Suggestion from this thread: http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...oker-56369.htm
I'm wondering if we can get 3-5 people interested in playing a game in the evening AEST sometime. I'm thinking stars normally has multiple of each buyin registering at one time, so we could just choose either $5.50 or $6.50 (normal or turbo) and by using ftr chat or something coordinate to all join the same one at the same time.
If we had enough interest we could organise a full experiment with a dedicated tourney, but I kind of like the idea of having some unknowns in there. Not only is it more realistic than everyone having an idea about each others abilities and how they'll play, but I think it would be interesting to see how different people read the unknowns.
Hopefully if he's still keen DemonDaze can work out consolidating the HHs via Excel, otherwise we'll have to handle it manually.
So, expressions of interest and available (or unavailable) days and times? Everyones welcome, but because I'm posting I'm making it aussie times .
I'm available any night except Tuesday through the week, and most weekends. Wednesday will normally need to be later though. So lets say for me:
7-10pm AEST (use Sydney to work out when this is if you need) Wed-Mon any week.

I answered that.
If people would prefer a private one though, I'm happy to do that, I just figured it might make things more interesting this way. Of course it comes with the risk that we dont coordinate well and get stuck on different tables. I'm flexible .

Private tourney may be better for the following reasons:
- Given how quickly Stars tourneys fill up, it can be hard to get everybody in the same tourney
- Higher buyin players may not get as much out of playing a table with half FTRers and half $5.50/$6.50 players as they would a full table of FTRers
That said, private tourneys do have some disadvantages:
- The ONLY blind structure Stars can offer is one with 15 minute levels. I have asked them about turbos etc. and they can't do it
- There is this really really annoying late registration period for the first 5 mins of the tourney where the table is split into two tables and only consolidates after the first 5 minutes. I dealt with this by asking everybody to sit out until the tables come together
That said, I'm available most nights between 7-10pm Sydney time, just let me know when the game is on and I should be able to join.

Well, I gotta admit I was hoping the higher buyin players would drop down to show us noobs how its done, rather than get a lot of benefit out of it for themselves .
I'm leaning that way though, I had some scary moments trying to coordinate just with Flying Saucy to get in the same tourney, trying to get 3 or more in the same one might be a recipe for disaster.
Once we get some interest, I'll chase up how to get a private tourney organised if thats the consensus on the best option.

Sydney is GMT+10, so subtracting 16 we get 3am to 6am CST.
A Sunday is possible, but even my weekends without plans tend to be somewhat organic and evolve as they go, so would prefer a weeknight. If we're going to have a private tourney we might need to in order to get the numbers though.
That or if its only Taipan, Badgers and myself we could go back to the 'enter same tourney at same time' approach, but I suspect I'd get a lot more out of that than either of them .

Hmm, early morning. Time we're looking at would be 5am - 8am for you, how does that suit on a weekday?

Sorry, this sort of came out wrong. Of course I'm more than happy to drop down and help newer players, what I really meant is it's been a long time since I played $5.50/$6.50 tourneys so I may not always make the best plays due to different calling ranges, etc.

No worries. As mentioned, FlyingSaucy sat in on a couple of games with me, and he was surprised just how different they were, so its a fair point. Interestingly, the FTRers lining up for this playing together will probably more closely resemble a higher buyin tourney even if some of us are lower buyin players, which will make it a different experience for us lower guys.

I can play at this time. But you'll have to tell me in advance.
What I meant with early morning was really between 12AM and 4 AM.
I usually play between 8PM to 3~4AM about 4~5 days a week.

Oh wow.
Would def be advance notice, and we can try to make it as early as possible. I think that makes 4, with ppostie a possible. Demondaze hasnt chimed in yet, so hopefully he will. If we're going to do a private tourney it would be nice to have a couple more.

I guess I'll play if you need numbers.
I'm primarily a cash player though (I seem to do ok at MTT's but suck at SnG's), although the last 2 or 3 I have played the loss has been due to river 2-outers and runner-runner straights, so maybe I'm just being results oriented.
Happy to do the aggregation of Hand Histories, whether I play or not. So let me know.

Ok, how about if I throw out a date and time and see how it suits. If its ok with you guys then I'll make a separate post with the details to see if we can drum up some more people.
Thursday 5th July 7pm AEST (GMT +10 - Syndey).

I'll try to make it but it's a bit of an awkward time for me. Will do my best though. In any case whether or not I can make it, I'll set up the tourney for you.

9pm Sydney time would be better, could probably do 8.30 at a pinch.

Starting to get late for Silu and Jack, lets see what they chime in with.
Of course if it gets too difficult we can always go back to my original idea and have a couple of games with 3 of us joining a std tourney each time.

Yeah, I am super busy ATM, don't hold up the game just because I can't make it.
