    Default Cracked Aces

The definition given for cracked aces is (Aces lose to an inferior hand like 7-2 and up). I ran into a problem last night in our Monday Night Hold'em League where I started a Cracked Aces Jackpot. Early in the night one of the players, who folded after the turn, shows the pair of aces he had in his hand after the hand was over and tries to claim the jackpot. After some arguing, I gave him the jackpot and we decided not to have this side game going forth. My part of the definition of cracked aces, which I assumed was one that everyone else would agree with, was that you had to actually finish the hand to have them "cracked". He maintained that he had the aces and lost the hand. What is your opinion??

You have to clarify this rule ahead of time. If the rule is just that he lost a hand with pocket aces, then you have a clear problem.

I would have stated it has to go to showdown. Then explain what showdown means to the same guy.
It takes 2 years to learn to talk, but a lifetime to learn when to shut up.

All jackpots like this require going to showdown. That being said, it's always best to clarify this and some other basic rules. Probably worth writing them down to reference for situations like this as well. I don't think you should have paid him but whatevs.

There are high hand jackpots at the casino I play at occasionally, but one of the rules are you must use both hole cards. When people try to claim the jackpot using one card, they reference the rule list and that is that.
