From my prior postings I was supposed to try LHE at the gaming club, but it seemed when I logged into IRC that everyone was talking about SNG's. So I thought what the hell I'll try it.
I read up some of the strategy here and followed the TA->LA method. My first game I came in second which I was pretty happy about, and so I tried again and got first!!!
To my point. I played 3 more after that and came in 4th, 4th, and 5th (these were all 10 person SNG's). Here's my question. The difference between the first 2 and the last 3 was that in the early stages, before level 4/5 I was very tight but in the first 2 i managed to pick up a AK, AA, or KK that I was able to push with and win. The last 3 I didnt get any good hands up till level 4 where the blinds started to eat quickly at my stack. Whats the strategy here supposed to be? If I'm short stacked at these levels I pretty much have no option but to push if I want to play the hand, but I don't want to push with garbage and seemed to put myself in a tight situation. Is there a point where I just have to pick my balls up and throw in there with 84o or J3s?
Also if someone could tell me how to get my hand histories from the gaming club I would appreciate it.

That is great advice. After coming onto this Forum, I learned something very valuable.... I'm not that good.I've read most the books and even comprehended them. I have committed myself to learning the math and can calculate the odds of improving based on my outs. I understand the Pot Odds and am getting fairly good at keeping track of the pot (live games). And still, I am not that good. I have had a few moments of clarity recently. Understanding (I think) why bluffing with certain cards are better than others. I need to work on remembering who bet, who called and who raised and when when the cards turn over. Trying to remember what the situation was when individuals made their actions is something I know will make me stronger. But still I am not that good. I know the people at my home game consider me strong, but my studies have not given me a decisive edge over the players who are just winging it. However I am getting stronger. I am getting better at judging who is holding what (although not yet reliably). Coming up with the odds is coming faster, keeping track of the pot is becoming more of a habit, seeing the opportunity to steal is becoming more clear, I am calling less and leading the betting more and I am getting better knowing when I am behind in the hand and when I am ahead. I only started playing in home games (SNG about 4 months ago and would say that overall I am in the negative. However lately I have been seeing strong improvement and would say I over the last month I am have been playing about even. There really is no substitue for experience. I think if I keep reading this board and keep working on my game, I might be able to get that consistant edge I am looking for. Sorry for the long rant.

Thanks for the advice. Using the Gap Theory had been hard for me, but I am working on it. If I can't raise, I am folding unless there is a big payday if I hit a hidden hand (ie: Low connectors of middle pair) and in those situations, I am not calling a large raise.
