I am not folding this in a million years. If opp has a set here I pay him off. If he called the preflop raise with T8, I pay him off and bang my head against the wall.

yeah, there aren't enough chips in a STT (is this a STT?) to make me lay down kings (at least without an ace on the board). his range is just too wide here to lay this down.

in a sng you're going to have to play TPTK like it's the nuts a lot of the time and get busted every now and then. you might not like it, but if you're putting those hands aside even somewhat irregularly, then you're just not playing an optimal game.

This kind of overpair is very often the nuts at a low buyin (what's the buyin?). Super easy call.

while i don't like turbos and i disagree with many who advocate a slightly looser strategy (i would prefer to enact a strategy in accordance with the current blinds, antes, and number of players--and not think about the future), i almost want to say that while i never fold KK in a sng on this board, i NEVER EVER fold KK in a turbo sng, at all.

i'm sure i could come up with some situations where i might fold KK, and there are bubble situations where that would be the best move, but still. insta-call.

This is too simplistic. If there was a raise and re-raise preflop and the flop comes A high that's not a bad time to fold. If there was lots of preflop action, the flop comes AQJ all black, you have two red kings and there's serious postflop action in front that may not be a bad time to fold either.

Preflop I agree with you, I'm never folding KK in a normal SNG, even on the bubble.

i agree with you entirely. i was more getting at the fact that, it's pretty obvious when you've got to lay down kings, you're not going to have to ask about those times. plus i sort of wanted to make a joke about turbo sngs, but i suppose that doesn't come across too well

despite all that, i would still guess that one could also never fold kings in STTs, period, and be successful at just about any stakes.

no way is this an easy laydown. at least i wouldn't lay this down based on the given information. plus since it is early in the tourney, and there are no real reads, i think i'd just have to pay off someone who happened to get lucky and flop a set. you cannot really put your opponent on T 8. more realistically, a flush draw or a made set. i'd probly think for 10 seconds and make the call.
