I just lost 4 in a row.. I'm still way up in heads up but i have seen many holes in my game. I tend to get beat on hands wehre i make top pair or two pair and try and induce a bluff...

I am hoping its just a bit of bad luck... I think it is.. but not sure

tips on heads up would be greatly appreciated

aggressive

if you get an Ace heads up preflop, raise the mother...

HU you must play more aggressive and loose...

HU, in a word, is hyper-agressive - at least for me. Like Corey, if I've got an ace, I'm raising. Two face cards, I'm raising. a premium hand and I'm pushing all-in. I'll raise with just about anything heads up, even down to low suited connectors like 45 and low pp.

Don't raise every hand though, I try to mix it up at about 70/30 or 80/20 with limp-ins or checks, even if I have a solid hand.

Normally by the time you're HU the blinds are so high that you really have no choice but to be agressive or you'll just die. I've never played the 1-on-1 that you're talking about so maybe the blinds don't come into play.

actually the heads up i'm playing is low blinds, because its a heads up tournament.. a shootout.

nonetheless those guidelines i follow by, except that i raise with everything, and i bet at everything almost. that's probably my problem. i need to call 'buy's' more often and that will save me from getting trapped when they actually do have the nuts.

on a good note i just won a tournament, but it was jaded, the dude went all in on a bluff and i had k's and q's.. lol

Although you do need to bet and raise most of the time you do need to change up your play. HU is the one time just about any player (even a fish) is going to read your playing style. You need to fold a few hands in the SB. You need to just call a few times and you need to read your opponent. I was playing against someone last night who raised strong each time I just called from the SB, so I did this a few times and folded to the raise. Later I got KK and called, he raised, I re-raised etc.
Thanks,

LionsFan and breakfastman are both right...

There's really only two positions heads up: The Bully and the Bitch: You Always want to be the bully... but occasionally, you've got to switch gears solely to create the illusion that you're not totally robbing the guy. It gives your bullying more credibility.
