    Default 2/4 Nonsensical river shove

This place is so dead....so i'll post my non standard hands for discussions sake. So go ahead and criticize as best as possible.

Weird spot. Never expect villain to be balanced and have Ax / nut hands by the river, but can have Jx, QQ-KK and random str8 draw pairs that are ahead.

New computer so new database..no hands. Assume std half decent reg 24/20 8% 3b

so you're trying to rep AT/KQ? your range has a lot of missed draws + 8x/Tx you could turn into bluffs. from a strictly range perspective I feel like your range is really weighted towards bluffs

I think the flop and turn is pretty bad. Flop is a fold, turn is a bet imo. River will probably work but its not my favorite spot to overbet, I'm thinking half pot bet may be more +EV

Good points. I guess my equity on the flop is terrible against his range, and low enough to merit a fold, didn't think about that too clearly at the time. I'm going to get barreled off a high % of the time and not have any other option but to fold turn aswell.

I think i checked back because i've been getting c/bombed a lot in this spot lately, but this turn card is going to polarize my betting range so he should be disinclined to c/raise bluff if i bet? I guess a lot of hands have decent equity against mine on the turn, so we should also bet for protection and to avoid being bluffed on the river?

I guess the reason this hand is awkward is because my flop call is no good.

You have to play your bluffs the way you'd play your credible value range, which is by betting the turn. In this particular spot you just aren't expected to often check the turn with a good enough hand to value bet the river. Basically any ace bet/calls the turn in your spot, and you cannot have qq/kk, so the strongest hand you rep checking the turn is KJ, which can't even value bet the river that effectively.

Only bluff as much as you need to bluff for it to work. River is probably overkill, when I'd expect $125 or something to work fairly often.

I'd probably just fold flop, and bet turn if I called flop.

If this guy wants to c/bomb you off trips he can go ahead (yes you're turn betting range should be polar here).

But yeah you're getting yourself in trouble here calling this flop, even if you're ahead you're going to get bluffed off a decent amount.
