Default Good spot for short stack push?

    Hi all,

$4.40 180 seat on stars, blinds 75/150, Hero is UTG+2, M of just under 10 with 99. UTG limps, UTG+1 shoves his 720 chips. Is this a good spot to push to try and isolate UTG+1 assuming he is pushing wide with an M of only 3? Or is it too risky given 6 players (4 biggish stacks) still to act behind and getting pot odds around1.5/1? do I have enough chips to make this move or should I wait for a better spot? I'm inclined to think that this is a +ve play but would like to hear the thoughts of the more experienced players on the forum either confirming or putting me straight on this!!

Push to isolate is fine with your stack. 99 plays pretty well here.

You can push or fold here, they both have their own arguments to support them. Its kinda hard to say what i would do as it would depend on the reads i have on the stacks behind me. Its probly something like 65% push, 35% fold for me, but thats just guessing.

Push is probably not bad but I think I'd fold here - too many IFs. What's your read on UTG? I'm always suspicious of early player open limping. And what's your read on UTG+1? Is there a great possibility of you being either coin-flip or dominated? Then there are lots of them to act behind. I dunno ... 99 is not such a great hand that early and your M is not really that low. Maybe I'm just a nit but if you get just one more caller then it's pray-time.

unless you have a rock read on UTG, this is an easy push.

Yes this was a major part of my thinking. I need to get some chips fast if I'm going to be in contention and 99 is playable. I remember reading in HOH about this move as means of isolating a short stack pusher but I think he was advocating it when you have a big stack yourself and put in a large raise to keep the other large stacks out. Obviously in this situation my FE is very slim if anything at all, but if I isolate him then my 99 is prolly ahead and if its not, I still have 1300 chips to play with if I lose, assuming no calls of my all in of course which was possible with 6 still to act and UTG possibly trapping.
