I'm familiar with Flexro... he's tight aggressive. Can you make this play?

I get in Free on the BB. I flop second pair, no kicker on an uncoordinated board. it's a little unusual, but I decide lead out with my second pair. No one's shown any strength at this point, so I'm kinda hoping to take it down right here.

I get two callers. Turn is no help. TAG raises, and knocks the second caller out of the pot.

    I call. Why?

Opponent is tight and aggressive, and came into the pot early. he's either got overs or a pair. There's a small chance he's got a set, but I think he's raising UTG with any overpair preflop, and very likely TT as well. Unless he's got 77 (unlikely since i hold one), 33 (may muck this UTG, but not impossible). Or 88 (which might have folded on the flop, I'm ahead here.

River is a total blank. My opponent is not holding anything that would conceivable have hit two pair or a straight here. Plus the bets too small to fold to at this point.

Good logic, or bad? is my Rippy good here?

I think you're beat, but you're getting almost 10-1. Call. If he's TA he certainly has a PP or has matched something on the board. He shouldn't have anything worse then 8x. The only drawing hand I can see calling the flop is 98s, which would've hit the turn 8.

But why are you leading at a 6way pot w/SPBK? Fold the flop. Fold the turn.

In addition to sets that are beating you:

    1) The following hands are all reasonable:
    99 9T JT 7X QT KT

    2) Less reasonable but consistant:
AT 7T T3 69 (I think all these either raise or fold flop)

Agree with Aces, fold flop, fold turn.
Alternately, bet weaker on the flop, it's ragged, you're the BB, and it's multiway (reducing the chances of a bluff raise).

Yeah, you might be called with crap and have to check/fold the turn, but you do have crap.... it's not like you want to be called down here.

It's crazy. I realize that. Sometimes I pull this play... you'd be surprised how often I can make this play work. If I get reraised on the flop, I'm certainly out of the pot... but I know this particular opponent well enough to know several things about him (We've played together several times, I have extensive notes on him.

One... if he has an overpair here, he's raising in an instant.

A set here is possible... but unless he's got 33 I don't see it.

He's on an overcard/straight draw. I'm almost 90 percent certain of it. If he's got a set, that board certainly doesn't scare him... The other caller on the flop worries me... but once he folds on the turn, I go with my gut.

I certainly am not raising here with middle pair, but I feel confident in my call down. Without a read, there's no way I'm here at the end.

Like I said, leading the flop's a bit overly aggressive... it probably borders on stupid at times... but I'll pull it on occasion. I'm certainly not married to the pot here at all by raising 90. The fact that I didn't get reraised on the flop is mildy reassuring.

Like I said, it was a crazy little hand... and I play it ENTIRELY differently against a different opponent.

How many Taggs are playing these in UTG + 1? Other than 99?

I think a Tagg might play a suited connector, especially the higher ones UTG+1 after a limp for small blinds.

67/78/QTs/KTs maybe not so likely. I also didn't get the message that villian was a KNOWN quantity.

I could have made that clearer in my post... it's there in the first line, but I didn't say how much I'd played in the past.

In the end, he had a nice big old Ace and a King, which fit logically into the spectrum of things he might play like this.

My play was a little irrational on the surface, but I think you guys know that my play is generally fairly solid... I'm not wreckless in any way...

I felt, and still feel that I played this hand very well.

This room is a good place to be
I would personally fold/raise/call the turn about 70/25/5

    im so asian
i dont like your turn or river line. I dont like to call down on draw heavy boards. Just about every draw hit this board, i think you are beat enough of the time on the turn to lay this one down, but im betting/check raising the turn, not calling a bet........id rather just fold.
