Ok, I'm going to give a few thoughts on some of these hands ..

First hand, KK. One limper and you min-reraise preflop. Don't ever do this again, you are asking to get stacked by doing that. Raise to at least $2 and go from there. As played bet the flop + turn harder, make sure you are betting at least 1/2 to 4/5 the size of the pot.

Hand 2, once again preflop reraise bigger. I raise typically 3-4x the initial raise intending to get the pot HU or at worst three way. Checking the flop is alright since you have almost a lock hand, but I still usually bet here to build the pot.

AQ hand, two limpers behind and you raise to 3xbb, don't do this. Preflop raise 4xbbs + 1bb per limper, so 6xbbs in this case which is a raise to $1.50. Otherwise you get a ton of callers like you did and you don't want to flop top pair and lose a big pot to somebodys wierd two pair.

Next hand AQ again, once again I raise a little bigger preflop. I think once you get reraised you should toss it into the muck, your hand has a lot of reverse implied odds when you catch top pair. If it comes Q high you still lose to AA and KK and if it comes A high AK beats you still as well as some Ax two pair hands and a lot of other hands. As played it is 25NL and a call there on the flop is standard.

AT hand, preflop it's raise or fold. When you turn the straight you need to raise to build the pot. Sure he might fold but that's because he doesn't have a strong enough hand to pay you off, you want to build pots fast in NLHE cash games. You ended up winning a pretty small pot when a raise to $2 on the turn and a 2/3 pot bet would have won you a bigger pot. At 25nl there is no need to slowplay very often since they will pay you off with almost any piece of the board.

JJ hand, raise bigger preflop, what's with the minraise? Raise to $1 here and proceed from there. As played on the flop I don't like your min-reraise. At 25nl it probably doesn't matter but if you ever get into the higher stakes games people will see your minraises as a tell that you have a big hand. Worked out well which is exactly you should never slowplay at 25nl.

25NL games are easy money, especially on Stars/PP, but every 25nl game is extremely soft. My advice to you is to rarely slowplay and just bet bet bet raise raise raise, you will find that slowplaying is useless if they will call your pot-sized bet drawing dead on every street. Just play solid TAG at the lower limits and you will win.

BTW, looking at the 77 hand on the 7KKKT board, is that river push a bluff? You do realize the K on the turn counterfieted your full house so if he has 88+ or any ten then you are behind and only getting called when you're beat.

Nice hands, you were obviously lagging it up at the end, but be careful who you do this against at 25NL and dont try it against a calling monkey!

Of the other hands I noticed this one....

as one I didn't really like, when playing at 25 I normally found that when someone came back at you this hard off the flop your TPGK was no longer any good, especially with pf action like that! Although with your $10 bet I suppose you were happy to play for stacks with any caller. Again you maby had a read tho that AK or two pair would of bet at you and there was a draw out there which the check push looks a bit like.....

Anyway you seem to be running good, hope it keeps up for you.

Shysti,
I switched up about 3 weeks ago. Iam doing very well. Its a change in a major way. I cant say I never went back to SNG's because I did once and I sucked. Its not beginners luck, but you have to watch yourself with hands like K 8 and other hands you loved in the past. TPTK will not win you a lot pots in ring. Your not raising 4-5 X the BB either in some hands. Just keep doing it and you will get action. Dont feel like you have to min raise or play deceptive. They will get used to it and when they start calling your raises prepare to get paid when you hit. I take back everything i said if you plan to LAGG your way through ring, i dont suggest it though when you start out. Remember you first started playing SNG's? Tight is right... All that sheeeet ? Apply the basics again and you will see how far you go.

Thanks for the kind words of wisdom guys, I wasn't really applying any solid poker fundamentals last night, as it was more just me having fun and taking a peak at NL ring.

But you better believe when I do play seriously you won't see me making the plays I played last night, hence why I called it an adventure lol.

