So I'm comfortably rolled for 200nl after a good month and I'm going to be moving up by next month. What can I expect the differences to be from 100nl. I heard this is the hardest jump, is that true?
I expect to get 3 bet more frequently, anything else?
Is there a list of regs I should avoid before I'm comfortable with the stakes?
(It will be stars 200nl btw)
Thanks.

My word of advice, don't do river c/r bluffs expecting them to be capable of folding now

mckittrick19, 0evg0, and *cough* will641 *cough* are definitely up there. but seriously most regs are just fairly solid and nothing spectacular, which is why they are playing 200nl.

400 is a bigger jump imo, but 200 is still a step up from 100. The regs stack off lighter... at first play the same, but watch how/when they stack off lighter and adjust as needed
key is adjusting...and you'll do fine if that's what you think about. If you are a winning 100nl player, its all about taking those adjustments you need at 200 into account.

People suck less and total fish tend to buy in short. The jump to 400, 600 and 1K is harder because those are the levels where pros who don't suck (but can't farm nose-bleed) farm money.

yeah he thinks he is the shit. i really hate him. funny story about him: i just moved up to 200nl and i was deep at a table with 0evg0 a few other regs, and massimo, and massimo says will you could definitely find a better table, you should leave. evg had position on me too. he berated him for idk how long, but then he brought it up in the official stars reg thread on 2p2. they were confused because ISF posts as redgrape on 2p2, but doesnt play as redgrape on stars or something, so evg goes off about how much of an idiot he thought redgrape was and retold this story. except he described me as a "super fish".

Should I be changing my preflop bet size, if I'm going to be getting 3 bet more frequently? To like 3 or 3.5bb?

at 1/2, assuming folded to, i like 8, 8, 7, 6, 8 from utg through sb. if someone limps, reads are a big factor in my isolation sizing.

the average player's range in 3b pots is much wider starting in 1/2, and the postflop play is more aggro, so playing fit or fold poker isn't going to yield a profit. you have to learn when to float, how to size your bets so that your range is generally balanced, when to bluff (you are going to be very exploitable if you always bet turn after floating the flop instead of often delaying until the river, or if you constantly bluff-raise cbets on dry boards, etc.), how to bluff most efficiently, and you have to become a better hand reader to enable thinner value betting. you also have to get a feel for when its better to turn a medium strength hand into a bluff catcher rather than attempting to value bet thinly.
idk, maybe you already feel like you are solid in all of these areas. these just strike me as the things it takes to beat 200 at a good rate.

About a year ago I played a lot of 200NL short for a strong win-rate over a not-so-big sample size and then moved to full ring and lost a lot of money learning that the full ring nits have a hand way more often and spew off way less.
Inducing bluffs from TAggs and playing back into aggression from time to time works well at 200NL short.

play tighter preflop when you move up and try not to put yourself into marginal spots
play 6 or fewer tables and note any non-ABC hand that reaches showdown. in pokertracker, figure out how these ppl r evaluating poker situations by reviewing their play.
once u build a tight image and figure out who the regs are and how they play, start to open up your game.
dont be afraid to move down if u lose 10bi or so in a week

if you make moving up a really big deal it's gonna turn out badly. Just play the same as you did to get to this point

If this is stars your not going to get threebet more frequently. 1/2 on stars is so bad.
