    Default Finding the right spots

    Hi guys,

Lately I've been struggling with picking the right spots to steal/shove or reshove and help me maintain my stack size acceptable to go deep in the micro 180 men. The hand below is just an example of what I think may be a mistake of mine not playing it, but not only in the button position, also in MP or even UTG positions, maybe. How would you play it in those three different spots? Some higlights would be very much appreciated.

stealing blinds in this position with 2 live cards K10 Hearts. 3 times small blind, 2times big blind. a flop with 2 hearts gives u extra value, if u get called pre flop, only high card A is beating u here and unlikely to call a bet at the turn

google push/fold charts/ buy the book Kill Everyone. at some point you can consider whether you should min open or shove here, but for now just worry about when to jam and when not when you are short.

KTs is a close shove from any position to open with your stack, clear shove on the button.

Hi and welcome to FTR, it's good to have you here.

This is a very clear shove from your position on the button with an above average hand. There are 1,800 chips in the pot preflop which are up for grabs, why not take them? Plus you have the SB covered and the BB almost covered so they'll think pretty hard before calling you.

From earlier positions, I agree with drmcboy, it's closer and depends on how aggressive the table has been (since if you raise and get shoved over by a bigger stack than yours you pretty much have to fold).

Is Kill Everyone similar to Kill Phil? The latter was easily the worst poker book I have ever read (and I've read or at least skimmed quite a few.)

I mean it was really, really bad. Maybe the sequel had more up to date info and not just open shove AA/KK, fold everything else or whatever other nonsense was in the first.

Yes, it is good, esp the charts. I never read Kill Phil.

Openfolding KTs on the button is disgusting.

I think at the beggining the biggest mistake was being so tight that I wouldn't even think of opening a hand as good as this. A min raise from MP or UTG sometimes works, yes, the problem comes with the calling stations that urge to see the flop, but that can be fought with some good post flop play, I guess, and this is where I'm focused now. With resteal from late position I agree, it's an easy fold. Now. I had trouble letting go of things before...

Thanks guys for all the replies. Lukie, I started Kill Everyone and for what I've read Kill Phil is considered to be a prequel of it and maybe a little outdated. In Kill Everyone they show you the new ways of playing and facing poker, other than ABC poker, the way I see it.
