Pretty good Sunday, though some donktard decided to call off with his draw and bink it on me I would have been the huge chip leader on the cusp of the final table of the Ongame 100k.

Ended up with a 13th in that for $1200 and a small win in a $20 tourny for $1400.

Who's playing today? I was going to, but I had ridiculous software problems on PokerStars on Friday and have yet to hear back from support with explanations. I think I'll stop playing on the site til they get back to me.

Went to the casino today to play their monthly deepstack $300+40. Turns out they were just running their usual $100+15 donkament because of a $2000 buyin event running today at their sister property. Boourns.

I'm going to play 3 events at the Borgata in September. HORSE, PLO and a deepstacked $100K event. I spaced them apart by a few days, the non-holdem events get very small fields but go 2 days. It's been years since I really grinded MTTs so I will need some mental health time.

I've only played donkaments at the Borgata a couple times, but they seem really well run. Are you good at HORSE? I would love to get decent at non-Holdem games since the small fields sound awesome.

In theory anyway. I've only played it twice and the quality of play was pretty mediocre and the structure quite good. I have issues with the floor staff at this particular venue though.

Both times I played this tournament this same situation arose: TD comes to balance the tables, "tells" a player to move to their new seat. The player (a reg both times) tells the TD "no I don't want to move". TD looks over at the other table, picks another seat and asks another player (me, both times) to move.

The first time I went with it since my current seat wasn't so good. The second time I made a fuss (had a great table and good reads) and was told I didn't have an option.

tl:dr, I'm not a reg and don't tip the floor. Regs at this joint get to tell the TD they don't want to move tournaments tables after they are told to move.

yeah that's super tilting. I know that a casino around here once moved a girl to another table at her request (during an MTT), which is also unacceptable. I thought about complaining, but I haven't seen them do anything bad since, so I just let it go.

I guess you should complain about it to someone that can fix it? Seems bad that it happens repeatedly. Or don't play there I guess...

I consider myself pretty good. From what I understand, having talked to a lot of players, having played a few small BI HORSE games in the area and talking to some AC dealers, almost no one is really good at all 5 games on the East Coast. Also, a lot of the people who are good at stud are older guys who aren't good tournament players.

My best games are, in order: stud hi, razz, omaha 8. I've been studying razz/stud a lot lately, and think I have gotten better at stud 8. LHE sorta tilts me. I actually like 2-7 better than any of those games but I don't know anyone who runs one.

Yeah really not much I can do in that spot other than "play or pass". Shame since it's one of the only two casinos here with decent MTTs, and is much closer than the other.

I really should try harder to break out of my mtt donkey shell and learn to crush live cash games- but I really like mtts!

I'm trying to get a group together to play some HORSE sessions on Pokerstars Home Games (play money cuz I'm in the "land of the free") and do Skype chats and talk about hands and stuff. So if anyone is interested let me know, I'll send you the link/password etc.

I created a game for Saturday afternoon EST if you're in the club.

I think most people with poker acumen can learn HORSE reasonably quickly. Stud and razz are probably the easiest games to learn. Razz is the most straightforward game in creation, something close to 90% of all spots are automatic. Hi-lo games are tricky if you've never played them but the good thing about them is you can get away with just playing uber tight. LO8 is probably the most difficult, complex game to learn.

I'll try to come out & join you sometime baudib. I'm far from competent at mixed games (tourney) but do know how to play to a degree (& have studied a bit). I'm also a bit of an older fart (not that means I know how to play... just thought I'd add it in there).
I'll try to sign up to your Stars HG Club. (update... just applied now. name is: JanisSoprano (< don't ask) )

7 final tables holy crap! congrats on profitable sunday

I busted my two MTTs and sadly wasted the rest of my day. Wasting time is awesome, but I always feel guilty when I didn't plan it.

Hello everyone! This makes a lot of sense indeed a lot of familiar faces, can't you change my name here into MasterOfDisaster.

    So who's playing WCOOP?

I am not into playing MTTs these days, so I probably won't play much. I want to play either no full ring or as little as possible, and my other problem is that most of the tourneys start too early for me.

As of now I'm planning on playing the $320 6-max shootout tomorrow and the $215 HU on Wednesday. And also their respective 2nd chances.

GL to everyone else playing. Post here with trip reports!

gl courtie in WCOOP, it's way beyong my BR so I'll only be there if I win a seat somehow. Will have a punt at the FTR promotion, that's about my best hope. Might not even play if I do win a ticket, I should really trade if for tourney dollars and play lots of storms. We'll see about that if I win a seat!

Finished just in the cash in the storm, same story as always, some idiot does something idiotic. Also made top 50ish from over 8k in the big $4 for a prize of $55, again some fucking muppet ruined my day by playing 69o vs my raise and chasing bottom pair to river to make 2pr. wp sir etc. I did win a race AQ vs AK though so I guess I can't complain too much. Plus I've just cashed out a good % of my BR for IRL reasons, so a 50 bucks boost is more than welcome.

My starting table was very tough and I had a VERY bad seat with 3 solid/great regs to my left. I was down to 8bb early after getting 2-outered twice but I managed to build back up.

Right now I'm HU with Martin Staszko. Been playing him for around an hour. He has a 2-1 CL at the moment, hopefully I can come back.

I lost. Overall I ran pretty badly. Last hand was a cooler though:

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, 320 Tournament, 150/300 Blinds 35 Ante (2 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Hero (BB) (t12137)
    SB (t17863)

    Hero's M: 23.34

Preflop: Hero is BB with 10, Q
SB bets t600, Hero calls t300

    Flop: (t1270) 6, 9, 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets t725, Hero raises to t2085, SB calls t1360

    Turn: (t5440) 8 (2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets t2850, Hero raises to t9417 (All-In), SB calls t6567

    River: (t24274) Q (2 players, 1 all-in)

    Total pot: t24274

    Results:
    Spoiler:

SB had 4, 5 (flush, Queen high).
Hero had 10, Q (straight, ten high).
    Outcome: SB won t24274

Courtney, what's up with not playing FR tournaments? I say I prefer 6-max games too but sometimes I find FR comforting because I'm less tempted to play marginal/good hands in EP.
Playing big pots at small stakes.

I find FR excruciatingly boring these days. I already don't like MTTs as much as I used to, so I would rather just play something else (even if it means missing out on a WCOOP event). It seems weird to me that you'd be more tempted to play marginal hands at a 6m table cuz you get LP so often and can just play the next hand. I raise way more marginal hands in EP playing FR than I do 6m (which usually isn't a good thing).

By "marginal" I mean hands I would consider premiums and would open at most poker games, like AJs/KQs/KJs/QJs etc. In a FR MTT with 23 BBs, I get AQo UTG and just wanna barf.

I am confused. You don't want to open these hands?

It depends, but usually not opening KJ-type hands UTG at FR. Is that too nitty? 6-max I'd open all day.

I think all the hands you listed in the other post (AJs/KQs/KJs/QJs) are all snap opens from any position, but I highly doubt folding KJ utg is bad (assuming 9+ players).

Obv it depends on the table. If you don't have competent post flop players behind, if the table is super nitty, or if you have idiots that will frequently call dominated, then you should be opening a much wider range. But I know you know that.

I open a lot of suited hands in EP.

I might just suck cuz I will regularly open-fold stuff like QJs/KJ UTG all the time. There are of course plenty of tables where you can minraise a wide range UTG and take it down.

You're almost certainly losing value by not raising stuff like QJs. IMO you need a reason to NOT raise it rather than the other way around.
