I’ve had some discussions recently with a few other members about restarting the session reviews [I stopped because of a combination of school, getting hacked, etc.]. The general consensus was that there is still interest in doing that, but that we could make a few changes to allow it to be more successful.
The biggest change we thought of was to have it be more of a session sweat through the use of a screen sharing program [AIM Pro, a free program]. We can pair people up with others who are at similar skill level and play similar stakes and then you guys can set up a time that works for the both of you.
Ultimate George made a little write-up of how to use the program:

AIM Pro works a lot like the normal AIM messaging system everyone's been using, it just has a few new features.
1. Download AIM Pro.
2. Start an AIM conversation with someone.
3. Click on "Share"
4. Click on "Start Sharing"
5. The person you're talking to will have to accept.
6. The person who accepts will now be able to see whatever is on your screen, or "main" screen if you have two monitors.
You can do a number of things to actually talk to the other player. One of your options is to use AIM Pro. You can click on the "Voice" tab while in an AIM with someone. It works the same as share, but now you'll be able to hear the other person if they have a microphone. Your microphone will actually be "open," I think, so it's more like talking on the phone. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. You won't have to push any buttons to talk, which is good, but everything you do/say will be heard by the other person (which could be annoying, especially if you have to have your mic close to your mouth, it'll catch your breathing).
I haven't done this (AIM Pro) while screen sharing, but I don't see why it wouldn't/couldn't work.
If it doesn't, just use Vent/Skype.
|
If this sounds like something you want to do, just post here and in a week or so I will make some pairings and send everybody a PM.
Also, include your stakes and whether or not you play SH or FR.
Since this is a new structure for this, it would be really helpful if after the first few pairings, everybody makes some comments and suggestions.
Anyways, this should be a great tool for everybody, regardless of skill, so I hope a lot of people sign up.

I'm in. Also, I think it might be a good idea to include what site as the FT & PS games play a bit different than the other sites.
50NL but I'll be moving back up to 100NL in a few weeks to a month.
Shorthanded.
Ongame.

200nl 6/5max+ variety of sites.
Im quite happy to work with guys playing 100nl who like me have been stuck at SSNL for a while.
Also, the 5/10nl games look soft on bogogg so if someone wants to sweat me playing 6max id be more than happy.

I would definitely be down for this. I was in the first round. Real-time interactivity is definitely what was missing. I'm 50nl/100nl on FTP.

Bump
I'm $100NL 6 max.
I'd probably benefit someone at $50NL 6max, and i would benefit from someone who's played $200NL+ 6 max
Obviously.
On iPoker and Party btw

Anyone up for video review instead of live sweating? I find that when I'm being sweated I have difficulties concentrating. I get stressed, my play becomes worse and the advice/discussion goes in one ear, out the other. When I make videos and can talk in my own tempo, I find it much easier to explain my thought processes.

yea, i've heard teamviewer is the best from a few 2+2 coaches, and it's what my coach uses.
here's his reccomended settings for it:
extras -> options -> remote control -> make sure quality is set to optimize speed
extras -> options -> remote control and make sure "view only" is checked
extras -> options -> presentation -> make sure quality is set to optimize speed

Edit: Teamviewer > Mikogo > aimpro

This sounds like a grand idea. I'm playing $25NL (well $20 since it's Titan), will be taking shots at $50 soon tho. I'm not sure what use i'll be sweating, but who knows? The sessions worth of hand histories idea is also good.
Mind I'm UK based, so arranging a good time to do so could be awkward. Any of you $25 - $100 6-max yanks play during the afternoon?
