Result from my last 12 sng's ($1 and $5 on UB):
4 - 4 - 7 - 4 - 3 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 2 - 4 - 4 - 2 - 4
Patterns: I'm almost always among the chip leaders going into 5 or 6 handed at which time I seem run into a run of dead cards. By the time we get to the bubble I'm usually short stacked. Stealing blinds never seems to work. (For instance, had a player who called almost every hand pre-flop today and would usually stay in until at least the turn. Yesterday I had the chip leader, with a very large stack, 2 seats to my left. Called every time I tried no matter how big the bet.)
I've tried the ideas I've gotten here with, unfortunately, little success so far. I hate beating this to death but I KNOW there's an answer out there somewhere that will push my play up the notch it needs to turn all those fours into ones and twos. I just haven't been able to find it yet. Hopefully one of y'all will have the key.

I've been having the same problems. Getting my blind steals called or going all in when I have the better hand and getting outdrawn. I'm taking a long break from SnGs and going to subscribe to www.realpokertraining.com

I think some of the problems you are having are coming from the fact that you are playing $1 and $5 SnGs. One of the reasons that stealing blinds on the button works so well is that people have a physcological problem risking their money when they are close to the bubble. With $1 and $5 SnGs, you have more of a micro-limit hold'em mentality. The, what the heck, I am the big stack and I am willing to risk it to outdraw you with any 2 cards. While normally I would tighten up here and wait for a big hand to go all in with, that may not be a luxuary you can afford if the blinds are too high.
What I might do is start to play ultra agressivly when trying to steal (often times not even in the "proper" location near the CO.) I like to go all in pre-flop with any decent A or small pair. Otherwise I'll raise hard, and if I hit a flop I will check raise. Normally if a player hits even bottom or second pair on a flop and it is checked to them they will bet. That is when I will check raise and normally take down their stack when they call with the second best hand. If I miss the flop, the play becomes much more tricky and is dependant on your read on the individual. If you think he'll call with anything, then it may be time to check fold it (setting up your check raise). Otherwise I may bet out 2/3 the pot and hope to draw a free card at the tun. This is all relative to your reads. No situation can be played well without your reads on the players which will always vary from one SnG to another. Try to steal from people who will let it go. Know who will call a raise steal but not an all in steal. I hope some of this helps.
