Default Nash calling range seems loose?

I tried to follow the Nash guidelines for endgame play. Villain shoved with around 5 big blinds. I had 96s, normally I would have folded but Nash said to call, so I did. He had Qx and it felt awful. What is the reasoning behind calling with 96s? I feel like I'm going to be behind almost always. I could see shoving with 96s at 5 big blinds but I didn't like calling with it.

Also I mute all chats. Is that rude?

a little town called none of your goddamn business
Nash calling ranges are probably a little loose for small stakes tournaments where people don't know how to shove correct ranges.

That said, in your 96s example, you should expect almost never to be ahead, the reason the nash range says to call is because you are getting a price with 5bb, you're calling 4 bb to win 6.5bb plus the antes. You thus only need like 35% equity to make the call.

In most situations in poker you only need to be good 25-35% of the time to call, so get used to that idea.

no, muting is not rude, people are.

There are people who, when they call a 12BB reshove all in with something like JJ who feel really happy when villain turns over 88-TT because they are ahead, really sad when it's QQ+ because they are behind, and meh when they see AK/AQ. But all of these feelings (even the good ones) are off base because the dude with the 12 BBs was shoving all of those anyway and which one he has is not important. We all have these feelings or some variations of them, the goal is just to be aware of them and attempt to not let them change our decision making. This happens over time and lots of hands. Clearly you are studying and working on your game - keep up with that, trust the process, evaluate some Nash ranges by hand, read post watch videos etc. The knowledge you have about why the right play is right will help with the feelings.

Too loose for me but I notice that the game in general is becoming much looser both online and live.

I don't typically follow Nash guidelines but because I'm usually either playing micros or in tourneys where I have a ton of history with the other players.
but as far as calling off 5bb's shove goes, we're going to be getting over 2to1 & folding something like 96s would be a sin imo (typically if you're getting 2.2 to 1 it's a call w ATC)
