i've been fishing a few times in august and september.
    caught quite a few trout.
    I've been eating well.

went out again yesterday, here's a searun that i'll be eating shortly
will be playing a lot of volume over the next ten days. It's a little like my nit plan. Except volume. Maybe I'll do some nit at the same time.

Looks like you're doing real good. Y u no like 6max? In any case go go go and gl. (With screenshots you can draw a rectangle over stuff you want covered up and click the little paint bucket to fill it in. Looks nicer. But probably you're not ocd like me.)

my favourite (easy/lazy) is baking 'em whole - gutted and gilled obviously. Chuck in the oven and when the skin is about able to be easily peeled off simply put it on a table and let everyone help themselves. When one fillet is finished it's easy to grab the tail and pull out all the bones (comes out as a complete skeleton) then eat the bone free fillet that remains. The cheeks are pretty tasty too, and often overlooked. Only worth bothering with on bigger fish though i guess.

Sometimes i fillet them and fry up the fillets in butter and white wine, other times they get smoked.

i'm probably better at FR relative to the reg-player pool than i am at 6max. It's not like i hate 6max or anything.

poker is a struggle at the moment
struggle to be motivated to play, and to play well when i do play.

i'm going back to basics and grinding out a roll from scratch. well, kinda. I'm going to grind 10buyins from each level and then get back into it. Or start looking for a normal job ;_)

poker in 2013 was a bit of a trainwreck for me. Made some $ and whatever but lost a lot of psyche (one month i played only 14hrs and somehow managed to lose $2k) and for the first time ever messed pretty hard on the bankroll management front. It will be interesting to see what 2014 will bring. At the moment it feels likely that 2014 will be the first year since 2008 that poker won't be my primary source of income. Then again, that would mean finding another source of $.

life in 2013 was eventful. I'm now fully recovered from the climbing accident i had 13 months ago, crazy to think that 11 months ago i couldn't walk far, couldn't do much, couldn't even drive. Now i'm running and climbing and riding, and it's about time to get my board out and hit some waves again. In the downtime I got better at fishing.

I got involved in local enviro-politics. We took it to the man. And we won. It's a pretty big deal. It's absolutely fucking awesome. I put over a thousand hours into that movement that we started back in march, I ended up on a first name basis with half a dozen members of parliament, I learned a lot about dealing with media, I built a bunch of bridges (and burned a couple of others i guess), I gained yet another perspective on how this country works. And it all ended in a simple press release and a few beers to celebrate: http://beehive.govt.nz/release/restr...uthland-remain, http://www.odt.co.nz/news/dunedin/28...g-stays-people

xmas eve was 25 people here having a good ol' fashioned bbq and session. 2014 is underway. And i'm excited to see what it will bring. As always, I have a few fun plans...

2014 and poker is going ok
    2014 and i'm enjoying perspective
2014 and i am running and climbing and getting in the ocean and that's how life should be
all in all the year is starting well

i'm a bit nervous though. 6 days from now i'm fronting to try and cover 110km in the mountains in one push. Guess i'll be hitting the wall pretty hard about 20hrs in cos that's the only way to find out what's on the other side. the games we play. goethe knew what he was talking about.

i had a callus on the heel of my right foot from all the running i've been doing. I didn't think that mattered. About 12hrs into the trip i felt like i had been stabbed in the foot. Turns out i had developed a callus under my right heel. The next 8hrs were pretty rough.

planning for the next daytrip is underway. Route is head in to do the gillespie pass circuit http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-rec...-pass-circuit/ and take a slight detour about halfway through to climb mt awful http://climbnz.org.nz/nz/si/aspiring/mt-awful before continuing on our merry way. Could be a pretty tough 30hrs or so.

Obviously getting it in on the flop was the goal, in this specific spot with these players i thought that flatting here was the best way to accomplish this. Based on the previous while at the table i was rock-solid on my read that utg+1 would 3b if i called after the maniac-lag raised the flop. And if my read was wrong then i'm comfortable getting it in on most (i.e. non-diamond) turn cards.

My turn play in hand 1 is something i'm questioning though..
