Villain is a total fish. What do you make out of his play? The turn card surely didnt help him.

SB shows 2x because he's in the small blind and could be holding any two?

I cry and let this go. I agree that this is a strange line but you only beat A3 and A4 and as biondino said, opp could easily have completed the SB with 2x.

The reason I cry when I let it go is that this kind of overbet is very often a bluff or some other weak hand that doesn't want a call, so it could be a flush draw or some other hand that really really wants you to go away.

You don't even beat A3/A4. All you beat is a total bluff, this isn't the time to make a stand.

I agree that villain could hold any two here. But wouldn't he want to trap me some more with a 2? He could easily check to me hoping I fire another bullet and then shove over me. So I was pretty sure he doesnt have a 2 my guess was either a bigger ace or (more likely) a bluff. I guess the line I took wont get much love here, but I called and villain showed me 99.

Although you know what the villain held now, if he put you on a flush draw, he has to push to get you out of the hand. He's representing a 2 or a bigger kicker. Being 2nd stack at the table, its better to pick a fight in a better position. Fortunate for you, he was bluffing!

fold that shizzle. Too likely he has a 2 or a bigger A.

I tend to call these a lot, lately it has been a hand so I am trying to stop. Yesterday I had someone shove 1500 over my 60 raise at 10/20 with AK.

Be happy to fold with 30+ BB and find a better spot. This is precisely why I occasionally throw out the donk overbet with a monster, especially against someone who chat-heckles a lot or if I've pwned him recently. People want to see if you have it. I've been guilty of it myself.
