guidline for where you can consider yourself comfortable.
