What is the best book for NL Texas Hold'em?

I recently bought Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players by David Skylansky and Manson Malmuth after hearing that it's a good book. Then I discovered that the strategies are designed for $10/$20 and $40/$80 games. Although some strategies can be passed over to NL, I'm not really interested in limit games.

Yes...it's not bad but some people say it's out of date. The other thing about Super System is that it not only covers NL Hold'em but a variety of other games as well.

basically any 2+2 publication is good.

Agreed. My thoughts on 2+2 I've read:

**** - "Theory of Poker", Sklanksy. If you haven't read this, get off this site and study this for at least a month.
**** - Hold 'em" Hold 'em Advanced Players" Sklansky. Ditto, if you like hold em.

*** - "Tournament Poker for Adv Players", Sklansky. The master deconstructs tourney play. I read this one after significant experience in SNG's so this book basically reinforced stuff I already learned the hard way. Great book for beginner/intermediate players getting into tourney play.

*** - "The Psychology of Poker", Schoonmaker. This is a good intermediate level book which can help those who have the pre-flop fundamentals down, but are looking for a stronger post-flop game via reading players around you. My post-flop improved a lot after this one.

** - Inside the Poker Mind, Feeney. This one's just ok...a bit about strategy, a bit about psychology. Good for intermediate player looking for reinforcement. Some opinionated stuff from Feeney that I think could go either way.

This is all I have read from the 2 + 2. However, I also really liked Ciaffione's "Improve your Poker"...plugged some gaps in my play, big time.

Foget all those books!!!

The best book I've read on NL poker and is widely accepted as the best is . . .

Pot Limit and No Limit Holdem by Bob Ciaffione and Stewart Reuban

Goes into in depth analysis of how to get a great hand to double you threw and has quiz questions too...

I've read several books and though I think Super system taught me the most, the most applicable to my play is Championship Pot Limit and No Limit Hold Em by Cloutier and McEvoy.

I remember when I looked at the book at the store I picked a random page and it happened to be the practice hands. I open up to "AKo" in the hole with you under the gun and the first line is "Well first thing, I would have folded this hand." I remember thinking "What in the hell?!" But I learned a lot from it.

I think low stakes NL hold em needs to be played like the first day of the WSOP, tight as it gets and when you go into the pot, you go in hard because you've got the big guns. There are just too many call stations in low limit to be in there coin tossing all the time.

Toasty, you are right. I forgot that one, which I also read and I liked a lot! Great advice on the big bet games...so to the question, this one is a great suggestion.

I'm seeing a theme here...

Also, Fnord has given high praise of Harrington's new book. If you've got a little scratch to invest, I'd go for that one instead of Tourny for Advanced players.
