I think laying this down was the right play given the action I saw. I considered pushing over the top preflop, and am pretty convinced that this was the better option, given my stack size. Assuming the flat call, you have to lay it down to the action after that, agreed? What's your play?

Oh, I don't like the flat call at all here. A guy minraises 1/5th of his stack? Maybe the bigstacks' call is irrelvant if he's loose... but I'm not sure my K is good here (vs KK) and I even question my A (vs. KK/AA). If you hit, you destack QQ/JJ... but no one else.... unless you think he's minraising AQ.

AKs, I can see a call here. AKo, I push if I sense weakness, or just fold.

The flat call by Mr_MLRS is even MORE suspect. Now he has > 1/2 his stack in there!

Good fold after a bad call, I say.

Heh, just read results.

What I meant to say was PUSH!

agree, probably good fold after questionable call - tricky situation though. Hard to say how i would play it, would be based on my reads of how many people i thought i could push out (if any) with my all-in.

Would love to make some chips here with a nice hand but prolly too much action to make it worthwhile.

I often get myself in trouble not playing these premium hands strongly enough preflop when I'm up against an EP raise.
5.5 BB in the pot, your stack is ~10 BB, I say push it preflop. You'll likely get either 1 caller (the EP minraiser) or all folds. If he calls you are probably up against a lower pp, and at least you put the decision to go for the coinflip on your caller.

and coinflips with a lot of dead money in the pot are +EV.

I like a preflop push in that situation but it's definitely a read dependant play.

I would push. I will usually gamble with a big hand. For me it's FT or bust. That guy with the A10s was silly.

Jeff, just wondering what your thinking was that led you to flat call for 1/5th of your stack? That aside...I would still push with this stack. If you fold here....you're left with a little under 9 BB. This may be the best hand you see for a while. Here is how I think it would have played out....I personally believe that dirtman calls if you go allin....Mr_MLRS calls of course. Assuming dirtman doesn't call you are getting 14679 of your opponents chips in the pot. Giving you 2.13:1 on your stack with AK. If dirtman does call your push, there will be 17499 of your opponents chips in the middle, giving you 2:54:1 on your stack with AK. With only 9 BB left behind you, i think this is a worthwile gamble in my book.
