Against Ripp, yes, against most people, no.

From what I've seen from Ripp, I don't think he shoves all in on real hands, he more slowplays them, and an all in immediately on the flop is likely to be a bluff.

On the other hand, I got knocked out by a guy (that I knew nothing about, and therefore had no read on) that shoved all in immediately with a set without even checking to Fishstick, the preflop raiser (who I was already planning on check raising against). I wouldn't play a set like that, and I doubt Ripp would either, so it fooled me into calling with TPTK.

If on the other hand, the guy checked it, Fishstick bet, I raised, and then he shoved all in, I wouldn't have called. So maybe there's something to the way he played it, as it did fool me into thinking he was semi-bluffing on a flush draw. I just like to ensure I'm going to get action more often than an all in would, when I have a monster hand.

yeah, thats the big one. in order to try to pick off a bluff, you have to know your opponent is capable of bluffing.

Looks like Rip's rag strategy *ahem* was a flop...

there was a similar hand where i had KK raised 1500 and had 1 caller flop A rag rag, and opponenet went all in, i folded in this situation because i knew the player had previosuly played ace rag to decent raises, and also hadnt shown any bluffs previosuly when he won hands, or bet out and was called, he always had a hand, basically you know rippy, and the fact that he doesnt like to let go of a hand he is invested in.

i've said it before:

"if rippy raises, call, if rippy just calls or checks, beware!"

i would have made the same call (against rippy) - not so sure with anyone else.
i hate what i have become to escape what i hated being...
