Question Playing Knock Out MTT vs normal MTT

    Hi everyone,

I normally play MTTs and some 90man-SNGs, but I would like to try out the Knock Out MTT's. Does anyone have experience with these? how much is the strategy different from normal MTT's? Is there really a big difference? and what about the progressive knock outs?

IMO a reg bounty mtt strat should be no diff than a regular mtt, just remember sometimes people are gunning for the bounty even though its worth very little but donkies will be donkies so just keep it in mind that sometimes when generally you might have fe its very possible you will be called to have the bounty picked off.

pko's on the other hand the bounties are worth more, basically 1/2 the tourny buyin is a bounty on your head and each player you take out you get 50% of the bounty on their head and the other 50% goes into your account, so I think this would certainly alter the strategy in some situations and similar to the prev comment i had will be even more so in you getting called and basically having 0 fe if your stack size is a mere dent to another stack as the bounty $$ will be worth the risk in chips. On that not I have only played like 2 pko's myself and got creamed early so very little experience with them nore have I done any investigation myself on what adjustments may be good to take into consideration.......in general however I think from you play no but keeping in mind others may gun for that bounty on your head especially if you have managed to take out a few people and the bounty is worth more.

Yeah you want to play them the same as regular mtts. When you get low on chips and wait for a good hand a lot of times you can triple up or more to your chips because a lot of people call of small stacks to try to get there bounties.

Progressive boutnies will play differently as the game gets deep. What might be the wrong side of marginal in a regular format could be the right side of marginal if villain has a large bounty on his head.

Also, taking on crippled villains with junk is not gonna be a bad move either. I limped Q4o on the button yesterday because I crippled the CO the hand before, leaving him less than a blind. Folded flop ofc, but his bounty made it worth a single big blind after binking a huge pot the hand before.

I treat regular bounty games the same as non-bounty games though. The goal remains the same - final table. If I get there, I'm obviously gonna take down a lot of bounties on the way. Playing for bounties is not a good idea imo, it encourages spew.

I played some ko´s / super ko´s / progressive sko´s and i watched the players calling lighter than in normal mtt´s (and i am also often tempted LOL). And that´s ok, because there is more Money in the pot than in a regular tournament. I found it also funny, that the minimum cash is less than the buy in

I've always had the believe that they should be played as normal tours. If you go deep playing your normal game, you automatically get some bounties along the way. Way to often you call someone who is lowstacked with a not so good hand, just to see 3-4 players behind you do the same. What is your hands worth then? No, try to play them as you would play a normal tour, and it all will come to you
