This is the end!

1. Concept No. 54: Checking to induce a bluff is a significantly stronger play in no limit than it is in limit. S&M give a couple of examples on p. 288-289 in which you have TPMK or TPTK on drawy boards and they recommend checking behind the turn to induce a bluff rather than betting to charge a draw and protect your hand. In the second example you have AhQh on a QdTd7h8h board. What do you think about the merits of checking behind vs. betting here? What other factors are important?

2.. Concept No. 55: Unlike limit, limping first in on the button is frequently correct. S&M explain:
Quote:
Raising in deep stack no limit is rarely intended to steal the blinds. It's used to get value for good hands, manipulate the pot size, semi-bluff, and for other reasons. If everyone folds to you on the the button, and you raise, you're usually doing it because you want to build a pot while you have position, not because you want to win the paltry blind money.
I'd love to get a discussion going about this, b/c I doubt many successful FTR'ers ever open-limp from the button.