If you look at this hand closer, I was on the button and decided to just call. The original raiser checked the flop as did the rest of them, I figured if they had a hand like AK, they would of reraised preflop to get rid of some the opponents. Plus with a flop like that with 2 clubs I am sure a person with AK would of bet out to get rid of anyone chasing the flush.

So I bet 10 to either take the pot down right there, or to see if I met any resistance. When he went all in, I used my reads on him from prior hands and thought about what possible holdings could he have had.

AA, he would of reraised pre flop
KK, again I think he would of put in a reraise to chase out any ace
QQ, unlikely because I held one of the queens and he would of had to reraise again to chase out any over cards to his queens
AK, I explained my reasoning behind that
AQ, unlikely since I had that hand
Any ace below this I am dominating unless he made 2 pair,
I didn't put him on 2 pair here so I thought I was good, and I didn't think he had 22 or 44, based off what my gut was telling me.

So I decided my hand was good here.

Shysti - this reads like just about the luckiest session you are ever likely to have. You played several of the hands badly, but Aislephive has pointed out most of the problems there - seriously, read his points and learn from them, they're gold.

You were exceptionally lucky not to get sucked out on in a number of them, and you were fortunate to be folded to when you needed to be; you really, really need to bet and raise bigger to push out drawing hands.

BUT... I can't help but admire the style with which you played a lot of the hands. You got a lot of bets out of worse hands; you got fold when you needed them; and you took advantage of your luck and your image to work the table.

Most of the time, you won't get nearly so lucky. As you tighten up, you'll get more people folding worse hands to you; you'll hit fewer key cards at key times, and even when you do, sometimes they'll help the oppo even more than they help you. But as long as you don't *expect* sessions like this, you have the basis of a strong game and you seem aware that you need to put in a lot of work to make your play optimal for ring.

Good luck with it all!

Thanks! Yeah I don't expect this to be the norm, because normally it's the other guy gettin this kind of action and having it work for him, but it was fun to have my "every dog has his day" moment. Tonight, I expect take the advice here and experiment more, with solid fundamentals, if I am not too tired to play after I get off work. I'll be doing what gabe has done and posting hands from my sessions here, as a work in progress type of thing.

But thanks guys you all are the reasons I love this site!

nutsinho will become famous soon enough
there is no reason to slowplay hands like you do
you should also be deciding your raise size based on the size of the pot, not the size of your opponents bet.
My bankroll is the amount of money I would spend or lose before I got a job. It is calculated by adding my net worth to whatever I can borrow.

Yeah definitely, that JJ hand was really bad. I *may* check the flop, but I definitely come out with guns blazing on the turn to build the pot. NL 6 max cash games is about stacking people, and when you flop the nuts and on the river the pot is 9xbb something is seriously wrong. Slowplaying will get you killed if you overdo it, in fact I lead out with sets 80 percent of the time to stay deceptive. There are times when the board is so dry that you have to check to let somebody catch up, but still you should be getting in the habit of betting out your monsters. The latest hand with JJ when you flopped top boat, let's say somebody with a Q calls you on the river, you just won like a 2-3 dollar pot. Is that much better than betting and having everybody fold? You aren't going to get paid if nobody has anything, so that shouldn't nessicarily be a reason to slowplay.

Also, raise more preflop in all of your hands. You are seriously butchering some of your hands really bad.

Advice of a scholar. Shysti your opponents have to have something in order for you to get paid. The more you check hands like this down the less you will get paid. Anyone with a Queen+ or a 10 is coming for the ride .Figure out early if your going to get paid or not. No reason to dilly dally around. No one is going to attempt to bluff at a pot thats a buck fifty.

My image prior to this hand was pretty poor, so that contributed to me playing this hand super fast to look like a bluff or some kind of draw. To him, it definitely looks like I am on a flush draw here, especially with the overbet. I don't always play sets fast, sometimes I slowplay them if I think it's appropriate.
