nine inch nails and nirvana. Musically speaking I think Nin is the most talented band there is. Listen to the fragile and then year zero and you will agree.

    QFT!

Though my favorite NIN stuff is Broken & Downward Spiral.

My first live show I saw was NIN & David Bowie in '95 and haven't missed an instate show since (which is a total of about 5-6 shows). Saw him/them two days in a row last year. Can't wait for the Year Zero tour to come by.

    I forgot to add:

Tassel & Naturel (These guys are great)

    Tosca

Specific songs to listen (on repeat these days):

    Sade - Smooth Operator
Mtume - Juicy Fruit (And naturally Notorious B.I.G. - Juicy)
Adani & Wolf, Praful - Seu Sem Amor
Aim - Cold Water Music / Northwest
Groove Armada - Edge Hill / Little By Little
Augustus Pablo - King Tubby Meets The Rockers Uptown
    The Chakachas - Jungle Fever
    Thievery Corporation - Lebanese Blonde
Tosca - Chocolate Elvis (the one on Destination Lounge: Vegas, there are many versions of this song)
Blank & Jones - I love You (Late Night Mix)
Boozoo Bajou - Take it Slow
    Jazzanova - Bohemian sunset
Calle 13 - Tango del Pecado

Unbelievably, iTunes carries all of these

I was a huge Public Enemy fan but their latest stuff really doesn't do it for me. Fuck copyright laws. Terminator X's samples where the shiz.

I really like the Go! Teams first album and I saw them life last January. They were OK and the singer has real good stage presence but the sound was too muddled but that could have been a one off. Their latest album is a little bit flat. What do you think?

Oops and i forgot one very important band in my line up.

I love the new Go! team album. Aaah, the Fall - Mark E Smith is a legend - I don't expect any US FTR's will have heard of him though.

I think this thread would have more value if rather than long lists of bands, people just focused on a couple of their faves and gave a bit of info about their sound/style etc. and why they are teh awesomest band in the history of muzak. Some good stuff listed though, particularly your's Renton. Frank Zappa was one kerazy fucking musical genius A few from me:

Nomeansno: Awesome off-kilter "punk" band from the early 80s. Were wierd and bass-led before it was cool to be wierd and bass led ( i think Mr Bungle, Primus & possibly even the Chili's borrowed liberally from their style. Although mr Claypool is probably a better bass player tbh). And they're still fucking rockin it, i saw them a few weeks ago and they were AMAZING. 2 hour set with extra helpings of bass-noodling FTMFW.

Horse the Band: These guys are just bizarre. 80s synth pop meets progressive hardcore (i hate the label progressive harcore, but it's appropriate in this case). Plus they dress like true champions, multicoloured tracksuits and matching headbands are a good look.

Buck 65: My one and only foray into Hiphoppery. I hate the whole culture that is associated with most mainstream hiphop, the guns and bling schtick makes me want to punch things, and i've let it get in the way of me even attempting to see what sort of other hiphop there is out there. But Buck 65 really is quite good, especially for a white man

I got more, but this is long enough already.
