PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $5.00+$0.20 Tournament, 125/250 Blinds 25 Ante (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

CO (t950)
Hero (Button) (t950)
SB (t2030)
BB (t1475)
UTG (t5165)
MP (t4430)

Hero's M: 1.81

Preflop: Hero is Button with J, Q
3 folds, Hero?

SB is 7/5 but the BB is 17/0 and I had a little bit of a worry about the BB calling me light (I would prefer folds).

Note how I have position on the CO who is equal stacked with me, so the blind will hit him first - however, if he shoves before it does and I don't shove then I'm somewhat crippled - especially if he shoves and doubles up. By the time the BB reaches me, I'll have no fold equity.

I felt compelled to make a move here, but at the same time I was reluctant to do so based on the BB not seeming to keen on DON strategy.

This could be retardedly standard so I apologize in advance...

INSTAAAAA SHUV, if bb calls u light then thats cool, you need to double up, at least, to make cash and this is a pretty good spot to add 40% to your stack or more.

Super Standard shove. You simply cannot wait any longer.

In four hands time your hand will be 100 lighter thanks to the antes and 375 thanks to the blinds, e.g. game over as they collusion kicks in (if they're smart enough). I'd probably be shoving any paint at this point.

I think you can stretch M with DONs but 1.81 is pushing it.

Setup your HUD to display blind call to steals. It makes life a lot easier when you know these %'s.

It seems like you have a read this guy is going to call stupidly wide? If that's so I fold and take my chances. The CO still has to play before you and he has two big stacks to his right that should put the crush on him. If he shoves before the blind hits him, you will have an opportunity to do so as well before the blinds hit you.

I understand this but I think it's flawed. Too many "ifs" for my liking. Also, if the BB is calling wide, isn't he a moron which we're pleased about? If not, 17/0 doesn't mean that he doesn't understand the bubble.

We have a strong hand for the position we're in. Sometimes you just have to pull the trigger and hope. Infact, there's a lot of this in DONs.

I agree with you 100%. I usually push a lot wider than this when I'm confident of a high % of folds. If you don't have the call steals statistic, you have to make a judgement call based on your read of the player. OP mentioned the BB was 'not keen on DON strategy', which may imply he's calling wide... but I'm not sure. Basically, if there is evidence of him calling wide, I fold here, otherwise I'm happy to push.

Sorry, I cant check right now. My hard drive decided to destroy itself a few days ago, so I'm not set up right now. You can check for yourself though in the HUD player prefs. The colour-coding should be somewhere on the right if you click on the stat.
