First time I've ever folded a set on a dry board in 6-max NLHE. First orbit at the table, no reads. The only really goofy thing this opponent has done so far is to have a Cashman Brian avatar.

BTW I don't like raising preflop with small pairs to isolate short stacks.

I don't get it, since you can't rule out AK or even a slight chance of AQ/bluff.

Against a solid player, nice fold probably. Without a read this is probably a call, but I really don't think it's terrible given his overbet. This might be AK but it's never AQ. 66 is also in his range.

I don't get it either, AK and KK+ is a VERY narrow range. First orbit, no reads? I'd instacall.

I lean towards a call

If board didn't read A-K-x it'd be less likely villain was "slowplaying" top 2 on that dry flop.

that being said, maybe I was just overly traumatized by this hand where villain had AK :

Yes, the villain was Bidicha. Based on how nitty he played preflop for the rest of the session, I'm not even sure he'd raise AK from the blinds, not that I could have known that at the time.

I think this fold has fine reasoning, but sucks. If he is a logical person than his logic to check the flop is probably because he crippled the deck with AA. But I mean you don't know if the guy is just being ridiculous. Normally, you can only make this fold with a tighter range. But I can think of even A2, AK, A9, ridiculous bluff. You are giving 50NL a little too much credit.

Ha thats the guy! I hate him so much he sits and plays like an ultimate rock at about 12 tables at a time. He's not infallable, I have seen him get out of line a few times; but the raise from the BB then the check and push, looks like AA KK to be honest. I really dont think he does this with QQ.

I've stacked him once or twice and its a sweet sweet feeling, we sort of avoid each other now.

I'd try to play as many pots against him as I could -- he's not really a nit; he plays plenty of garbage hands, he just limps with them instead of raising them. And it's so easy to tell how strong he is. If he bets half the pot or less, he has squat, especially if it's checked to him in position. If he's betting with a real hand, he'll bet 3/4 of the pot or more. During our session last night, I kept checking to him on the river when I was pretty sure he didn't have anything, and I think I got a bluff out of him every single time. He is a very subpar poker player.

All together, I made nearly half a buy-in off him because he kept trying pointless bluffs like this one against me.

I think that nails it. I do kinda like these guys on Stars as they are so predictable. If they raise pre flop they will c-bet and they will slow down with AK etc if they miss and also fold to a re raise. Pre flop if they re raise they are telling you there ahead. If you hit a set on the flop they are quite easy to stack. I'd rather sit at a table with a bunch of guys who buy in for the $30 and are passing money back and forth between each other tho.

NB I recon our villan is probably slightly above break even at best but the funny thing is he clearly thinks he is a superstar judging by the time he puts in and number of tables he plays! Most of his profit must come from people who dont know him because as you said any-one who plays against him for any time will have him sussed. I am presently playing on a PC with no pokertracker but I would like to see the stats on him.
