180 person tournament at my local casino. Bout 70 people left. Blinds are 300/600 and I'm sitting at like 3100 chips.

My table is pretty aggro, couple of big stacks raising 10x BB and pushing all-in pretty frequently. I'm dealt
out of position. Short stack pushes all in, 1 caller. Now its to me, I fold. Another big stack calls and it goes to the flop.
. They check all the way through and the short stack takes it with 2 pair Q 9. I'm kicking myself because it was a 8000 chip pot and would have put me as chip leader at the table. My logic was that 44 out of position is likely to get pushed all in by a big stack and if any overs flopped Im out. Of course I end up going out a little while later on a missed draw, but whatever.

What do you do in this situation?

Number one, don't be results oriented. Number two, don't let yourself get so short. You should have pushed a little while ago. Having an M of ~3 I may have called. Ideally, you want to be the one pushing first in with this hand in this situation. The next hand that I get and it's folded around to me I would push. If you were seeing flops after this, and I'm assuming you were since you were playing a draw, you were playing incorrectly. When you get lower than 10M you have to stop calling and start pushing most of the time. Around 10M you can raise preflop but be prepared to go all the way. When you get closer to 5M you have to either push or fold.

This was my point though, I wasnt getting an opportunity to be the one to push. It was either call for my whole stack or fold.

I'm assuming from your response that as short stacked as I was it was an easy call here, regardless of the flop.

with a stack this short, you almost have to push any PP, even if there is a caller in front of you, IMO.

Alright thanks, I'm going to play another one tomorrow and I'm gonna try and be much more agressive before I get short stacked.

swiggidy will become famous soon enough
The size of the other stacks matter too. If Shorty was only 1000 and you had pushed, maybe the first limper folds? Now you're heads up and the pot will basically double you up.

Nah he almost had me covered so it was basically calling an all in with 44. I guess in a 4 way pot though I'm getting pretty good odds on a pocket pair.

I agree with push before this, you can't let the blinds hit you here.

Calling is bad. You're best case running against 4 overs, often you're drawing to a 4.

When you have a question about pre flop action, don't post the flop.
