I guess for protection - the raise pre is fine in position cuz we will often get a fold, we might flop huge, we are protecting our button, and we have position. But a J,Q,K, or A sure would be ugly on the turn.

I guess checking is fine for pot control.

Too thin value here? I used half my time bank on this river, villain was solid and probably didn't have A8- in his range.

First hand is standard.

The TT hand - obviously any hand with a Q there and u r toast, but his range still includes AT,AJ, AK(?? - many would raise with AK there pre) and maybe some other 2 pair broadways like JK. I think checking behind might be losing more value.

p.s. congrats on the FTs.

With the way the games were playing his range is {KK+/AK}, weighted towards KK+. fwiw he told me he had AA.

Are you sure he's dirksen geni?

If you put his range on AA, KK, or AK you're still 60% on this river.

Couldn't AxQs play it fairly similar? I don't think I can fold this here.

btw not saying it's bad just saying I'm amazed at how gigantic a laydown that is, esp vs someone who's capable of checking AK this way (u were there etc...so wtf do I know)

meh - if it's not scary enough for you to not slowplay your set, I don't see why AK wouldn't slowplay also.

Ouch. Turned the straight AND rivered the flush. Hard to believe the money went in goot!

Your calling range comment is over my head? Must be sarcasm, damn interweb. GG.

I'd have thought KK was also in your calling range. Does the flat payout structure change it that much?

weird Sunday. Started out losing 40k with HU cash, then I lost some step 6s hu. After that I finished 2nd in a 20k winner-takes-all sat, followed by a 2nd in the 550 mtt on Betfair.. And if that wasn't enough I bubbled the final table at the big weekly T6poker tourney and got 5th in the stars 109r.. crazy stuff

Net results for the day: 0

I think it's great how people think being 300 BB deep is an excuse to play any two cards even OOP.

I'm not saying I would lay it down in the heat of the moment. I am saying it is one of those hands where after the dust has settled, an argument can be made for a fold there since 35 is his most obvious holding and you are still over 250BBs deep if you fold.
