I am thinking of taking the plunge and buying Poker Tracker. I hear only rave reviews about it on this message board and it sounds like it will pay for itself in a short amount of time if I am able to interpret it's statistics and use them to my advantage to improve my game.

My question is this. What hand histories is Poker Tracker set up to use and evaluate? I have been playing mainly at Ultimate Bet and would like to know if Poker Tracker can interpret UB hand histories without any sort of conversion.

Thanks!

There are some special things you need to do to load UB histories. I've seen the messages on the screens, but don't play there so haven't really paid them much attention.

I'd download a copy and try it. You can get a 1000 hand demo for free and its a good chance to try it out.

Well, I downloaded the trial version last night. I was able to import about 275 hands of $3/$6 limit. I haven't analyzed anything yet as it was late and I wanted to get some sleep but I will probably look at it today.

doubleup - For UB hand histories you have to either:

1) Request a batch hand history from UB via e-mail. If you do this you can't just take the contents of the e-mail and save it into a text file for importing into Poker Tracker. You have to take the e-mail contents and put it into a spreadsheet and do some sort of conversion and save it before you can import it into Poker Tracker. This is ridiculous and tedious.

2) This is probably the easiest of the 2 methods for retrieveing hand histories. Use the hand history window from the table screen that you are playing. Although, you can't just put in a range in that hand history retrieval window. You have to incrementally pick hand by hand and retrieve it to have it display in that window. Then save the contents of that hand history window to a text file and import that into Poker Tracker. Much easier than Option #1, but still tedious as you have to retrieve every hand individually in the same hand history window. So, you have to do this every 25 hands or so or else it will interfere with your play. Still tedious but the information that you get from Poker Tracker will probably make it worth the effort to do.

There is a good help section in Poker Tracker explaining each of the methods for retrieveing UB hand histories. Kind of a pain but I'm hoping the analysis makes it worth the effort.

Hope this helps!
