Hand 1 - probably fold. You say he limps a lot but what does he go all-in with after a flop? Does he ever raise preflop - if so with what? You are only beating 9J, TJ or a bluff here - lots of hands beat you.

Hand 2 - raise preflop.

for hand #1, Firstly what would he play like that? set on a board like that? call or small raise. 2 pair? he wouldnt limp with J6, TPTK? from what iv'e seen he would have bet out. From his point of view havent shown strength preflop, also he has seen 3 checks and then a bet from the last player to act which may look to him like a blatent steal.

Hand #2 - generally in the earlier stages (first two hours) i play very passively preflop with two unpaired high cards, i like to invest as little as possible unless I can make a hand, and if i do make a hand, i can generally get paid off or release it if i think its second best, I think i play passively preflop based on when i first started playing i played almost exclusively at $25NL, and soon learned that there was no value in raising preflop with 2 high cards - you miss the flop they are extremely hard to bluff so i like to make a hand before commiting more chips than i have to.

From his point of view - EP limper he probably thinks PP or an ace, he sees me bet into a lot of players and so probably puts me on TPGK. He then raises me a callable amount.

Hand #1 - I would fold. Your hand may be good, but at this point, I don't think it's worth finding out.

Hand #2 - I would go all in. Raising preflop would have made your desicion easier because you would have reduced the number of hands your opponent could have. However, TPTK is pretty good. I think you're good here, and I'd push.

Hand 1 - I don't know, you tell me. From the info you gave he could have been playing JQ, JK, JA, QQ, KK, AA, 44, 66, and even 46s that way. The fact that someone limps a lot - doesn't mean that they go all-in a lot. Clearly you caleld, since you had more than double your chips a couple hands later. But, if you are looking for a pat on the back, you got to give us more info so that we can then say - yeah, what a great read.

Hand 2 - if you really are playing this way - then I want to be at your table. Limping AK is basically asking to be beat by hands like A2, A3, A4, etc. I'm not saying you should overvalue AK (it is vulnerable) but don't undervalue it either. I try to make consistent raises preflop with any hand I play. I will occassionally get into a limpfest, but I try not to be the one starting it off, unless I'm in really early position, have a great drawing hand, and know that my table is passive enough that a limp will make it through.

tough decision

Been playing at this table for at least 4 orbits and this is the first time I had seen rainman raise preflop, he was also generally passive postflop.
any thoughts?

preflop, given his small raise i was thinking AA/KK/JJ/AK, and when the flop came down i was beating only AK, however i was getting the odds to call based on the flush draw, what i neglected to take into account however was that he might have a high diamond - which he did. KK.
Anyway i am just playing now and have just had 2 difficult hands, i was wondering how best to play these 2 hands. Only just been moved to the table so no reads.
